wOw Brings You the First Cast Shot of 'Nine'

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

"Nine," the movie based on the Tony Award-winning play of the same name, tells the story of Guido Contini, played by Daniel Day-Lewis, the world-famous film director who struggles to prepare his newest film in spite of a personal and professional crisis. His biggest challenge? Balancing the numerous women in his life, including his wife, mistress, muse, costume designer, a fashion journalist, a whore from his childhood and … his mother.  "Nine" is directed by Academy Award-nominated director Rob Marshall, whose greats include such films as "Memoirs of a Geisha" and "Chicago." The breathtaking cast of stars includes Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Dame Judi Dench, Sophia Loren, Penelope Cruz, Kate Hudson and Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson.

"Nine" is scheduled for release in December of 2009. To hold you over until then, we’ve got the first cast photo to share.

Now there are some talented, intelligent and gorgeous women. I read that Judi Dench loves her new hair color for the pic. Can’t wait to see this.

I’m with Kryssi! Joygasmic! (Kryssi, please post the kind of vitamins you take…I want some!). I’m a devoted DJD fan - I don’t care if she’s reading a page from the dictionary, I’ll pay to listen. Add the rest of the cast and I’m practically hyperventilating. What an assemblage of talent! Can’t wait to see the movie.

Ah yes, Be Italian…..saw the play in 1984 in San Francisco, the night before Democratic convention started and I left for Europe.

The author of this post neglects to mention that the musical “9” is based on Fellini’s “8 1/2,” featuring the same main character - an Italian man whose life centers on, and is haunted by, an ensemble of women.

I read one of the “last glance” interviews on the last page of Vanity Fair a couple of years ago….it was an interview with Keira Knightly. The question: “Which of your co-stars would it surprise you the least to find had killed someone in a bar?” Keira’s answer: “Judi Dench. ” Thought that was hilarious. With the exception of Kidman…who is pretty, but a total bore…I can’t wait to see this film - Fergie, Dench and Sophia Loren?? How fantastic!
