What the heck? Byrd and Kennedy have both been taken out of the luncheon with medical issues. No, not Byrd!

I didn’t hear about Byrd, I’ve only heard about Kennedy.

NBC has just corrected that. Not Byrd. Sheesh. Don’t report until verified guys.

Byrd was taken, but because he was so distraught over Kennedy. ABC just reported he was taken as well, but is concious - just worried about his health because he is so upset.

Byrd is a very close friend of Teddy’s and those present said the seizure was ‘violent and visibly painful for Senator Kennedy” and frightening. Undoubtedly with subsequent news, it could have been set off with something as minor as medications imbalance or fatigue/excitement. Am so glad Teddy and Senator Byrd saw this day. The two Senate Lions, the longest serving, and who most of us love and admire so much. Am so glad to hear they will both be OK. I know the Obamas were very troubled with the news.

I noticed the right side of his face…or at least his right eye…was sort of drooping before the lunch. He seemed to be sort of willing himself to hang in there.

I was referring to Kennedy in that post.

Alias, ok they just mentioned Byrd, Kennedy had a seizure, a long one apparently, they say it was still ongoing as paramedics took him out of the building. How tragic, he too has anxiously been waiting for this day to happen, perhaps the excitment of it all was just too much. God bless him, I hope he will be alright.

I was watching Ted on camera, standing up, shaking hands and noticed his face was suddenly getting redder and redder. I thought then, someone help him to a seat, get him water and calm the situation for a moment. What an unfortunate thing.

I just commented on another thread how you can see the pain in Obama’s face and hear it in his voice as he spoke about Ted. You can tell he was praying for him too. I pray this day does not end on a tragic note and this seizure will pass.

I do believe an indiviual can inspire without becoming a deity to those he/she inspires. When I was 16, John F. Kennedy breakfasted in my hometown of Fort Worth before moving on to the motorcade in Dallas, and then he was gone. The sadness was pervasive, deeply felt around the world, by you as well I’m confident. Remembering that time and how that absolute deflation of spirit endured, I embrace today as another opportunity to be uplifted and motivated, proud that we will once again see, “America as a friend of each nation and every man, woman and child who seeks peace.” My sense is that President Obama has expectations and a course of accountability for all of us. Today there is that pervasive feeling that “hope and virtue can survive the winter of our hardship”. And that was when I was 16 and today I am 61. Patience. Sadly, Senator Kennedy’s been carried out; our prayers to him and his family. Senator Kennedy has seen the dream that his family pursued so diligently throughout their lives. With God’s grace, he’ll see more days in the sunshine. Peace and grace

I feel America has finally gotten it right. Obama has captured us and we in turn have to give it our all. He reflects the makeup of our country and he is in the right place at the right time in our history. The x President really did a hatchet job on our standing in the world. We must get it back soon. As of now we don’t have many friends in Europe Asia and Africa we must make amends asap. If I drank I would make a toast TO LIFE Good luck Mr. President

it was egypt and european powers who negotiated the cease fire in gaza. perhaps we can hope that all nations assume their places among the powers of the earth.

I was disappointed with the PBS coverage. They seemed overly fond of their own voices. As much as I liked their coverage of the conventions, this time it felt like they just dialed it in. They treated it more like a news report than a national event. ABC seems to have the most interesting coverage. Ted Kennedy appears to have revived, and I hope he recovers from this episode, but I am afraid his clock is running out.
