'Thank You, Mr. President: Helen Thomas at the White House' Sneak Preview (video)

A legend in political reporting, Helen Thomas has covered every president since John F. Kennedy, earning the nickname “First Lady of the Press.” Now in her 80s, the venerable journalist sits down for an in-depth, one-on-one interview with award-winning director Rory Kennedy. In her own words, Thomas reflects back on her modest upbringing by illiterate immigrant parents, through her storied career and the distinct personalities and foibles of the presidents she has covered, to some of the scandals that have rocked the White House over the years. "Thank You, Mr. President: Helen Thomas at the White House" debuts Monday, August 18 (9:00-9:45 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO.

So sorry I don’t have HBO….I’ve loved her for years…..Starting in the JFK years….was she there before? She is one of the reasons that I always thought that it was OK to be smart and to challenge authority in the name of truth-seeking and in public…… When is her birthday, Peggy Rometo? I want to send her a note………

A completely, wonderful and thoroughly admirable woman…and a delight. She said that JFK was the best president the U.S. ever had and GWB the worst, and that Jackie was the most organized person she’d ever met. “She could run GM!” She also said Jackie was so bright and quotable. I loved that: “But you’re the President.” LOL. She was so tenacious, and her tenacity is lovable. Nothing can stop her. My appreciation of her has a tenacious quality. Tenacious, Adj. 1) not readily letting go of, giving up, or separated from an object that one holds, a position or a principle. 2)not easily dispelled or discouraged, persisting in existence or a course of action. ;-) There is so much you can learn from a dictionary.
