Whoopi Weighs in on Sarah Palin and Reader Comments on Her Obama Post!

Whoopi Goldberg

Well, as I’m watching television this morning, it appears that John McCain may pick Gov. Sarah Palin, of Alaska, to appease all of those angry women — the ones who were going to vote for Hillary and then threatened to vote for John McCain — by just picking a woman. It’s expedient, and should make everybody feel better. After all, what do women actually know? They’ll pick any female, as long it’s not a guy. That kind of thinking is so insulting I don’t know what to say.

I’m sure Sarah Palin (we’ll find out more information on her) is a wonderful woman, but if you’re a Democrat why would you go for a Republican female that you don’t know much about just because she’s female? Has John McCain missed the point? Or is that the point? That these angry women are angry because a woman was not picked … not Hillary Clinton … but a woman.

I looked at some of the comments to my Barack Obama post this morning and I thought they were fantastic. There was one lady who was irritated with me, I guess because I called Barack Obama an African American.

Well, normally one would say, "Well, his dad is African," as some of the other folks who were on the site pointed out and, "He is American," so that would make him an African American, in the truest sense of the word. The irritated comment was from Helen King. Well, Helen, he brags about his family but I’m sure he just wanted to make folks who were concerned about whether or not he could deal with white people feel better about the fact that half of his family is white. You know, so he’d be able to talk to white folks without freaking people out.

Helen said, "You never hear him brag about that." Well, in fact, he showed mama’s picture and grandmama’s picture and granddaddy’s picture quite a bit. We see pictures of his black father, but it’s kind of obvious he’s black, so he wants to let everybody know that he also has white in him. I guess in a funny way it means that he’s a well-rounded American. And just for the record, "African American" is cool, and although I do enjoy seeing the word Negro, one doesn’t generally say African Negro. One would just say Negro.

What’s horrifying is that you vote. Which talk show personality did you get this “Muslim” crap from? Or were you under a rock somewhere when the whole flap arose last spring around his Baptist Church? There is no such person as “Billary” except in the very very small mind of a person who knows nothing at all about apparently anything at all. See, Judy, a fact is a true thing. That means it is real. Okay. Obama and his wife and his children are American Christian Baptists. And that is a fact. “Muslim?” Racist bullshit from a narrow, bigoted mind. Go ahead. Waste your life being a total fool. Why on earth you would want to is beyond me. Ms. Goldberg is one of the brilliant lights on the planet, and if you ever shut up and listened to anything she has to say, you might just learn enough to go get your driver’s license some day. But I doubt it.

Horrifying my ass. What propaganda do you read. The Muslim crap is fact as to how he was raised, what his father was and besides that, his mother was an atheist. That is fact, oh you that have no idea what you are talking about, Mugsby. He was brought up in a Muslim school and he and his family can hide behide the American Christian Baptists all they want. Where do you get your info? As far as Billary, she’s already run the White House once. Or were YOU under a rock then? You can call it racist bullshit all you want. I am no fool, I can guarantee you that. I like Whoopi as a performer, actress, talk show host, but I do not like the way performers and actors and actresses get off by becoming experts on politics. They need to stick to their craft and not spew that of which they know nothing of. If you want to call me a bigot, go right ahead. You are, too. Everybody is and if they think they aren’t, then they are only kidding themselves, you included. Like it or not, if Obama is elected President, I give him 6 months, maybe a few more, before he ends up like MLK. And for your information, I have my driver’s license and have had for 34 years, whatever the hell that has to do with anything. Have you took yours meds for today? I have alot of friends and family in the military and they sure as hell didn’t want to have salute Hillary, let alone someone who has never served or understands it or even acknowledges the troops when he is around them and has a wife that declared she was ashamed either of being an American or her country. And to end this, to show how really stupid he is, if he had took Ciinton on as VP, he probably would have won with no problem.

The FACT is that Obama was NOT raised a Muslim. Not ever. Never. His father, whom he only saw once in his life for a very short time, was a Muslim and later left that faith. His father is dead. He was NOT brought up in a “Muslim School!” He is not now and never has been “hiding behind” the Baptists. Where in the World do YOU get this infamously poisonous and outright lying stuff?

You are right MaryPage, but it is possible that Judy got her misinformation from one of the many emails that have been floating around for the last two years claiming that Senator Obama was a secret muslim. Snopes got so many inquiries about it, they even devoted a website to correcting the misinformation: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp I know I got a few emails over a year ago from some old college classmates. I set them straight. T But really someone so badly informed should probably not vote at all. The sad thing about all of this is that there is really no dishonor in being a Muslim. It is an honorable faith. That some Muslims have done dastardly deeds in the name of their faith is not really different from some Christians doing dastardly things in the name of their faith [I am thinking of some zealous right to lifers who have murdered doctors.] Muhammad Ali is a Muslim and he is the greatest. Faheed Zakaria, a prominent journalist who heads Newsweek international, is a Muslim. The CEO of Ethan Allen is a Muslim. The architect who designed the Sears Tower is a Muslim. Really, people need to learn a little more about the world and stop seeing boogeyman everywhere they see someone a little bit different.

