Would Palin Do 'SNL' Again? You Betcha!

Sarah Palin had a great time on "Saturday Night Live" over the weekend, and “you betcha” she’d do it again.
"I would do that again in a heartbeat," the Alaska governor told WWOR-TV in New York. "It was the most welcoming and friendly environment that you could imagine. Everyone was so nice, and you know, you have to have a sense of humor through all of this. You have to have some levity through this. Otherwise, it would really, I think, grind on you and wear you out."
New York comedian Sara Benincasa, who has been mocking Palin in YouTube videos since she signed onto the McCain campaign, weighed in on Palin’s review of herself.
"Palin shows she can be goofy and fun. Clearly we know she’s goofy. This will enable her to show that she has a good sense of humor about something other than moose and hockey," Benincasa told ABCNews.com before Saturday’s "SNL" show. "Inevitably Palin will think she did an awesome job. She lives in a world where everything Sarah does rocks."
The New York Times says Palin’s appearance was another sign that the GOP isn’t trying to frame her as a knowledgeable, thoughtful vice president, but are showcasing her as a star. The Times thinks that perhaps Palin has a Tina Fey problem – that the comedienne’s impersonation of Palin has proved so dead-on — and popular — that it has further undermined the governor’s plausibility. So McCain advisers tried to disarm Fey.
The “SNL” skits gave Palin the last word in every joke. In the middle of a skit where Fey impersonated the governor during a press conference, Palin appeared and took her place at the lectern while Fey sheepishly slunk away.
And, say what you will about Sarah Palin, but her much-anticipated performance on "SNL" — complete with a face-off between the GOP vice-presidential nominee and her comedic doppelgänger, Tina Fey — gave the comedy show its best overnight ratings in more than 14 years.
Politico.com reports that based on overnight results from the 56 biggest markets, the show received a 10.7 rating, which means more than 14 million viewers tuned in to see Palin’s visit.
