Welcome to wowOwow and Thank You!

Joni Evans

Welcome! We launched on March 8th, the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day. And we’ve been so happy with your responses to our site and to our questions. (Our first Question of the Day – Which four women would you like to see on Mt. Rushmore? — has received more than 2,000 e-mails and 150 on-site comments. We will tally the votes on Friday, so you still have time to get yours in.)

WowOwow is a party — disguised as a website — where we meet for coffee (in our robes) and for cocktails (without any makeup) and even in the middle of the night (someone’s always up!). Here, we can talk to our readers, invite the most interesting guests, share experiences, tell tales out of school, exchange gossip and news — and make some of our own.

WowOwow is created, written and owned by Lesley Stahl, Peggy Noonan, Liz Smith, Joni Evans, Mary Wells, Sheila Nevins, Joan Juliet Buck, Whoopi Goldberg, Julia Reed, Joan Ganz Cooney, Judith Martin, Candice Bergen, Lily Tomlin, Jane Wagner and Marlo Thomas.

Here’s what you’ll see:

What we want is to hear from you. On every page is a comment box ("Talk to Us") for you to share your opinions, which will become an integral part of the site. Your reactions, ideas and recommendations are crucial to us. Tell us what you like, don’t like and what you want to see. Tell us everything.

You are our guests. So, sit down, put your feet up and talk to us.

Great beginning. Thank you for this great site. Heard about it from Lynn Samuels and Joan Hamburg on two very different radio stations and now I see that Whoopi is involved. I look forward to the diversity of opinions.

Thank you, Good Morning America, for informing me about this site! What a great idea for those of us who enjoy chatting with our peers. You may be famous, infamous and/or well-known personalities, but many of us consider you our peers. It will be wonderful to “hear” your thoughts on a variety of subjects and not be limited by time and commercials. Thank you WOW ladies for sharing with the rest of us. It’s going to be great fun!

This is a wonderful site———has anyone here discussed the bias media AGAINST Hillary yet? It’s sexism at it’s worst! Will someone let me know if you’ve discussed it yet??? It needs to continue to be discussed in the public arena at LEAST until this election is over.Thank you for this opportunity,Carole

Seriously????? Come on now, if you don’t like the lack of Latina’s, or Asian or African-American, or that this site doesn’t explain why Hillary is referred to as Senator from Punjab, or think you can get more educated columns from the Harvard Business Review, please just don’t logon!! If you want to join in on the fun, have a drink (or little white pill) put on your bunny slippers & enjoy!! Otherwise, please move on to cnn (see if you’ll find better education tv there). Geeezzz….Life is short, relax a little!

Fabulous idea and an absolutely remarkable group of women. Truly WOW in every sense of the word. As a writer, I’ve found blogging (http://blog.myspace.com/franfriel) to be a remarkable way to reach folks of like mind and of unlike mind. It’s amazing how people come together and find common ground, blossoming through the opportunity to simply connect and express themselves. Viva la WOW! May your success be magnificent. Warmest Regards, Fran Friel

Love the website - Thanks GMA. Look forward to hanging out here and meeting many new friends. I was a Host on AOL for nine years for the professional forums. Thru that we made many friends in real life (IRL) and continue to meet and share so many ideas, thoughts and daily experiences. Being part of an Internet family is a wonderful thing. << waving to all. Maybe we should have an Intro section where we can introduce ourselves and share information that might help each other. For instance I am a chef of thirty plus years - love to talk cooking. Just a thought…….
