Yes, Liz. And given that she would like to expand the powers of the Vice President should she become the next V.P. that tells me that you are right on the money with this prediction. It’s a chilling thought to me. She is a very scary candidate.

Yes, Liz. I agree with part of your prediction. But we differ just a bit on the conclusions. Sarah doesn’t have a shotgun wedding in her future; her daughter does. Sarah had her own a couple of decades ago. And I do hope that she crams on economics, foreign affairs, etc. when she’s back in Wasilla. To learn what she needs to become an effective Governor.

Amy: note the latest news on “approval ratings” from Alaska listed below.
The oil in Alaska has brought, and continues to bring buckets of money to Alaska’s budget, making “balancing” it pretty much a slam dunk. Alaskans get a “rebate” check every year. Additional dollars were suggested to be added this year because of the huge increases in oil prices, and this was in the works, before Palin made any public comment or suggestion. (also see below)

It was Palin, after all, who last month proposed that lawmakers pay out a $1,200 resource rebate as a way for the state to share some of its multibillion-dollar oil revenue surplus with Alaska residents.

The idea for a people’s payment, however, originated in January with Haines Republican Rep. Bill Thomas, a commercial fisherman who suggested a $1,000 rebate, saying he was moved by a legally blind and diabetic friend forced to cut firewood for lack of money to buy heating fuel.

NEW YORK Since she was picked for the Veep spot, the press has often noted that Sarah Palin has “80%” approval ratings in Alaska. Just yesterday, John McCain told the Des Moines Register editorial board that she is “the most popular governor in the United States.” But that may be outdated.

McClatchy reports today that her approval rating in her home state has tumbled to 68% — still high but surely not the country’s best. The poll by a local firm that works for both parties was taken Sept. 20-22. McClatchy writes: “Palin’s popularity has swooned as new information about the local abuse-of-power investigation known as Troopergate has trickled out, and as national and local media pick over her track record as a governor and small-town mayor.
“Palin still has overwhelming support among Alaska Republicans. But many Democrats and independents, who gave her positive marks just a month ago, have changed their views….

Get real. Sarah Palin. I really don’t know how to respond to those in the USA who think that she is VP or Presidential material. It’s so much a joke to me and many others that I know well. She is so not “now” prepared. But you know it does not matter cause she is “white”. What would be the outcry and condemation if a Black, male or female had the educational historical background she has, minimal, the fact that she is under SERIOUS investigation in her State as Govenor for ethics, etc. African Americans have to go thru so much crap and live up to such a HIGH BAR that “whites” do not in similar situations. IE climb every mountain, forge every sea or whatever, whatever, whatever, be “bright” , “articulate” blah blah blah, dont make waves, be attractive that means not look too “Black’. I’m sick at heart America. I really thought we had moved well past a lot of this but well—— not. Those who say Obama is not qualified for so many reasons blah, blah on the other hand accept that Palin is well the second coming and qualified even though they don’t believe it. She cant answer questions so she recites her handlers talking points if a “Black manor woman” did this. HELLO. What would you be chatting about. What a joke. So she’s attractive, and can talk, so she is a mother so, so, so, so. It is clear that many in this country are living in the past, that is slavery for Blacks, latinos, etc. and that we dont matter. Palin is not “Joe Six Pack”. Her recent taxes show otherwise, ie a family income of “up to 2+ million” according to the Washington Post. This is a bunch of crock. What is going on here is the ugly word “race” and any one of you on this site that thinks otherwise is well under the spell of, “golly gee” or “ya betcha”, carefully placed winking at the audience or camera, “can I call you “Joe” (after that Palin never called him Joe”) for me are code words for racial discrimination. It’s what I think sorry to offend those of you on this site who are racist in sheeps clothings. Sicking.

This “joe six packs” thing for Blacks is code for discrimination against Blacks. I’m talking “Jim Crow”. When Paling talks about the “average American” she’s talking about “whites” — period. She makes me sick and any one who support her makes me sick.

Know you that I am not going to sit at the back of the bus. That crap is over. Vote McCain/Palin in Nov and the revolution is on. Because Blacks are not going backwards.

Sarah Palin is unprepared and entirely unfit to be VP. She has no credibility whatsoever and the mere thought that she could be an eyelash away from the presidency is more than scary. It’s unacceptable. McCain’s judgement and opportunism has been tragic.

Well, Liz, I suspect that your prediction rate stats are well above 50%, but in this case I am hoping you’re off the mark. For the good of the country, I’m banking on Sarah Palin returning to Alaska to be tested as a governor. My impression is that she is very bright, and, yes, a quick study on a most superficial level, but that she lacks depth, any understanding of international or national politics and empathy. Short of Dick Cheney’s becoming President, I cannot think of a more dangerous and dismal future for America than one with Palin at the helm. Today she is in my state, California, spreading venom about Barack Obama rather than talking about any substantial campaign strategy. That is her M.O. and it comes off as a lust for power at any price.
