Will Tina Fey Play Sarah Palin on 'SNL' Season Premiere?

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

Rumor has it comedian Tina Fey will play Republican-vice-presidential-hopeful Sarah Palin in this weekend’s season premiere of "Saturday Night Live" — the show she left two years ago.

"There are discussions," "SNL" boss Lorne Michaels said yesterday in response to questions about Fey’s returning to the show for just one night to play Palin. "They are ongoing."

Fey, 38, has not yet agreed to play the Alaskan governor on "SNL," the sketch comedy. A spokesman for "Saturday Night Live" said no decision has been made, reports Broadcasting & Cable.

The season premiere of "SNL" airs Saturday on NBC. "Saturday Night Live" will be hosted by Olympic gold medalist and NBC ratings-getter Michael Phelps.

Yes, due to Ike. I didn’t get to watch the show for same reason. I am one of the lucky ones, I have power but all network stations in our area are showing nothing but storm news 24/7 right now.

I don’t usually watch SNL, but I’ve had it set on my TIVO for a week, now (just in case)

My friends and I have been HOPING Tina Fey would come back to SNL since Palin was announced! If not, Michales should get Gena Gershon: her Palin impersonation is pretty good!

I am pretty sure that is NOT a fake Life magazine cover. I may even still have it around here somewhere. It was a while back, during an election year, and it was an article on why it was important to vote. I remember wondering about it, but you see, McCain hosted SNL at one point, and Tina Fey was on that show. And both were doing work to get people to vote. I think it is from 2004. It would be interesting for SNL to re-run the McCain show. Personally I think Tina Fey could be a better Vice President that Sarah Palin. But I am a real fan.

Did nobody see it? Why isn’t there a thread about it? It was brilliant and hilarious.

Sherrie, yes, I saw it and loved it. Tina had Palin’s accent right on. I can’t believe how much they look alike. Of course, Amy is always great doing Hillary. Hilarious indeed. I just hope Ms. Palin fades into obscurity and we won’t be seeing too much about her when the elections are over. Thanks.

Dabney, I think this was one of those times when art not only imitated life, it expanded on it in a very important way. Now if only there was some chance that rep voters would “get it”. But what am I thinking, if they “got it” SNL wouldn’t have to be the enlightening vehicle for them.
