Tina Fey Steals SNL Show With Palin Impersonation (Video)

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

No, that wasn’t John McCain’s running mate Sarah Palin on "Saturday Night Live" this past weekend.

It was, in fact, her near twin, comedienne and “30 Rock” star Tina Fey. Doing a skit with "SNL" regular Amy Poehler playing Hillary Clinton in a joint "nonpartisan" address on the "ugly role that sexism is playing in the campaign” on the premiere of the 34th season of the show, Fey’s impersonation of Palin — both in appearance and accent — was dead on.

“And I can see Russia from my house,” “Palin” said as to why she’s experienced in foreign policy in the skit, while global warming is just “God hugging us closer.”

Playing off the news of ABC anchorman Charles Gibson’s interview with Palin last week, the sketch has Poehler’s Clinton saying she doesn’t agree with the Bush Doctrine (the U.S. concept of military preemption before we are attacked). Fey’s Palin quickly adds, "I don’t even know what that is." Palin was also used as target practice in the "Weekend Update" segment.

Olympic multi-gold medal swimming phenom Michael Phelps also starred.

I truly believe this was very funny, Fey and Poehler were great. Fey did a fabulous job. Hope we will see more of Fey in the next couple of months. Poehler who also played Hillary in the fall I think hit the nail on the head about sexism, lipstick and anyone, anyone, anyone. Yes I just should have wanted it more. I can hardly wait for Sarah Palin to explain to the American people about her deep understanding of our economy, banking systems and wall street, I am sure she will have some great advice on how to fix it. Better yet can’t wait to see Fey clue us in. McCain is calling for more reforms, they will clean up Wall Street, I think I would rather listen to Warren Buffet and Alan Greenspan, I have more faith on their take then the McCain/Palin ticket. I am sure someone involved with Keating 5 can help us clean everything up.

Superb! Outstanding. Laughed my head off. Then felt sick to my stomach with fear Palin may actually, really and truly wind up president of these United States.

Life does imitate art. Tina Fey and John McCain performed together when he hosted the show a few years ago. And they both worked in a get out the vote campaign that had their pic on a Life Magazine cover. I wonder if we noticed when he met Sarah Palin how closely she resembled Tina Fey? I was also impressed that in this bit, the SNL wardrobe department and Amy Poehler managed to conceal Amy’s pregnancy.

Maybe he got the two of them mixed up and really thought he knew Palin longer when picked her, was actually remembering Fey?

Who knows how people’s minds works? That could actually be close to the truth. Although someone here mentioned that Palin also resembles McCain’s first wife. So maybe he liked Tina [a Hillary supporter, by the way] because she looked like Carol.

I could watch this skit for hours (I actually did so yesterday). This was sheer brilliance. They both nailed it. “I can see Russia from my house!” - LMAO PS: Why isn´t this on the front page where it belongs?

I dislike both of the women being portrayed so much that I find it difficult to see the humor.

Hello, good morning, sister of the beautiful avatar….I thought I would write to you somewhere way off thread so as not to disrupt others’ threadiness… I am still stumbling my way into the newest century with my gift Mac (sans tutor or tutorials)…so I wondered if you could tell me how to send a link to someone…the “http” that appears in blue in someone’s post to send us to a site…. If you have time to answer, please assume you are speaking to a five-year old! Thank you so much….. We were off the grid here for almost a week starting the 14th after a huge windstorm that was Ike’s backlash…it was not widely reported given the devestation in the South….our closest city, Louisville, wasn’t completely restored until yesterday…eleven days…. I’d love to speak with you about art making…sneak in here somewhere when you have time….we can be quiet as mice…..and not disturb those in the fray….I really got along fine during the blackout….sort of refreshed from the silence……thank you….

Hi Georgia. You are correct about Kentucky and Ike not being reported. I heard nothing about Kentucky being affected at all — or it just didn’t get through the din of all the other horrible news. Very glad you are well. We haven’t had that kind of bad weather in years; we’re certainly due. About links — for this site, it is an automatic function; you do nothing but type in the address. All you have to do is “copy” the whole address from the top of the site you want to reference. Then, when you type in your post here on wOw all you need to do is make sure the address is complete (that is, it starts with http:// etc ) and the wOw website does the rest. I find it works best if you put the site address on a line all by itself — with no other text on the same line — just the address itself. Once in a wihle it doesn’t work. Don’t worry. Most people know to “copy” the address and the paste it into their address window at the very top of the screen and they can get there anyway. About art: I have little little time for it. It only goes on in my head. Sometimes though I’m bursting with the need to make it real and tangible, but those times come less and less often these day. Must work. Just work. Bye for now, Georgia.

I thought it was hysterical. Quite honestly, if Tina Fey and Sarah Palin were standing side by side, I think I would have had a great deal of difficulty telling them apart. Amy Poehler was also very funny, but she needs to have a lower and flatter voice to sound more like Hillary —- HRC’s voice and her pants suits are her signature.

Tina Fey is brilliant! I hope she visits SNL weekly to play Palin. Especially when the debates get rolling. The show has not been the same since Fey left and stopped writing for it. Amy Poehler and Seth Myers are the only reason I continue to tune in. The skit was great! It was just like old times - when SNL was funny. I vote to bring back Tina Fey to Weekend Update! I don’t know how Palin felt about the skit - but it is a fact that Clinton enjoys Amy Poehler’s impersonation of her and has stated it on several occasions. Clinton also did a guest spot on SNL with Poehler. For all those who missed it - you should look it up: It’s super funny.
