Prices at the pump hit another record high Thursday as the average national cost per gallon of regular gas jumped 2.3 cents overnight to $3.556, according to AAA. Whose fault is this? How long will prices hover in this expensive range? Click here to read the story on Yahoo and click here to read about one Wisconsin gas station owner who shut down his pumps in protest. Can’t we get Lesley Stahl to do a piece on Stan Meyer and other geniuses who have disappeared. Maybe Al Gore or Michael Moore should do a doc on this topic of stifled alternative energy choices. Watch this and weep! This man knew he would be murdered and he was! I mentioned this later in this blog too - forgive the repetition, but I really think it would be good to see Americans do a story on it. This was a British program from 10 years ago. Just think, we may not have had a war if his ideas were properly financed and put into action. But no corporation in the world wants to follow through on a concept that allows for “free energy.” Lesley, please watch this! If it won’t load then just google “Equinox: It Runs on Water” and it should bring you to the link. http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=2464139837181538044&q=it+runs +on+water&total=1507&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0

i cannot believe that people do not realize how much power they have as a collective group…i have always wondered if, indeed, just stopping using gas, oil, plastics, etc..would indeed drop oil cartels to their knees…

A Boycott ONLY hurts the Station Owner, BIG OIL is to Blame for the Food Crisis too. Have YOU EVER HEARD BUSH ASK BIG OIL TO SHARE OUR PAIN AT THE PUMP? LVKen7 at gmail dot com

….and vice versa, cherokee Rose. The oil producing countries as well as China could bring us to our knees without firing a shot by just withholding all the sales of oil and demanding payment of their loans. Whole sale starvation and panic would sweep the cities in no time. Goods and produce couldn’t be hauled, farmers would be helpless. This country would come to a stand still. It would be disaster. If you think there have been food riots in other countries, you have no idea of the scope of what could happen here. Our economy would grind to a stop. We have to find some alternative uses for oil that can be put to use in just a few years. Jimmy Carter suggested that when he was president and was laughed at. We get too late smart.

How much research into alternative energy and creation of new infrastructure for delivery of same would the bill for the Iraq war have paid for? the ignorance, arrogance, and greed of our current leaders has cost us dearly.

Mugsy, the car companies have stuffed brilliant ideas for moving away from the gas engine for decades now. They pay a million dollars for the rights to many ideas then put them in a safe somewhere locked away. Too many people at the top are benefiting from these crises. http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=2464139837181538044&q=it+runs +on+water&total=1507&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0 On the video I attached is one brilliant man who had an idea… I saw this and goggled him to find out where he is now, only to find that he was murdered. I hope you have time to watch it.

Mugsy, today I spent the day at the Alternative Building Supplies convention in Santa Monica. It was great. I was so pleased to see the wide variety of businesses that supply alternative. There is a mandate coming down as to the level of green that must be included in all new commercial projects. One of the best exhibits was just informational of how they are taking what is not recyclable in building or demoing, and burning it without oxygen (clean) to make electricity. The City of LA has been working on creating more of these ‘stations’. I had heard about this project, but was surprised about how well it was progressing.

Tell me what was so wrong with the so-called “failed Presidency” of Jimmy Carter? Who failed who? Makes about as much sense as celebrating Ronald Reagan as a hero.

I agree, RoseMerry. What we have to do is get out there on election day and make sure McCain doesn’t win Dubya’s third term, or it’s more Reaganomics, more war, and more poverty.

RoseMerry, I always thought Carter was an honest man, but he was naive and the sharks in Washington screwed him around pretty good. He never seemed to have the altitude it took to get things done. It seemed like he was always trying to get the Middle East to see that we were fair and just, which was his spiritual pride, he couldn’t see beyond that. Sadat was going to leave the talks at Camp David and Carter pressed the issue with him to stay saying that Sadat was pulling the rug out from under him. Sadat knew that many in his country would be unhappy with the deals presented, Carter wanted to look like the guy who could solve the Middle East - I think for his own presidential legacy. Sadat was the real hero because he conceded to Carter and he was later assassinated. The oil embargo. etc. Later he helped out the Shah and then we had the embassy in Iran taken over and the hostage situation, and he really fumbled the rescue attempt. Unemployment was close to double digits and interest rates were way up in double digits. I worked for a mortgage banking firm at the time and it was tough. Anyway, he set the stage for Reagan.
