Vice Presidential Debate Reader Forum

She’s the ingenue from igloo-land who says Alaskans watch for Russian planes invading US airspace.  He’s the beltway boss who claims that President Franklin Roosevelt calmed the nation on TV when the 1929 stock market crashed, somehow forgetting that Hoover was President and that TV had yet to be invented.

No, you can’t make this up, but you can weigh in with your friends here on www.wowOwow.com, on Thursday night at 9 PM, as the Mistress and the Master of the Malaprop meet for their only debate of the Election Season.

Thursday, October 2, 9 PM EST

I may be aware, but they’re highly skilled. I wonder if shrinks invisibly visit and take notes.

The spiders eat the shrinks at night so they cannot take notes! It’s a mess!

Susan: …there are spiders lurking in this blog, waiting to jump at the slightest provocation or cruising around it looking for an opportunity to pick a fight. Yup. I like the metaphor, easy to visualize and oh so accurate. What happy hearts these people must have. Can you imagine spending your days insulting and belittling people?

We all know people like that in our “real” lives. I know I do. We should try to keep an eye out for them and resist the temptation to engage, and maybe they’ll go elsewhere.

Mistress and the Master of the Malaprop meet for their only debate of the Election Season. Should be fun. Hope they don’t disappoint us.

I have a hard time watching figure skating (anticipating a fall or a failure to catch an airborne partner) and when I think of watching this debate, that’s how it feels. It is hard to watch someone really make a fool of herself and when I listen to Palin I am reminded of George W. Bush: incoherent when unscripted. I am grateful that Gwen Ifill will be moderating this debate. At least it will be impossible to accuse her of sexism. I continue to believe that, at the last minute, there will be a family crisis in Alaska.

Hey! I can accuse Palin of sexism. I’m sure she she’s herself as the exception, but I’m pretty confident she would advise “most women” to stay home and take care of the kitchen.

Step away from the BLOG!
Anyone in SF—-Very funny store display window at Marc Jacobs at the corner of Fillmore and Sacramento in Pacific Heights. Full height Bush, McCain, Sarah in a bikini with a rifle..all of them with bling-bling gold dollar sign necklaces…you get the drill. Can’t remember the entire thing as some man standing next to me looking at it started up a 20 min conversation….nice man. Then went to grocery store and two 1/2 bags for $100. Sheesh! And the check-out lady told me she rang up an order for $1,000. an hr earlier. Good wines, salmon, steaks, flowers etc. hmmm.

Only in San Francisco! And thank heaven for San Francisco, lest we all take the “patriots” (who typically pass for noble) in this world too seriously. I’m going to check out that window tomorrow. Mollie Stone’s? No wonder.

Susan, Ha. I didn’t even say Mollie Stone—you guessed it. Like the store but they really are overpriced.

I figured that it was either Mollie Stone or Whole Foods/Whole Paycheck, and since you were talking about Pacific Heights, I knew what it had to be.

Completely with you on the Gwen Ifill thing. Not only does this remove the sexist issue, but I doubt Ifill will let Palin off the hook if she starts to give the kind nonsensical answers that she gave in her interviews with Couric. I am sure however that republicans will spin Ifill as being part of the liberal elitist media (something I personally find to be an admirable, if the alternative is Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and all of the other right-wing blowhards).

The NewsHour is about as impartial as one can get on TV these days. I don’t get the concern about Gwen. Who would they have, Bill-O, I suppose?
