Two From Palin Team Face Ethics Investigation

Some say Sarah Palin’s intentionally trying to stay in the spotlight, but here’s a story we’re sure the politician’s not about to embrace.
Alaska political activist Andree McLeod intends on filing an ethics complaint against two of Palin’s top aides, Kris Perry and Bill McAllister. Perry and McAllister — who work as the Anchorage Office manager and Press Secretary, respectively — allegedly violated laws by engaging in bipartisan politics while on the governor’s state-funded pay roll. McAllister helped during the Republican National Convention, while Perry traveled for six weeks during Palin’s vice-presidential campaign — two big violations of state laws.
Said McLeod of the alleged violations, "These campaign activities have absolutely nothing to do with the public’s business, and everything to do with promoting Palin’s personal endeavors and political aspirations. This must not go unchallenged."
This challenge couldn’t come at a worse time for Palin: The governor’s been working hard to push her renewable energy plan, a plan, some claim, that she intends on using as a springboard for a potential 2012 presidential run. She and her peers are also hoping to rein in the state’s economy. With those tasks at hand, Palin’s team can hardly afford a political distraction such as an ethics investigation.
Meanwhile, Palin’s former running mate, John McCain, doesn’t seem to have much hope for her supposed presidential aspirations. Asked by Larry King last week whether he would support her in 2012, McCain instead mentioned one of his friends. "Yes. I think it would be — I don’t know who’s running, for one thing, because, for example, my friend Jon Kyl, my colleague from Arizona. So it would be improper …" Mr. McCain went on to say he’ll "always be grateful to Sarah Palin for her friendship and her strong principles and leadership." That’s quite the polite — and impersonal — response! Could it be that love’s been lost? Sounds that way …
