Very interesting, Whoopi. I like it; I like it. Jeanette Winterson is a favorite of mine - such a lush pen. Pablo Neruda, Milan Kundera, and Flanney O’ Connor diversify the fave author portfolio. “Seven Types of Ambiguity” by Eliot Perlman is my most recent favorite.

J.K. Rowling is in my opinion one of the greatest authors of all time. Taking millions of children (and some adults too ;) on a journey to the far corners of the imagination.

J.D. Robb, Harlan Coben, James Patterson, P.D. James. I see that Tell No One by Harlan Coben was made into a movie and was only played at select theatres around the country. I would have enjoyed seeing the screen adaptation on the big screen here in the midwest. What gives with just showing a movie on the east and west coasts?

Stephen King and J K Rowling—-wow you wonder how there minds come up with the things they write—fascinating! I like Wally Lamb—“shes come undone” was a book I have always enjoyed and I could not get over the fact that it was written by a man! The character has an abortion etc….and the way he explains his emotions…he had to have had a woman write it with him. I LOVE to read a good book—-one that works the neurons out good! SHADOW OF THE WIND—-was written by a spanish author and just translatd into english—I can’t remember his name—but I think it is one of THE best books out—-check it out whoopi!

Ms. Goldberg: Maybe you’ve read some of my posts on here. Some have been unflattering to say the least, although I’ve never lied. I tell lt like it is. Why do I mention this? This morning on your show , you mentioned that you want to hear exactly what your significant other thinks of the clothes you’re wearing. You don’t want to hear bullshit, and appreciate people telling it like it is. After you look in the mirror, and approve of your attire. Would you change if your significant has a different opinion. You see, men want women dressed in attire that attracts their sexual needs, not what you find attractive. I don’t read much, but I’d like to suggest a couple of movies. The Birdman of Alcatraz with Burt Lancaster. The Bright Leaf with Gary Cooper. These are both excellent films.

You see, men want women dressed in attire that attracts their sexual needs, not what you find attractive.” Oh for crap’s sake. Now you’re speaking for ALL MEN? (And if you are, yet another bullet point to add to my list of reasons how and why I’m not heterosexual…) You worded that in such a way that implies that you believe women only exist for the aesthetically-pleasing sexual purposes of men. Not that it would truly affect me at the end of the day, but I would hope that not ALL men are so one-dimensional. Then again, it doesn’t say much of the type of woman who asks her partner what THEY think of the clothing SHE is wearing, as though it would affect her decision to wear it. I can’t imagine being so…incapable of making personal decisions without the input of someone else. (Needy? Dependent? There’s a better word for it, I know.) I can’t seem to fathom both the idea of men caring that much about how their women dress, and a woman caring so much about what someone else thinks of the outfit SHE wants to wear. They’re just CLOTHES. Sex is another issue entirely as it’s typically performed IN THE NUDE.

My ex wife always asked if I liked what she was wearing. 99% of time I did. If I told her I didn’t, she changed. Sex is performed in the nude? I forgot, its been two years for me. All men don’t believe that women exist for sexual purposes only. Going to the beach, then having dinner and drinks is always fun first. Believe me, when I guy is on the beach with a woman, unless the woman is a behemoth, he’s thinking about sex. I’m so bad.

Whoopi, as usual, you’re so brave, so unaffected. Why are people ashamed to admit they love Stephen King? I think the man’s a genius. But being exceedingly unaffected myself (though not particularly brave) I’ll admit I probably wouldn’t be the best judge of true genius.

I never thought of appreciating a creative trailblazer like Stephen King as something to be ashamed of. He always seemed to have a ENORMOUS audience. The guy is practically in a genre unto himself. I’m not an avid reader myself but I can appreciate the talent that goes into engaging people into using their imaginations to their fullest potential.
