Who Would You Love to be in the Dark With for Earth Hour?

Mary Wells

Who would you love to be in the dark with for Earth Hour?

Such a good idea should not go unloved. The entire world is going to celebrate Earth Hour at 8pm on March 29. All the info is at: www.earthhour.org. So much good will happen to our world because we turn off our lights for just one hour. And think of all the other things that will happen. Imagine it. It’s black. There are no lights except star lights. And candlelight. And firelight. Maybe angel-light. Who would you like to share the stars with, to touch, to feel, to abandon yourself to, to remember with, to lie to, to tickle, to giggle with, to make up stories  for, to sing to, to nuzzle, to tell poems to, to wonder about the universe with, to have a new idea with, to plan making things greener with, to smell the grass with, to feel the wonder of it all with, to be deeply moved with, to be happy to be alive with?

GV, Thanks for the memories. Some that I recall were tree camps and underground camps in the woods behind our house. And a blanket over the dining room table made a fantastic secret hiding place. We had a swimming pool and everyday in the summer, the neighborhood children joined us at 1:00. Those were the days. The children nowadays miss so much. (We had two girls and two boys.)

My husband is the best storyteller - true stories - adventure stories. His details are captivating, his voice assuasive and dulcet.

I would like to spend one hour with my very best friend when I was growing up. His name was Todd, and he died when we were 16 years old. I miss him still to this day, (at 52!) and would cherish just one more hour to talk and laugh with him like we use to, and show him pictures of my son who I named after him.

Wrapped in a sleeping bag under the stars with my man. I will probably fall asleep because I feel so completely relaxed and safe with him.

My husband, exploring each other in complete darkness would be very intense, the unknowing of where someone is going to touch you is exciting. Like having fantasy night and being blind folded. VERY EROTIC………………

Myself. I could use the alone time to sit and ponder and sing Judy Garland songs. Bliss.

Since the answer to this question is purely fantasy, I would LOVE to be in the dark for one hour with my fantasy boyfriend, Viggo Mortensen. I absolutely adore him! Hunky and beautiful, sensitive and deep.

James Spader - who should be cloned, he has the ability to make even us ugly women feel he would date them :)

I’m so glad other people mentioned wishing they could go back to spend the time with their children as young ones again! I have been feeling so blue lately about my son being almost a man now. What I wouldn’t give for an hour with him as a 4 year old again!!! That would be my greatest wish.

Jayne….I agree…my son was born when I was 17….we’ve always been close. Boys are soooo adorable, expressive and sweet at 4…can remember very well. His is a man now. He went to grad school in europe and never moved back to the US. I really miss him, am proud of him, and understand now what Bill Crosby meant when he said “A son is a mother’s last true love.” No one is like your son. Here’s two poems I wrote for him (one at 17 and one decades later) that apply to all sons…definitely not a poetess…but think they resonate. If they can’t be four again…maybe we’ll be lucky enough to have grandsons….wouldn’t that be great!!! http://ezinearticles.com/?Poems-For-My-Son&id=792870
