Yes, yes, yes! But they don’t like me to talk about it. I do one movie and now I can’t get rid of them.

There is the “unseen presence” around us. If you meditate or maintain a sensitive or intuitive nature, you’re probably a believer in the supernatural. Opening my heart and mind to the possibility that there is more than this (life) has enriched me greatly. I am blessed for the experiences. BTW Whoopi, you were great in “Ghosts” one of my top ten favorite movies.

I guess I was more focused on Patrick Swayze (back in the day;) and didn’t pay attention to Ghost as much as watching The Color Purple. Didn’t mean to diss a performance.

Lynn did you cry like me when the coin floated towards Molly? That was one of my favorite scenes. One of the many funny ones was: Sam: Molly, you’re in danger. Oda Mae Brown: You can’t just blurt it out like that! And quit moving around, because you’re starting to make me dizzy. I’ll just tell her in my own way. [pause; then, to Molly] Oda Mae Brown: Molly, you in danger girl.

yes lena I sure did—especially in the end when he is walking into heaven and her is telling her how beautiful it is and how its all about the ”love”etc…..very comforting . And yes whoopi just has me hysterical throughout the whole movie as always no one can make me laugh like her. I really should have said ”color purple” was my all time fav though —I LOVE the spot where she tells everyone she is leaving and tells them how cruel they have been to her—where she talks about being ”I may be stupid-I may be ugly-i may be black-BUT I AM STILL HERE”” MY god how that empowers me everytime I see it. Being a Catholic—you know which other movie I love—sister act—-and I dont know if she is or was catholic but boy did she nail it!

Yep! I have, Yes there is, and been there done that. While on an operating table, I visited with God. I was near death, and experienced some very wonderful, moments - maybe seconds or minutes, it seemed like a good bit of time. Time was unimportant, the experience was important. It is very unfortunate that there are some people who absolutely deny any possibility of near death experiences, spiritual encounters, past lives, and the many fascinating moments on different levels of reality. On this plane or the next there are in fact many differing experiences for each of us. One last thing, some of the most fun moments I experience(d) is while dozing off, or waking up I have heard someone call my name - just as if they were wanting to ask a question, or speak to me. I turned my head to see who it is, and I would say; “What?” There is no one there. It is so clear, and just a normal voice as in conversation with someone. What I now know is someone on the other side, (I call it the other plane) is making contact with me. Oft times it is simply to point something out to me, to get my attention about something which I need to attend to, or let me know they are present with me in that moment. The experience is most often fleeting, and simply matter of fact - nothing sensational. When my mother was still alive we used to have a similar experience - and one of us would telephone the other to find out whatever we needed to relate to the other. My sister and I did the same thing - One time she actually telephoned me and I answered the phone by just asking, “What?” Not hello, not my name or who is this, or any other words. At that time we didn’t have ‘caller i.d.’. Those were the kinds of experiences that I enjoyed the most. Frank, I do not want to discount your beliefs, please don’t discount mine, or others beliefs. (And, no I am not imagining, or hearing voices.)

Jo, I know what you mean about the phone. I still do not have caller ID yet when ever the phone rings 99% of the time I know who the call is for and will tell that person to go answer it. Sometimes I even know who it is that is calling. I do not question this gift. I just see it as part of my everyday life and am thankful for it.

I meant to add: If anyone wishes to experience such moments, I would encourage you to learn about meditation, and deep breathing techniques, for clearing your mind. Each person, in my experience, has their own method for getting into a deep trance like state.

Whoopi, Ghost is one of my favorite movies. It is a classic film. My mother would get these feelings and would act upon them. I never had that sensitivity and sometimes wished I had. But, I also feel be careful what you wish for because knowing me, I would be scared out of my wits to see an actual ghost. I do believe children see them. My grandniece at the age of 3 once though she saw my mother and called out to her. The two were very close from the time my grandniece was born so I believe it.

I’ve always been truly AFRAID of dead people, for as far back as I can remember. I was so afraid at times that I believe I had night terrors, and firmly believe I’m an insomniac because of my fear. You may think it is truly irrational on my part, but what I believe now may make you question my sanity. I saw a science program on PBS about parallel universes. One scientist says universes exist side-by-side, much like slices in a loaf a bread. Now, I believe what we see are flashes of those universes. There are times when the time is right (a perfect storm of events) for these universes to become visible to the naked eye. What I believe we see are people in these universes instead of ghosts. At 58 years old, I’m no longer afraid of dead people (ghosts).

This kind of stupidity explains why she supports Obama. Grow up girl! There are no ghosts only silly people running from their own shadow.

who made you the expert—-I am a medical person and I have seen thousands of people die in my 27 years. It is interesting how different it can be- Some wait for their families to leave. The family will be doing shift marathons sitting at the bed side and when they finally decide to go out for dinner ie…the person dies within 10 minutes. Some are afraid to die alone and verbalize it—they want someone with them— in all my years I can’t count how many times I was that person because the patient literally had no one. Some die in agony screaming in pain Some die very peacefully (pray you are one of those) Some just go to sleep I have had visions myself I won’t get into but I will tell you I have seen patients have visions prior to death I have seen patients sit straight up in the bed with a huge smile on their face and say ”ma” then die it is a beautiful thing to behold. I truly believe after all I have seen personally as well as felt emotionally with my own family losses and scientifically from studies—- I believe there is a connection— an energy— something that binds us all together outside of our ‘shell bodies.’ I think what they say in the end of GHOST the movie is pretty close to the truth IT’S ALL ABOUT LOVEAND YOU TAKE IT WITH YOU………..

Lynn, Thank you so much for your post! It is so true. Years ago, I worked as a nurses aide, now called CNA. I worked in a geriatrics unit, and dealt with the variety of people you write about. One in particular comes to mind. She was always so angry, I imagine the pain she must have been in, or the kind of anger she she was filled with. I participated in some life saving techniques on her, with a Dr., (there were no RN’s available) we did an emergency placement of a tube in her throat, I forgot the technical term now. To enable her to breathe and clear her airways. Just minutes before her death, as I was looking in on her, she had the most angelic look and smile on her face! I knew she finally found peace, and was so grateful to experience that with her. It nearly took my own breath away for that moment.
