Tina Fey Steals SNL Show With Palin Impersonation (Video)

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

No, that wasn’t John McCain’s running mate Sarah Palin on "Saturday Night Live" this past weekend.

It was, in fact, her near twin, comedienne and “30 Rock” star Tina Fey. Doing a skit with "SNL" regular Amy Poehler playing Hillary Clinton in a joint "nonpartisan" address on the "ugly role that sexism is playing in the campaign” on the premiere of the 34th season of the show, Fey’s impersonation of Palin — both in appearance and accent — was dead on.

“And I can see Russia from my house,” “Palin” said as to why she’s experienced in foreign policy in the skit, while global warming is just “God hugging us closer.”

Playing off the news of ABC anchorman Charles Gibson’s interview with Palin last week, the sketch has Poehler’s Clinton saying she doesn’t agree with the Bush Doctrine (the U.S. concept of military preemption before we are attacked). Fey’s Palin quickly adds, "I don’t even know what that is." Palin was also used as target practice in the "Weekend Update" segment.

Olympic multi-gold medal swimming phenom Michael Phelps also starred.

Pamela, I too, miss Tina Fey on SNL - I don’t even bother to watch it anymore. Amy is hillarious, but she doesn’t get enough air time, and it becomes boring for me. Sadly, I missed this segment, as well. Thanks for the descriptions though, it helps to picture it in my mind, and get a good laugh anyway… :)

Dear Liz, As always, you bring me what I want to see. Thank you so much. Of course, I saw all the clips of the clip on all the news shows that felt like Palin handled the interview well. (sigh) I think Palin’s experience as an on-air sportscaster will be the most valuable thing she brings to poor ol’ John. And I don’t think Obama will throw a woman like Senator Clinton out of his closest circle of advisors. He hasn’t so far. She’ll be spending plenty of time in the oval office if I don’t miss my guess. Now, I’ve GOT to start to start reading your COLUMN, ‘cause I love what you bring to the table.

I bet Hillary loved it , every single bit off it. I guess I should have just wanted it more. anyone anyone yes just anyone could be in the White House. I would love to have been a fly on the wall at the Clinton home or perhaps they tivo’d it but nevertheless I bet they got a big laugh.

As befits a neocon, Missy Fancy Pants doesn’t think she needs to cooperate with the “troopergate” investigation. She just thinks she will just ignore it. She is above the law, doncha know, and if you think you can make her cooperate with the law, go ahead and try. Disgusting, disgusting, disgusting. This whole election comes down to whether or not we are a country governed by law or by bullies.

When SNL aired their 34th season premiere, Palin was watching it behind a curtain, but her remark was overheard. According to her spokesperson Tracy Schmitt, the real Sarah Palin had a good laugh along with the press corps in the back of the plane and millions of Americans at home. “She thought it was quite funny, particularly because she once dressed up as Tina Fey for Halloween,” Schmitt said.

That’s why it’s so odd that now the McCain camp is coming out saying it was sexist to Palin, she found it funny! He is finding everything sexist, maybe we should put lipstick on him.

Yes, that’s what I thought. She’s a pretender.

Amy Poehler’s a better talent than Tina Fey, in my opinion.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler nailed it. I thought the skit was perfect. Palin has no business in the White House. One would think SHE was running for President, from the press.

It was the best skit I’ve seen on SNL in years!
