Whoopi Goldberg on Bill O'Reilly (Video)
For the past two nights, Whoopi Goldberg has appeared on Fox News’s 8 PM ratings leader, "The O’Reilly Factor." The conversation between host Bill O’Reilly, the often-combative conservative pundit, and the independent-minded Whoopi made for interesting viewing. Our favorite moments? Whoopi saying to O’Reilly: "Don’t bullshit me, Bill." And Whoopi taking on O’Reilly for calling Helen Thomas a witch.
Parts one (Monday night) and two (Tuesday night), below.

The fact is, O’Reilly constantly interrupted to pull the conversation to a meaningless statement that had no basis in fact, at all. He didn’t define his terms at all, and then made flat-footed statements, and didn’t listen to anything Ms. Whoopi said. 93% of O’Reilley’s viewers probably don’t even know who the venerable Helen Thomas is, so why care what any of these anonymous people say? Certainly, for one thing, the last thing anybody should call O’Reilley is "a journalist." The mystery is why anyone would spend time paying attention to him. The whole concept of being on one side and then "supporting" or "turning against," and "fans," and all that is incredibly destructive to democracy. It is to be about principles and policies, not personalities. And he ceaselessly kept pulling it back to personalities, rather than principles. Like so many of the wingnuts on this site. Constantly caught with their facts down, but ignoring that and attacking, disrupting, and changing the subject because they really have nothing to say. I’m sorry Ms. Whoops had to waste any of her precious life force dealing with this fool.
What I love about Whoopi is that she is consistant - always reasonable, always objective. She has the ability to disagree without taking the diasgreement personally. O’Reilly obviously has respect for her, if not for her opinion.
What I dislike about O’Reilly is his unbearable egocentric involvement with each and every point, "I think I understand the Obama phenomenon better than anyone in this country". What hubris. It’s that part of his character that turns me off. That and his constant interrupting.
Maurine, I agree about O’Reilly. If his ego wasn’t hanging out there so much, he would be a little more palatable, but I think he is hard working and thinks he is doing the right thing. No pun intended. Before the elections, he had a little more of a populist attitude, but now I think the state of the country has really got his goat. He has blamed most of that on Bush and then the Fannie Freddie debacle.
I don’t hear the whole program, but my husband flips between all of them and I am within earshot, so I pick it up here and there. If I know that there is someone on I am interested in, or want to know more about, like Hillary, Obama and a few others, then I will watch. To me, it is all part of this crazy mess.
Whoppi is an intelligent woman with street-smart. She is also a passive force to be reckoned with. I watch her on the view and she is always composed while she let you know what she thinks. She never flinches. It would be nice to hear more from her on this site.
