Terror in Mumbai Ended; 195 Dead Including 5 Americans

The latest attack on civilization has come to an end with military commandos in India finally gaining control over the stunning 3-day attack on Mumbai, the economic capital of India.

CNN is reporting that at this hour, 195 are confirmed dead, as the military goes room to room at the historic Taj Mahal Hotel searching for more victims and survivors. Five of the dead are said to be Americans, including Rabbi Gavriel Noach Holtzberg and his wife, Rivka, of Brooklyn, New York. Earlier, the couple’s nanny managed to flee to safety with their toddler son.

There were also 2 couples from Chicago, 1 couple was rescued and the other escaped the following morning. This is so sad, it used to be a time that the only things one would have to be careful of and that would be getting sick from drinking the water/food or being pick-pocketed, now it’s your very life. it’s not a good time to be traveling in these regions of the world.

This is a mess…my heart goes out to all the families that are affected by this awful incident. There are 19,398 for us companies near Mumbai, Maharashtra, India…Over 18,000 of them only been there for the pass 6 years. What will they do about this…There are US citizens who fly there regularly for business…Will it be safe?

So sad that no one is safe around the world now. when you see the suffering in Africa and the Muslim countries it is very sad. the Americans and Brits are the natural targets because we are seen as rich and decadent. The infighting between the religious groups in Palestine, Africa, France. I cant take the time to name every country. It may take a long long time for true integration and peace to come to the world. What is strange is that the Arab Emirates are not targeted for their over the top resorts like Dubai. It amazes me. Americans and Brits have always been do gooders but it was done with sincerity. Who was to know in the 1700’s just how the world would develop.

Depak Chopra was on CNN last night discussing this very subject and the complicity of the US in creating the monster that terrorism has become and for some reason was cut off in mid sentence and they went to a commercial. After the commercial, he wasn’t there to resume, either. He was saying that the world is now 25% muslim and we are acting diplomatically and strategically without regard to their way of life or belief systems. I feel this to be true and I also feel that our financial markets have recently been complict in financing our enemies in these oil rich nations by speculating in oil and keeping prices inordinately high for a long period. We not only brought our economy to its knees but enriched their coffers to bursting! We need to look deep within and make the necessary adjustments so that all of this is corrected and never happens again in the future. Wake up America! I feel that Obama is uniquely suited to lead us at this moment in time..

The people of Africa are truly suffering. They’re attacked, raped and killed as if it were a sport. The people of Africa are immune to this type of violence. Read this CNN report. http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/africa/06/19/darfur.rape/ Mao Tse-tung murdered 25 million people. Stalin murdered about the same. This was over a period of 10 to 20 years. In Rwanda in 1994 1 million people were murdered in 3 months. The reason the terroists in India murdered close to 200 people is because many people in this world are hellbent on killing innocent people. Why don’t these punks take on someones military rather than killing citizins.

Just read an article on the amazing courage and strength of the people who worked at the Taj Hotel. How they continued to do their best to help the guests there, getting them to safe places if possible, bringing them blankets and drinks, and in at least one incidence taking a bullet meant for a guest. Those people should be recognized and rewarded. We only hear about the terrorists, it helps to hear about the heros too. As I said on another thread my son had come home from a business trip to India less than 3 weeks ago and had stayed at this hotel so I have many thanks to give on this holiday weekend. He travels a lot in his work and is getting ready to move to Brazil for 3 years to open his companies offices there. I worry for his safety a lot of the time but have to accept that he is doing what he wants to do.

Sandbee, My brother worked in Brazil for three years for IBM. He has many stories about the bad conditions there on the streets. But the foreigners were not targeted when he was there. The contrast between the Rich and the Poor there is overwhelming. Your son will be safe, God willing.

If you want to be safe, stay in America. Travel in America, spend your money here. There is nowhere in the world that is safe for Americans to be. The contrast between rich and poor here is overwhelming. One in four Brazilians live in a shanty town.