Judy, first of all, there are millions upon millions of upright, honorable, loving and decent Muslims. What you said is flat out race hatred, and it is unacceptable in America. Second, when I said Sen. Obama is a Baptist, you didn’t even blink. Here is the home page for the church he is affiliated with in Chicago. http://www.tucc.org/home.htm In this country, we have Buddhists, Christians, Muslims, Jewish people, agnostics, atheists, Vendantans, Taoists, and many many other faiths. Do you want to be on the side of the lunatic who shot up that church in Tennessee because he’s full of ignorance and hate, or do you want to get a can opener and open your mind to the possibilities of this country? It’s up to you. If you want to live in fear and ignorance, up to you.

You’re a fool. You are a damn fool for saying “I give him 6 months, maybe a few more, before he ends up like MLK.” What does this mean? That he ends up one of the most revered Americans of all time, along with Jefferson and Eleanor Roosevelt, Lincoln and Susan B. Anthony? You are stirring the pot of ignorance, hatred, and fear. Why? Sen. Clinton’s name is not “Billary.” President Clinton’s name is not “Billary.” This is a term used by hateful, subeducated morons who thrive on bottom-crawling, rather than opening up to the possibilities and working toward the light. I don’t get my information from drug-addicted Rush Limbaugh, clearly. There are sources of information all across this vast country, Judy. Those emails you go by are sent around by Karl Rove’s trained protege, Steve Schmidt, who is John McCain’s chief of campaign staff to keep ignorant people in chains. Working, in your case, I would say.

Mugsy Peabody, firing on all cylinders despite pneumonia and asthma. What a woman and what spirit. When I had both situations going on, I would have been hard pressed to tell anyone my name. I need to have the remark regarding giving Obama six months before he winds up like MLK. That sounded rather like a threat. Also, if need be, I require all the sources when someone is claiming to know all the answers.

I left out the word “clarified.” I need to have the remark clarified for me.

M.L., thanks so much for the beautiful compliment. Hope to live up to it. As to the clarification, indeed, yes, I would like it as well. She seems to be saying if you are for fair play, living out the american dream as expressed in the bill of rights and the constitution, equity in pay and opportunity, etc., will get you killed, we should all light a candle for Sen. Obama and his family, because bone-head ignorance and mean-spiritedness are not in short supply, especially when the pot keeps being stirred by Karl Rove and his behind-the-scenes swift-boating and email campaigns preying on people’s ignorance, fear, and lack of hope.

I do not like the way performers and actors and actresses get off by becoming experts on politics. They need to stick to their craft and not spew that of which they know nothing of.” If that is important to you, perhaps you should follow your own advice. Or at the very least give some credible links to your fantasies.

i can’t believe the way you Democratic on this site think that all you say is true and that anyone that disagrees with you is wrong. The is a reason why you are represented by a jackass. Do you really think that all of you are the only ones that speak the truth and have the right?

Judy, LOL! I merely used your own words. I can’t imagine why you be offended. I mean, isn’t that what you said? Jeez you spew all this vile stuff and I just quote you back to you and you go ballistic. Are you just used to people nodding at you? Maybe you need broaden your horizons. because you seem to think you have the total right. But if somebody challenges you, the world just collapsed. Again, let’s see some links for these things you say are absolutely true. If you are so sure you are right, then why not back it up with some facts?

Now, Judy, you cannot be a patriot and defame the humble donkey. The donkey was key to settling and mining the American west. The donkey was the pioneers’ friend. Naturally, the oldest American political party selected the donkey as its symbol. The donkey works hard and does not complain. The Republicans got started decades later and so they picked the elephant. And many of us love the elephant as well. If you want to attack Democratic policy, go ahead and attack the policy. Don’t get all mired up in the symbols, or you just seem like one of those people that never reads a newspaper.

Judy You complain about actors talking about politics, when did they lose their civil right of free speech? Have you decided in your infinite wisdom, that you have a right to take it away from them? They have freedom of speech, just as you or I do. What are you talking about? What if Sen Obama was a Muslim, what does that have to do with anything? We have freedom of religion in the United States of America, or have you forgotten? Or have you decided that you have the right to take that privilege away as well? To say something as “I give him 6 months…” shows me what little trust and pride you have in America. You do not sound like someone from the America that I know. You criticize Mrs. Obama for saying “This is the first time I have been very proud of my country.” Yet you say something that an honest and proud American would find heinous. To even speak that about another human being is ignorant beyond belief. You don’t sound like a true American. You sound bitter and fearful. My son is a soldier, a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, he would have saluted Hillary Clinton if she had made it all the way. He will salute Sen Obama or Sen McCain, whichever one wins the presidency, because his honor would dictate it.
