Who Would You Love to be in the Dark With for Earth Hour?

Mary Wells

Who would you love to be in the dark with for Earth Hour?

Such a good idea should not go unloved. The entire world is going to celebrate Earth Hour at 8pm on March 29. All the info is at: www.earthhour.org. So much good will happen to our world because we turn off our lights for just one hour. And think of all the other things that will happen. Imagine it. It’s black. There are no lights except star lights. And candlelight. And firelight. Maybe angel-light. Who would you like to share the stars with, to touch, to feel, to abandon yourself to, to remember with, to lie to, to tickle, to giggle with, to make up stories  for, to sing to, to nuzzle, to tell poems to, to wonder about the universe with, to have a new idea with, to plan making things greener with, to smell the grass with, to feel the wonder of it all with, to be deeply moved with, to be happy to be alive with?

Hi Josie, I thought the image was really fun too. I’d long forgotten Dippity Doo, but do remember ironing my hair. My father came in the laundry room the first time I tried it. He had a fit! Can you tell me how to upload? Thanks much, Suzanne

Suzanne- Click on your name at the top right of the computer. Then, at the bottom of your profile you will see the opportunity to add an image. So, click that and you should get a choice to browse your photos in your computer. If you don’t have any then you can google “funny pics”. When you find one that you like right click on it and then choose “save image as”. Don’t pick images that are too large. I can NOT believe I am typing this! I am an art geek not a computer geek…LOL! However, this might help you. Great to see you on the board! I will be looking for your posts!

I’ve asked hundreds of people: of all your moments in life what memory would you chose, if you could chose just one to live with eternity? The answers are unforgettable and go to the core of the person’s bliss, plus reveal what qualities of being they require in life to feel contentment, beauty, purpose, peace. My ‘eternal memory’ was sunset December 24, my first husband’s birthday and when our son was home from college. He and I across the street from our place in Santa Barbara for a walk on the beach at sunset. A bright star was over Anacapa Island, which looked like Ithaca and everything was a magical golden-pink. I love my son more than anything in the Milky Way and would be happy in eternity in that moment. But the person I would choose for Earth Hour would be his dad who I married at 17. He’s been dead for 20 years and I think of him everyday. He’d appreciate Earth Hour and be full of giggles, thoughtful comments and affectionate fun.

My husband and I always have time in the dark, which is usually a pretty good time, so, I’d have to say my 7 year old granddaughter who lives in Texas with her parents. Not just because I love her more then I can hardly stand, but, because of her wide-eyed wonder and delight in learning about life and the why of things. I can imagine her and I cuddling in blankets on my deck here in the foothills of the Rockies in just candle and starlight, both whispering, giggling, and making wishes on one star after another.

If (and only IF) my sweetie wasn’t available (and we do spend a lot of time in the dark - it would HAVE to be George Clooney. He seems like such fun, a sexy, adorable, full of humor (even laughing at himself frequently) gentleman - that an hour - any time of day with him - would be a total blast!

Sharon….LOVE George Clooney too….have seen all his movies and have to confess that the one watched over again wasn’t one of the high-minded message films, but Intolerable Cruelty w/Catherine Zeta Jones…even typing that makes me laugh. Know women (and men) like that. Delicious, naughty fun. PLUS he has the tremendous sense (and good fortune) to live in Lake Como.

Anybody or Everybody. Alone also sounds good. But of course sharing with the hubby sounds good too. When we bought our first house years ago we had hardly any neighbors as the subdivision was very new. We used to lay out in the bed of the pickup truck, talk and look at the stars. We witnessed a couple of meteor showers, Hale Bopp and random falling stars were fairly common. There were no house lights or street lamps. It was really dark and very awesome. Now I have an entire neighborhood and a street lamp directly across the street. We don’t have the pick up truck anymore but we do have some pretty cool lounge chairs. I can’t wait!

In the dark, on a deserted island, it doesn’t matter where; as long as I’m with Jonny Depp….

It’s a secret. I can’t tell you. I have someone in mind, but if I say it out loud or put it into print, the entire sentient universe would laugh at me.
