Palin: Without Bailout, U.S. May Be Headed Toward Another Great Depression (Video)

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

Sarah Palin has used the dreaded "D" word.

The United States could be headed for another Great Depression if Congress doesn’t act fast to steady the economy, the Republican vice-presidential candidate said Wednesday.

Palin was interviewed by "CBS Evening News" anchor Katie Couric. In response to whether we’re headed toward another depression if Congress doesn’t approve the $700 bailout package, Palin said: "Unfortunately, that is the road that America may find itself on."

"Not necessarily this as it’s been proposed has to pass or we’re going to find ourselves in another Great Depression, but there has got to be action taken, bipartisan effort, Congress – not pointing fingers, at this point, at one another – but finding a solution to this, taking action and being serious about the reforms on Wall Street that are needed," she added.

Calling this a "crisis moment for America, really the rest of the world," Palin said inaction could lead to the "ultimate adverse effects on Main Street."

Palin’s interview with Couric came during her visit to New York to meet with foreign leaders at the United Nations. As the Alaska governor sought to establish her credentials in world affairs, First Lady Laura Bush said Palin lacked sufficient foreign policy experience but was "a quick study."

Laura Bush told CNN that she thought Palin had "a lot of really good common sense" and commended her executive experience.

Palin’s popularity also may be dropping a bit. She gave John McCain quite a boost when he named her to his ticket to defeat Barack Obama in the White House race.

USA Today reports that earlier this month, an Associated Press-Yahoo News poll showed more people viewing Palin favorably than unfavorably, 47% to 28%. But an ABC News-Washington Post poll released Wednesday showed that in a two-week period, the number seeing Palin positively dropped 6 percentage points while 10 points more see her unfavorably. On Monday, a CNN-Opinion Research poll showed her favorable rating dropping 4 points and her unfavorable rating rising eight points over two weeks.

Without Bailout, U.S. May Be Headed Toward Another Great Depression” I know we can survive another Great Depression, but I am sure we can not survive this Administration( or one that looks just like it! Even in a dress) any longer or it’s Bailout!

Not surprising at all. This country is desperate for leadership. Someone who leads, definition: “Influencing a group of people to move towards its goal setting or goal achievement”. Not …”I’ll have to get back to you on that”.

We really need to stop listening to anything Sarah Palin has to say. Let’s face it , she’s half a bubble off plumb, and the Republicans probably know what they’re doing in not letting her answer impromptu questions. Even with scripted answers, she did poorly against Katie Couric. Saying that America may be on the road to a Depression sounds like more Republican terrorist tactics to me.

I’m just shocked at what’s happened to leadership in this country. Sarah PALIN. Are you KIDDING? And what exactly is it that makes her an expert on our national economy? a couple weeks of being hand fed a dogma? I may have to start spending my mornings with people.com or eonline.com just to keep from being so bummed out.

Firstly, and also important that you all understand my point of view, I am sure that Sarah Palin is just like every other person. Some people think she is just super, and some just do not like her personality, at all. If I were to meet her in person, I might even like her—-she is quirky, and I like meeting quirky people. She is said to be smart, and Laura Bush says she is a quick study. My guess is that most of those who post here, would be thought of exactly the same, were a poll to be taken. But at the beginning of this interview, I felt that Palin was ‘searching’ for the meat of a response, rather than ‘knowing’ that the meat was being served FROM her table. She seemed lost—her words being filibustered around the table, until she could come up with an answer. I was confused, as I couldn;t grasp her point. When I do this, my family reminds me that “I have a tendency to walk around the block in order to get to the front door—(when all I had to do, was walk directly to the front door). So Palin is creative! ha! My bottom line is this: She may be smart, she may be a quick study. Those are traits we look for when hiring a brand new employee for an entry level position. To be ‘qualified’ for a higher level of responsiblity, however, one must ALSO have solid experience, as opposed to peripheral experience. One must have experiential knowledge of how things work, rather than a Cliff Notes overview. One must be able to communicate in a multi-dimensional way, as a V.P., as a ‘leader’, so that WHAT is said, can be understood by many, and without creating more fear and more unanswered questions. I just do not think that Palin is ‘there’ yet. If she wants to go into national politics, then she should run for the house of the senate in her State, on the National level, or put her energies into learning how to maneuver at that level. I know a little bit about a lot of things—I can tell you about electricity, for instance, as my brother, the commercial electrician thinks out loud, a lot, and I am the ‘listener’. But don;t ask me to actually solve an electrical problem—I would probably burn the house down, because I just don’t know the tweeks and what it is I can and cannot do, to make something work. And neither does Palin.

Another thought just jumped into my brain! Do you think, that John McCain, believes that Palin doesn;t really need to know that much, BECAUSE there will be all those ‘others’ in the White House, that can do her ‘work’ for her? And that all she is required to do is parrot what they tell her? So she would have the ‘title’….but the actual job will be done by McCain’s Republican buddies? What if McCain felt that if he picked anyone else, he, himself, would be overshadowed whenever there was a crisis he needed help with? I have met a lot of so-so executives with employees who SHOULD have been the executive, and that Exec who SHOULD have been working for their employee! I think Mitt Romney threatened McCain’s sense of security, and I think that with the economy in such bad shape, had Romney been selected, he would have overshadowed McCain, and McCain is not willing to let that happen—-no matter WHAT is best for the country! s shape,

Absolutely I said that along time ago, McCain has no respect for Women she is a Pawn that he can move around, When ever it is convenient for him, he does Not Want to be over shadowed, he wants the spot light, That’s why she is in the hush hush right now i’m telling you he will be a Dictator, And as intelligent as everyone thinks she is She would have figured this out by now, He saw he could manipulate her to be a yes sir no sir kinda woman! He will just shove her in a corner if they get into the white house never asking her for her Opinion, And if he kills over what you said will happen, they will do it all she will just come out and talk!

Palin is a Post Turtle The story goes like this: After suturing a cut on a 75 year old Texas rancher, whose hand had been caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the rancher. Eventually the topic got around to candidates - specifically Sarah Palin The old rancher said, “well, ya know, Sarah is a post turtle”. Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a ‘post turtle’ was. The old rancher said when you’re driving down a country road, and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a post turtle. The old rancher noticed a puzzled look on the doctor’s face, so he continued to explain. “You know she didn’t get up there by herself, she doesn’t belong up there, and she doesn’t know what to do while she is up there, and you have to just wonder what kind of idiot put her up there in the first place.”
