Renata- I appreciate what you say and how you say. You are one of the smartest and most articulate on this site. Admire your passion and also your perspective as a New Yorker. None of us know what is going to happen but I have faith that both Senators, having battled hard, will ultimately do the right thing for the party. And by the way in case you didn’t see McCain’s Nightmare youtube. It just went up 2 weeks ago and has nearly 2M direct views…but of course gets linked to lots of sites…like Huffington with 15M unique views a month, etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEtZlR3zp4c

Jose, I think you are jumping to conclusions based on facts not in evidence. Many of us here, myself included, were involved in voting for the first time when there was a battle over seating black delegates at the 1964 democratic convention. We were in the streets FOR YEARS working to get voter registration for all americans, equal employment, equal housing, and many many other achievements. It is a landmark that a biracial american and a woman are serious contenders for the highest elected office in the land. It is not racist to remark on the achievement of a generation to change those things.

Mugsy - yes we were out there for YEARS and thank goodness we were. I feel that this Democratic campaign has been a validation of those efforts.

Reality check! There is great joy in the equality our country has reached by having these 2 ‘firsts’ in our elections. That people applaud this, does not mean they are voting because of sex or race. It is acknowledging our growth as a nation. But you already know that.

i am very proud of obama! He never stooped to the level Hillary did from the get go. No more talk about not having a nominee. We do have the nominee for our party and its time Hillary concedes, yet we know she’s got to have the last word so most likely she will wait until tomorrow to do it. Now Obama needs to pick a VP which won’t be Hillary because that would be defeating this whole purpose of all of us voting for Obama. We certainly don’t need someone like her at his side! Besides, I don’t trust her! Go Obama!

HRC (and Bill, of course) had a room full of college kids in a BUNKER - instead of any number of worthy locations for their NYC “celebration” tonight. Their cell phones and no TV monitors were allowed — so they WOULDN’T KNOW Barack had won. It was very STRANGE to hold the event FOUR LEVELS down — below a basement. The Clintons will need to put us ALL in a bunker to continue to make the ridiculous case HE has been ungracious. That is a self-serving and manipulative message. I don’t need to say it is — DIVISIVE. We are talking about the Clintons, after all.

Perhaps his supporters might try that tact.

immodesta~ I should have been clearer. I was not referring to Senator Obama. He is and has been very gracious. He has secured the nomination and I am one happy woman. I was referring to some of his ‘supposed’ supporters. it is my opinion, that if they think as highly of Obama, as they claim they do, they would heed his request for an end to vitriol. Obama sees this as detrimental to his path to the White House. He has been quite brilliant in his assessment of what was necessary to win the Democratic Nomination. To me, continuing the vitriol against Senator Clinton, is working in tangent with those who want McCain elected. When anger and righteous indignation serves the opposition, it is time to turn the page.

Donna - Couldn’t agree with you more. As usual, the focus is on what HRC’s supporters will/won’t do. Barack and Michelle are focused on what HIS supporters will/won’t do — and will not dishonor our 17 months of hard work winning this thing from the Clinton Machine — by putting HRC on the ticket. Barack isn’t one to be held hostage. Neither is Michelle. A cursory review of even tonight’s questions and postings indicate the inability of HRC supporters to accept and honor the winner — or his supporters — w/ANY respect whatsoever. Barack is focused — and HE knows where he wants to go. Alternative views will be RESPECTED. There will be no tirades, finger-wagging, race-baiting or gender divisiveness in his Cabinet. There will be no Clinton DRAMAS (even tonight?) distracting the Cabinet from focusing on work that needs to get done. Finally, HOW one communicates will be pivotal to how he MANAGES — as it has been during the Campaign. He will MANAGE with RESPECT. Mockery doesn’t equal respect. Entitlement is a monarchy - not the American Presidency. You will note on this site HRC supporters attack the points of view of others - personally. Obama supporters make their case w/out attacking anyone — although, you will find HRC supporters (like the Clintons themselves) like to pretend they have been attacked to justify their attacks. The games will be over soon — in the Nomination process — and, in NEW YORK. One can be sad, express sadness w/dignity and respect for the winner. Marginalizin the winner and his supporters — against a monster machine and two-term former President and all that means — is costing HRC even more. She still doesn’t GET it.
