I have yet to stop crying. It has been an emotional day. I looked all day at a bottle of champagne. I was going to “mimosa” myself to sleep but then I chickened out. I’ll do it tomorrow when my first born turns 51! Yikes. Joan, did not get to do it after all. I was thinking while I watched this young man on the podium that one day my grandsons will see an African/ American lady President. Obama started it , the gates are wide open. How marvelous! I will join the rest of you in here who have been such a help to me since we started this “wowing”, especially Joan who is the joy I need the hear every day. I have been a good student of Diana, Phyllis, Dona, James, I am sure I miss more.Thank you all for your support when I was a whining trips. How great to know our Frank has found love. The very best to you and Deb, the very best. You both deserve to be happy!!!!

I just saw this old BBC Clip of Dr. Martin Luther King predicting that there would be an African American President within 40 years. Sorry, I tried to post it but he content wouldn’t work. It seems to work about every other time.

Joy to all Wow posters on this glorious day. You have beautifully expressed so much of what I have been feeling. (However, instead of a slipper, I tossed the shrub a one finger salute as his helicopter disappeared into history.) I too am proud of America, proud that we elected this great man based on the content of his character. Humbly grateful that we all are blessed by this new beginning. Hope and +~~

Countrywoman, I couldn’t stop laughing for some dumb reason when GWB boarded the helicopter….then the phone rang and it was my son calling from Europe. He said he felt so incredibly relieved. Me too!! We are blessed, so true!!

Hi Carmel Thinking about you today, about the past and the future, and about how occasions can intersect. I am wishing you peace as we all move forward with hope. The year of “firsts” is always most difficult after such a loss….when this special birthday comes at you next year, time will have advanced the healing process, and there will be new memories woven into the significance of January 20th. So Yes! Let us laugh. The shrub is pruned. The ground has shifted.

I’m STILL watching the parade on CNN. Michelle looks exhausted, but still very happy.

Hi, and Cheers! to all my fellow Wowers, Over these last few days, my emotions have just run the gamut. I am just done in. I laughed and cried and sang and danced while watching the We Are One concert on Sunday. I was in tears again this morning, while watching the festivities leading up to the swearing in. And Barack Obama’s inaugural address just knocked me out. I just love that man. I am just filled with pride today, and just thinking back over the events of this weekend, I am close to tears again. So now I’m home from the office, baking my Meditteranean chicken. My vegetables are roasted. My couscous is done. My whole house smells of garlic. At 5:00 I will finally crack open the bottle of champagne that has been chilling in my fridge. DeBurca said it best, back on page one of this thread, but I too, have enjoyed sharing with all of you during these past few months. And most of you have given me so much more than I imagine I ever contributed. But I hope to be around more in the near future. Tomorrow it is back to life as usual, back to business as usual, - except for one thing - that we will have Barack Obama in the White House, watching our backs. How good does that feel? Cheers to you all! Sincerely meant,

Just weighing in here to say hi to all of our wonderful wowOwowers on this, the most patriotic day I can recall in many a long time…maybe July 4, 1976, the bicentennial? Thanks for sharing all of your thoughts with us on this board.

One last thing, as I watch the recap on the ABC World News Tonight - Aretha Franklin is THE QUEEN. Not only was her voice gorgeous, but that hat KILLED. What a woman!!
