Welcome to wowOwow and Thank You!

Welcome! We launched on March 8th, the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day. And we’ve been so happy with your responses to our site and to our questions. (Our first Question of the Day – Which four women would you like to see on Mt. Rushmore? — has received more than 2,000 e-mails and 150 on-site comments. We will tally the votes on Friday, so you still have time to get yours in.)

WowOwow is a party — disguised as a website — where we meet for coffee (in our robes) and for cocktails (without any makeup) and even in the middle of the night (someone’s always up!). Here, we can talk to our readers, invite the most interesting guests, share experiences, tell tales out of school, exchange gossip and news — and make some of our own.

WowOwow is created, written and owned by Lesley Stahl, Peggy Noonan, Liz Smith, Joni Evans, Mary Wells, Sheila Nevins, Joan Juliet Buck, Whoopi Goldberg, Julia Reed, Joan Ganz Cooney, Judith Martin, Candice Bergen, Lily Tomlin, Jane Wagner and Marlo Thomas.

Here’s what you’ll see:

What we want is to hear from you. On every page is a comment box ("Talk to Us") for you to share your opinions, which will become an integral part of the site. Your reactions, ideas and recommendations are crucial to us. Tell us what you like, don’t like and what you want to see. Tell us everything.

You are our guests. So, sit down, put your feet up and talk to us.

Just watched the show on GMA about this site and it made quite an impression. To be able to discuss our concerns with such an impressive panel is truly and inspiration. Since it’s my first time in here I will review the site more thoroughly, and make comments where necessary. This feels like an open book of discussion on any topic we so wish to delve on. This is a great site to share our concerns. Thank you.

Manners! There are many things in life I can tolerate but meanness is the most difficult. I was taught as a child “if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t speak”. I agree it is not always easy but readers please do try. Here is another forum of free speech with women who are trying to do good things, let’s use it to motivate and encourage not bash or insult. If the site is not to your liking just move on to the next one. I guess I am an old fashioned sole and believe my grandmother’s words that nothing is more attractive and respected than a woman who acts like a lady. Not that I am a paragon of virture and certainly not always a lady, but I do try to honor her memory. My grandmother’s definition of a lady (the shortened version)- educated, polite/well mannered, kind, respectful, honorable, graceful, a good friend and most of all has integrity for herself.

I just heard about this site today on Good Morning America. How fantastic to have such a fabulous group of role models at our fingertips! I can’t wait to see where this site goes and how I can be a part of it. Thanks for starting such a much needed forum.

Finally, it is exciting to me to be able to go to such a wonderful, refreshing and intelligent site considering all the insanity going on in the world.

Grasping my coffee mug and clutching my bathrobe, I listened as Diane Sawyer announced this WOW site. Bless you, this may just work. Several years ago my friend, Lori Beldo, rolled out a similar vehicle, dubbed WBO, a networking resource. So here is my suggestion, why not add networking to this great women’s venue? As for me??? I need to get my novel published, and I’m looking under rocks and old candy wrappers for an agent. Will this site be advantageous to my cause? Of course it will…who knows? Good Luck, Ladies, you ROCK

I do hope that we change the world. As a working woman of 25 years in the automootive industry - gender discrimination, unequal pay and sexual harrassment are still rampant. We have one last “push” to birth our equality. I hope the overt sexism we have seen in this election enlightens and unites women to the prevelent acceptance and comraderee “humor” of degrading women. I have also been so discouraged by the sexism in women toward women. I hope this site for women unites women beyond just “hair days”.

Hey from Tennessee! Still working my way around the site…looks interesting so far, although I’m way too practical for the astrology nonsense, but I have enough of a sense of humor to enjoy the weather disguised as a Bad Hair Day report. HA! I think you ought to know that I actually coined that phrase (Bad Hair Day) back in 1972. It has made it around the world and up until now no one knew where it came from…er, from whence it came.

Fancy, “Bad hair day”, humm let me think - I beleive a beautiful retreat/come-back to critics. Are you Barbra Striesand? Today after view GMA not fucusing on one individual I am sure this this site is a blossoming wealth of inspiration for woman and humaniarian ideas. I wish I could get involved. I know I’ll be one that could loose and intellectual conversation, but that is what I really really want. I mean even the birds are having cat fights just out-side my door. However can the wren nurture her baby birds when the sparrow is spiking her with it’s aggressive tendencies? Perserverience I guess. “What’s up in her neck of the woods?”
