Tina Fey Voted Entertainer of the Year, Thanks Her Lucky Stars for Sarah Palin

Tina Fey owes John McCain a big kiss.

Sarah Palin, the widely unknown governor of Alaska who shot to fame when McCain chose her as his Republican running mate, was undoubtedly the best thing to happen to Tina Fey. The 38-year-old producer and actress became one of the most popular women on television when she would appear on the sketch comedy show "Saturday Night Live" as the conservative Palin. Fey’s impersonation of Palin was spot on — with her wink, accent (dropping the letter "g" at the end of words), her dodging of reporters’ questions, her repeated use of the word "maverick" and her beauty-pageant poses.

Her impersonations weren’t just funny, according to the Associated Press, they served a cultural impact. For it, Fey has been voted AP’s Entertainer of the Year, an annual honor chosen by newspaper editors and broadcast producers across the country.

I think we can all agree that Tina Fey played a great Sarah Palin and the fact that this discussion went so sour was just awful. I use to be one of the one’s who said “marriage should be between a man and woman” but then I had to stop and really think about that…Who am I to say that? I was not put on this earth to judge others and how they live their lives…I was put on this earth to grow, get married and have children to grow GOD’s army against Satan…If some want to do that with others of the same sex who am I to tell them NO? They can adopt kids and give those kids a great life I say go for it. If they love each other as my hubby and I love each other, so be it. Just b/c they cant have sex like we do, oh well, they find their own ways. Does it boil down to not understanding the others life style? If that is the case then we should all hate each other b/c we all lead different life styles. My home is not the same as this home or that home…So why does two men or two women loving each other and wanting to have a life together make so many people upset?

Merrel, your post on Dan Quayle made my point. We still hear about “potatoe” but nothing about “57 states”. Son of a rich guy, Quayle could well have whangled a commission in the National Guard, but he joined as a private and worked his way up to sergeant. Anyone with military experience knows that, unlike commissions, stripes indeed have to be earned. In combat I learned that the tactic of demeaning the capabilities of one’s foes was a one way ticket to defeat, a rookie’s bluster. In a half century of engineering I learned to look behind the promise and at the performance, and the gas line is under way.

LOL I can’t go anywhere on this website without discovering bickering between two nonexistent “sides”. I mean I was expecting to read about a comedian and instead it’s more bigotry, rehashing, and arguments about a pseudo-politician whose 15 minutes technically ended EXACTLY two months ago. This is what I get, though; perhaps I should just stop venturing beyond the only section of WOW that hasn’t been quite so tainted with politics yet, aka the Sandbox.
