Vice Presidential Debate Reader Forum

She’s the ingenue from igloo-land who says Alaskans watch for Russian planes invading US airspace.  He’s the beltway boss who claims that President Franklin Roosevelt calmed the nation on TV when the 1929 stock market crashed, somehow forgetting that Hoover was President and that TV had yet to be invented.

No, you can’t make this up, but you can weigh in with your friends here on www.wowOwow.com, on Thursday night at 9 PM, as the Mistress and the Master of the Malaprop meet for their only debate of the Election Season.

Thursday, October 2, 9 PM EST

Aren’t they cute next to each other?

Sibelle…I actually do think both are handsome people. But it will be the words which come from their mouths which will entertain. I have a feeling some things will sound pretty dumb and some things will be far fetched. Both are talkers so I’m sure the mouths will run over the time limits. But, who knows, this debate may win an emmy for the best entertainment show this year. Bring it on! I have my popcorn ready!

Well, sibelle, our girl (Gov. Palin) hit a home run. She was a knowledgeable on the issues as Obama would have been, and she did well standing up to the living-history-guy, Senator Biden. And, incidentally, Gwen Ifill’s professionalism is intact. She did a good and fair job moderating. Senator McCain was right to trust her.

They are cute, and I’ll bet Sarah exceeds all expectations during this debate. But great rhetorical skill also masks personal bias and hidden agendas. I wonder if it’s possible anymore, to see through the disguise? On that note: - John McCain’s Halloween Trick - Today, John McCain said: “I have always had 100 percent absolute truth and that’s been my life of putting my country first. And I’ll match that record against anyone’s. And I’m proud of it. And an assertion that I have ever done otherwise I take strong exception to.” One month after 9/11, McCain used Dave Letterman’s forum to treat the public to a joke about Bin Laden and to fire up warnings that the US would go into Iraq - to fight back against…’anthrax.’ His joke was the height of hilarity. People were terrified. McCain pronounced that Bin Laden would be killed or captured by Halloween. Video and article: http://thinkprogress.org/2008/09/11/mccain-iraq-911

Emcye, to see through the disguise of either side, is the fun of politics! Who one votes for,is a different and personal story. Some don’t vote at all.Take care.

sibelle: “Aren’t they cute next to each other?” What’s your point? No, on second thought, don’t share it with us!

Tonight’s debate was exceptional. I retract my comment that the debates are not more than posturing - this was refreshing, invigorating and a true debate. My hat is off to both Palin and Biden. It is a pleasure to see two lightning rods for criticism show up, put up and give us all what we were looking for. My vote was ‘cast’ essentially weeks ago if not longer. I am proud of Palin’s ability for this debate and overjoyed that Biden brought for me anyway the stellar poise to take the day.

I have this nagging feeling she’ll drop out before 9 PM tomorrow. I have nothing to base this on.

Lorraine, I know what you mean. I keep wondering if her daughter will go into labor or what emergency that will occur that keeps her from the debate. I sure hope that she does make it. I am actually hoping that she does well. I do not want the McCain/ Palin ticket, but their is a chance that they will be our next President and Vice president, so I am hoping that I can have some confidence in her. Than their is the Little Devil side of me, that can hardly wait for Saturday Night Live this week.

Lorraine, It is so weird that you say that because I have thought along similar lines. I also have envisioned her running off the stage in tears during the debate.
