How does one go about finding how to write in Hillary if things dont go right?

Each state has different rules and some do not even recognize write in votes in that if you write in Hillary..in some states it would automatically go to nominee of party, anyway. Board of Elections of ea state should be called. There is a good chance you are wasting your vote or voting Obama anyway. Check this out.

in michigan, write-in candidates must qualify by a deadline a couple of weeks before the election, but it is considered campaigning for an election worker to inform a voter of the names of any qualified candidates (and campaigning is illegal within 100 feet of the polls). michigan got into trouble by allowing candidates to remove their names from the ballot. the whole primary system is broken and needs fixing before the 2012 election.

Saw George Will on Charlie Rose. Will is a very smart guy, and I often agree with him. Mostly his point of view remains Libertarian/Conservative. I am a Democrat so there are big differences as to how we see the function of government, etc. I do however enjoy listening to him as he’s an original.

One thing to do, Mary S., is to contact the democratic national committee and tell them you will not support a ticket that does not include Sen. Clinton. Do this in the next day or so. Best, MP

Mugsy, Are you saying that you would not support the Democratic ticket, if it does not include Senator Clinton? Why?

There are important issues facing the United States today: Our illegal and unjust war on Iraq; our failing health care system; our failing school system; violence in our streets and in our homes; our failing economy; our failing infrastructure (remember the bridges in the midwest?); our damaged and bleeding returning soldiers, many of whom will end up sleeping in doorways along side our Vietnam Era Veterans; our lack of community, as we strangers live next door to each other in our failing cities, without even knowing each other’s names; our total loss of control of the media to the corporate/industrial complex and their shallow ‘twist and shout’ journalism; the rampant and blatant anti-woman movement of the so-called religious right; population explosion; the hate campaign brewing against gays and lesbians; continuing racism, and especially ignoring Hispanic and Asian people in the discussion; lack of real, valuable, and meaningful work for many of our citizens; the obscene prison system; a government who thinks they are “above the law; the pollution and fragility of the food supply; the refusal of the government to address our long-term energy needs; the total lack of any real programs to address global environmental degradation; the corporate interests attempting to lock up our water sources and supply; drug, alcohol, cigarette, gambling, sex and other addictions (anything to get us off the planet for a few years, eh?); lack of true scientific research (most science is now in the hands of corporations, whose sole goal is to exploit new science to get money from us); the baby boomers facing retirement age at the same time our 401ks tank in the subprime melt-down because of the ignorance, arrogance and greed of the unregulated banking industry (thanks, republicans); the assault on reason of the Rove-era anti-intellectual propagandists, which leaves us with a generation of young people who are waiting for “voice-activation” on a blackberry so they don’t have to text (hello? It’s a telephone, for god’s sake); and what is apparently a total lack of courtesy and common sense on the part of nearly everyone. The rest of the world looks at us, their so-called “leaders” and say, “too bad. It was a noble experiment.” And why would they admire or respect us? We’ve taken more resources, and a better opportunity to build a great society than any people ever in the history of the world, and we’ve turned it into the red carpet and people magazine. But that’s all right. Let’s just keep talking about the Clintons as though they are target practice for the slings and arrows of our frustrations. So helpful. So helpful. Deni G - 6/7/2008 4:16 PM I believe the only hope the extreme right wing has is to keep us arguing about nothing, name calling and closing our eyes to the state of our country. I am quite sure that is what is being attempted here. We don’t have to fall for it. We can keep our eyes and our fingers focused on our responsibilities as human beings. Because no matter who these people are who are bashing The Clintons, they are not people who are engaged in the mighty job of fixing this mess we are in. They are people who are engaged in deepening wounds and creating divisions. It’s like screaming at your neighbor over the fence, while your house is burning down. Has anybody filled up their gas tank lately?

It is about time a woman was elected President of the US. But, just like men, we have to run an electable candidate who know how to be a woman in politics. My favorite was always Barbara Jordan. I wish she had lived. She knew just how to deal—I remember a short film clip of her addressing some committee or other—“if you men don’t vote for this, I’m telling your wives….”

Ginny, I agree with you. I can close my eyes and see her addressing the Democratic convention. She could be so serious and funny at the the same time. She was a smart political animal the we are all poorer for her loss.Bev.

Brings tears to my eyes to even think of the greats we had….like Barbara Jordan. Here she is with that incomparable voice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBqDprWP8p8 What a woman. She could have set things straight to day—and she would have told it like it was with no mincing of words.

Yes she was and she is certainly sorely missed by this guy.

Do you have to watch it on Fox? It just seems like the worst choice for getting actual news. I am going to see if she will stream it live on her website. Maybe CSPAN will carry her remarks. And Mary Sloper, most states have rules about whether you can write someone in or if that vote will even be counted. Usually if there is no “official” write-in candidate registered with the state, any write-in vote is just ignored.
