Mr.Green, Having been so disappointed (that’s putting it mildly) myself in the last seven years—I have to tell you that neither Hillary Clinton, and it seems not many of her supporters, understand that she lost this nomination when she voted for the Iraq war resolution. She underestimated the anger….and because she poop-pooped the NetRoots she was blind about that too. People say ‘why aren’t they marching in the street’….it’s because they’ve found an enormous place to march and link up and organize. If Hillary Clinton would have been a Profile in Courage in Feb 2003….she’d have been the nominee. That is the consequence of not having an unswerving moral center. This was the SINGLE most important issue in our time and she was wrong, and then made it worse by saber rattling at Iran. I have no doubt that she will have an important role and I hope that she learns a lesson. There should be absolutely NO equivocating in a leader about phony wars. THAT is what distinguishes a politician and a true statesman. She can and hopefully will redeem that horrendous vote. As Ted Kennedy said his no vote was the proudest vote he ever cast in the Senate….the rest who did not should be doing everything in their power to redeem themselves, and the US for their failure of foresight and courage. She heard Robert Byrd’s floor speech before the vote just like the rest of us. And that was just ONE thing. But it was enough for any true leader to stand together with the other few brave Senators and vote no. And this isn’t even taking into consideration her representing Monsanto etc. Hillary needs to get back into the democratic party. I am sorry you are disappointed. She is a relentlessly hard worker with a solid base…so hopefully she’ll do some thinking and understand that this is a new generation, a new world, and a new kind of power….the old ways are over.

French Heart, At least on a personal level I agree with your point about HRC and her vote for the Iraq War. This was a turning point for me. I will own that perhaps I put more responsibility on her shoulders re:that decision because she is female. It is well documented that a female strength is the ability to abstract (forward think) better than most males. It gave her an edge in thinking this war through. It’s a function of our brain wiring. If she had stepped out in courage and cast her vote against that war I would put aside other concerns I have with her and I would have backed her “big.” She cemented my take on her in a failure to adequately offer an “oops…blew that one,” retrospectively. Instead she did that deplorable weasling “blah, blah, blah” that was (if you listened closely) a refusal to self evaluate and cop to her error. At least that’s how I heard it. It was in this way she took yet another step away from “the sisterhood” and moved into alignment with the ways of the brotherhood. The whole idea of having a woman in office is to try an approach that doesn’t mimic the boys in the club that have created some pretty awful messes. I have been given strong feedback that in order for a woman to even bring herself as far as Hillary has, this is a necessary part of the dance. I disagree. If that’s naive on my part, I apologize. I’d need some convincing though. To me there is no point having a different gender in office that hedges on accountability. Been there, done that with our current President. I so hoped she would be different and would have copped to her “stuff” as I don’t see that as a weakness but rather a strength. I am going to get dark glasses on now as I anticipate a potential blast via my monitor returning on what I’ve said by some on this site. :)

Don’t you fret Sister T S and Sister French Heart, I’ve got your back! Everything that you both said was the TRUTH. Not OUR truth, but THE truth. I’m sorry for HRC as well, there were major things inherently wrong from the beginning. She thought she could overcome/revise/restructure the image. It didn’t work and she should take this experience like a woman. Her supporters need time to heal. Unity for the Democratic Party is the next important step, we have an election to win in November.

Beautifully stated, sweet sister. You are one I would feel honored (and safe!) with in the knowing that you have my back. :)

Robert- Here’s John McCain’s Tuesday night speech in front of dozens of supporters. And back in New Orleans. Too bad when everyone was drowning he was busy in Arizona cutting birthday cake. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7RuX4pQPLY&eurl=http://talkingpointsmemo…

Robert, if you really mean that then I hope are happy with what you’ll end up with. It rings pretty true, if you don’t vote, then don’t complain. Even worse when you vote for the other party you are relinquishing all the principles you stood for as a Democrat. I repeat, if you don’t vote then don’t complain.

Hey, guys, if you like lots of words in sentences and stuff, and like, you know, writers who actually think about what they’re saying for 13 seconds before they file it, maybe you would enjoy the London Times online? http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/global/

Yes, I was also weirded out by that… let’s all watch Fox news thing. Meanwhile I cannot watch Mr. Arrogant on TV swaggering all over the stage so thoroughly enjoying this awful moment. My heart is broken. I feel exactly like I did when Dubya gave his acceptance speech after he took the thing away from Gore. Same voter shenanigans. Same Florida dustup. What a total drag. Well, I am now officially a Republican. Hey… I guess I will tune in to Fox News. They’re my new people!
