Whoopi Weighs in on Sarah Palin and Reader Comments on Her Obama Post!

Whoopi Goldberg

Well, as I’m watching television this morning, it appears that John McCain may pick Gov. Sarah Palin, of Alaska, to appease all of those angry women — the ones who were going to vote for Hillary and then threatened to vote for John McCain — by just picking a woman. It’s expedient, and should make everybody feel better. After all, what do women actually know? They’ll pick any female, as long it’s not a guy. That kind of thinking is so insulting I don’t know what to say.

I’m sure Sarah Palin (we’ll find out more information on her) is a wonderful woman, but if you’re a Democrat why would you go for a Republican female that you don’t know much about just because she’s female? Has John McCain missed the point? Or is that the point? That these angry women are angry because a woman was not picked … not Hillary Clinton … but a woman.

I looked at some of the comments to my Barack Obama post this morning and I thought they were fantastic. There was one lady who was irritated with me, I guess because I called Barack Obama an African American.

Well, normally one would say, "Well, his dad is African," as some of the other folks who were on the site pointed out and, "He is American," so that would make him an African American, in the truest sense of the word. The irritated comment was from Helen King. Well, Helen, he brags about his family but I’m sure he just wanted to make folks who were concerned about whether or not he could deal with white people feel better about the fact that half of his family is white. You know, so he’d be able to talk to white folks without freaking people out.

Helen said, "You never hear him brag about that." Well, in fact, he showed mama’s picture and grandmama’s picture and granddaddy’s picture quite a bit. We see pictures of his black father, but it’s kind of obvious he’s black, so he wants to let everybody know that he also has white in him. I guess in a funny way it means that he’s a well-rounded American. And just for the record, "African American" is cool, and although I do enjoy seeing the word Negro, one doesn’t generally say African Negro. One would just say Negro.

OPPS - meant to say - DON’T register on the thinking of … “… many of these - if not most, register on the thinking of a population that cold fit in any one of our large cities, with plenty of room to spare.”

Senator Boxer has it right, “The vice president is a heartbeat away from becoming president, so to choose someone with not one hour’s worth of experience on national issues is a dangerous choice. If John McCain thought that choosing Sarah Palin would attract Hillary Clinton voters, he is badly mistaken. The only similarity between her and Hillary Clinton is that they are both women. On the issues, they could not be further apart. Sen. McCain had so many other options if he wanted to put a woman on his ticket, such as Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison or Sen. Olympia Snowe -– they would have been an appropriate choice compared to this dangerous choice. In addition, Sarah Palin is under investigation by the Alaska state legislature, which makes this more incomprehensible.”

Sarah: I found your statement “Sarah has 5 children who she has raised on her own…” Her husband wasn’t part of this raising? I’m sure she’s an affable, likable, capable person, but she is not, in many people’s estimation, vice presidential material. We are not “jumping the gun”–––we are going by the facts.

I just finished watching The News Hour and it seems while Palin is a very popular governor, she is not a great administrator. Some of her commissioners have quit. She also has a reputation of not communicating with the state senate—including Republicans and therefore does not have a good working relationship with them. In about 20 minutes Washington Week will start. I love to hear their take. I am sure newspapers around the country are reading every article written in every local Alaskan paper regarding her administration.

They are quitting because she has said NO to the corruption and ongoing investigations and other BS that alaskan politics have become so popular for. And those that have enjoyed the benefits of an unethical career here are running for the hills.

Sarah, That must be why she is being investigated for Troopergate—-a potentially impeachable offense for abuse of power.

Intelligent stuff here. Don`t take the time to find out about the person , just start trashing and keep bigotry and racism alive and well. Life would be boring without having someone else to blame ones own problems on. As far as Obama, let`s be serious. He first opens his convention with a Senator who left the scene of an accident and abandoned a young woman drowning in a car. Next, an ex- president who was getting blow jobs in the White House while on duty who then stared the nation straight in the eye and denied it and finally fessed up after there was no way out. Oh, and by the way, did I mention that he was impeached? Good stuff!! Damn good solid stuff to build the foundation of a new administration. I imagine this post will get reported as abusive and deleted but the sad part is I`m relating true factual issues of our past and present leaders and the people Obama is calling upon to help him become president. Is all of your heads up your asses or something?? get serious!!

Hey, Just Me - Hooray for you! Thank you for voicing exactly what’s been going on in my head. I wonder if the Kopechne family was watching Teddy Kennedy’s hero’s welcome the other night in Denver - made me want to puke. And then Slick Willy - why in hell would I ever believe any endorsement from him? Isn’t he the same guy who looked us all in the eye on TV and said, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman.”? And your post didn’t get deleted, thank God. Obama better be careful of the flea-bitten dogs he lies down with. Thank you - thank you - thank you, Just Me. You’re the best!

Just me, you’re just silly. The neocons are destroying our country, and you’re jumping up and down about nonsense. Do you really believe Chaney doesn’t get blow jobs? Oh, please.

I think this is history in the making, and if anyone knew a little bit about Sarah Palin might not rant and rave so much about a little women from Alaska that only was only a mayor of a small town, she then became our Governor and helped all Alaskans with an energy fund relief. She is a mother a wife and a natural leader. McCain I’m sure took into account all aspects of having Palin as his running mate, but I”m sure not a plooy to gain notoriety for Presidency. She is a fresh face and will bring for good. I cannot wait to see what the future holds with her in the White House!!! Yea Sarah, I’m so proud of you.

She’s an imbecile who believes in teaching creationism in schools, didn’t concern herself with the illegal, immoral Iraq invasion, doesn’t believe in Global Warnming, and up until 18 months ago was mayor of a 8,500 poduck town. We’ll doo all we can to make sure Miss Congenialty gets to stay up there. Hopefully, all the notority and scrutiny will make Troopergate so huge that she’ll be impeached so we don’t have to worry about a yahoo who doesn’t believe in Global warming in charge of Anwar, too. Looking forward to her debates with Biden—since she doesn’t know what her Foreign Policies are—this should be a lot of fun. Welcome to the knife fight, Miss Congeniality! I
