Whoopi Weighs in on Sarah Palin and Reader Comments on Her Obama Post!

Whoopi Goldberg

Well, as I’m watching television this morning, it appears that John McCain may pick Gov. Sarah Palin, of Alaska, to appease all of those angry women — the ones who were going to vote for Hillary and then threatened to vote for John McCain — by just picking a woman. It’s expedient, and should make everybody feel better. After all, what do women actually know? They’ll pick any female, as long it’s not a guy. That kind of thinking is so insulting I don’t know what to say.

I’m sure Sarah Palin (we’ll find out more information on her) is a wonderful woman, but if you’re a Democrat why would you go for a Republican female that you don’t know much about just because she’s female? Has John McCain missed the point? Or is that the point? That these angry women are angry because a woman was not picked … not Hillary Clinton … but a woman.

I looked at some of the comments to my Barack Obama post this morning and I thought they were fantastic. There was one lady who was irritated with me, I guess because I called Barack Obama an African American.

Well, normally one would say, "Well, his dad is African," as some of the other folks who were on the site pointed out and, "He is American," so that would make him an African American, in the truest sense of the word. The irritated comment was from Helen King. Well, Helen, he brags about his family but I’m sure he just wanted to make folks who were concerned about whether or not he could deal with white people feel better about the fact that half of his family is white. You know, so he’d be able to talk to white folks without freaking people out.

Helen said, "You never hear him brag about that." Well, in fact, he showed mama’s picture and grandmama’s picture and granddaddy’s picture quite a bit. We see pictures of his black father, but it’s kind of obvious he’s black, so he wants to let everybody know that he also has white in him. I guess in a funny way it means that he’s a well-rounded American. And just for the record, "African American" is cool, and although I do enjoy seeing the word Negro, one doesn’t generally say African Negro. One would just say Negro.

I totally posted this in wrong place, so I posting it here in the right place! And here we go! The GOP has passed its platform: “We renew our call for replacing ‘family planning’ programs for teens with increased funding for abstinence education, which teaches abstinence until marriage as the responsible and expected standard of behavior. Abstinence from sexual activity is the only protection that is 100 percent effective against out-of-wedlock pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV/AIDS when transmitted sexually. Who exactly is the party that sticks their governmental noses into Americans personal lives? Expected standard of behavior? They have expected standards of behavior for teenagers, as part of their party platform? Yet they insist that it not be part of a political discussion? Do Republicans actually agree with this, the Government having standards of behavior for their teenagers? They really need to revamp their ‘holier than thou’ morality platform positions or expect them to be a point of lively discussions. On the one hand they are appalled at discussions about an unwed pregnancy and on the other hand, they make it part of their party platform.

Hi Mugsy, Even though she is a gun lover………..I didn’t see anyone holding a gun to her head to force her to put her preg daughter on public display. I wouldn’t have known she was preg by looking………….why did we have to be told? I don’t care if she’s preg or not. But I do care about the sensiblity of an EGO driven mother who uses her children to gain the publicity and then say…………..hands off media. I wonder which of her powerful guns she used to force poor Levi to appear before the world because he got her daughter preg…. Poor Poor guy……….what a mother in law she’ll be.

Preview of when Miss Congeniality debates Biden. Or as I like to think of it Howdy Doody in a knife fight with a Ninja. Here’s a preview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj3iNxZ8Dww Bwahhhhhhhhaaa. Going to be so much fun to watch. That is, if she hasn’t been idicted by then for Troopergate. Loved the acceptance speech today by the way. It isn’t often that a newly selected VP candidate takes the entire time on stage talking about her husband’s snowmobiling. I mean—-because after all—nothing else of import going on. What a dummy.

AND served 14 years as State Senator with high marks of a state much more diverse and MANY times larger than Alaska…..etc etc etc…. How long was Obama a grassroots organizer in Chicago…about 3 years? He was mediocre at best… Seemingly, the only one that was mesmerized by his grass-root efforts was starry eyed Michelle. He joined a very progressive church in terms of outreach programs…he knew being associated with Reverend Wright would give him street credibility which is important to blacks in that area if you are going to run for office. There is no way that I can be convinced that as ardent as Wright is about race issues that Obama never heard his rants. Oprah and Steadman belonged to the same church but as her star begin to rise she split. There are churches on nearly every corner in Chicago and megachurches galore. There was no reason to stay there except that he liked the sermons and the fellowship with other liked minds. Reverend Clay Evans a civil right supporter of Dr MLK stood up for King against the Daly machine…he could have fellowship at Fellowship Baptist Church …This man isn’t progressive…he’s hungry for recognition… Obama hasn’t used his popularity to reach out to local activist and city politicians and the supertindent of schools to find solutions to what ills Chicago. It doesn’t matter the size of the city he comes from when he doesn’t manage the city’s budget or infrastructure. For those who have dranked the kool-aid, the southside of Chicago is not a ghetto of downtrodden Negroes! Hyde Park and Pill Hill are affluent neighborhoods on the southside…there are the poor, blue collar workers and professionals that resides in that part of Chicago, so don’t get it twisted.

What do you have to say that does not consist of your opinions? What about the legislation both Senators have supported? What about the judgment in terms of actual policy decisions? Because those are the only things we have to actually gauge where they stand. You spit out the word ambition, as though it were a bad thing. And yet, McCain himself wrote, that ambition was the only reason, he wanted to be president.
