joni, first of all thank you for this site. i met my sweetie here. secondly, i agree with you about hoping that this tone of working on american problems as americans can continue. i can remember a time when we all pulled together, and we can do it again.

After long years of disintegration and dark secrets we embark on a new day. This morning shutters open and the countryside becomes breathable again with glistening skies, sun-buttered and blue. We have long awaited this momentous day when we put down the old book and start turning the pages of the new. An American historian, C. Woodward’s words seem fitting here: …between man’s limitations and his aspirations, between his dreams of what ought to be and the limits of what, in the light of what has been, can be.

I was just able to text my husband who is standing at 9th and Pennsylvania Avenue (working) and he said its F—ng Feezing but the excitement in the air is unbelievable. He wont see the motorcade until 2 and has been standing there since 3:15am… I am here at work and our Manager allowed us to bring tv’s and radios so we all have our tv’s tuned into the same channel to watch this historic event. There are only 46 of us in our little office but you can feel the excitement… I truly hope that this excitement will continue once these Inuguration Days are over and reality sets in that the mess we are in won’t change over night and that Obama and his team have an up hill battle which if we stand behind him I feel we could actually prevail. Having Faith always! GOD Bless our Law Enforcement working in DC and GOD Bless AMERICA!

Please convey my thanks to your husband, C Hardy, for his service today (and every day). I’m looking at Pennsylvania Ave. on TV right now. I think I see him!!! Lots of hims!

%$#@* !@&*^!!
Ditto that, Maurine. It is terrifically exciting. The pnone’s ringing, the TV’s been on since 6AM, and I’ve been on my laptop…I stayed home because today is also my brother’s b-day and made the right choice for me. I really admire the job CNN has done…they are terrific. And both of the ‘girls’ are adorable…but the older Obama daughter is really something, a natural star.

Rainbow Power
Tomorrow morning a great statesman will wake up and look into the mirror in the his White House bathroom. The mirror will reflect a much different person than yesterday. The new reflection may say, “what did I get myself into”. But even if he does say something to that effect, he will not back down. He is world class material. He says change will come and as an American I will believe him. We need to believe. Our soon-to-be President is careful and focused. But when he plays the games of the world, he will play to win. And I don’t think he likes to lose. That is good for America. Congratulations America. Thank you to the wow friends who spent many hours informing me and sometimes misinforming me, but at least giving me a chance to find out on my own. Thank you to Joni for putting up with us during the embattled times and threads. I join all of you in the excitement. A time to live and for us to be a part of history. A man of all times is about to become a living legend. And we have the right to be beside him.

Well said, Rainbow. Hear! Hear! Can you imagine him tomorrow morning sitting down in the Oval Office, gazing into his in basket for the first time? 1- Fix economy. 2- Get America back to work. 3- Re-build international relationships in Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, India, Israel, Palestine, Russia, Europe, ah, heck, the whole world! 4- Renew world’s faith in democracy. 5- Close Guantanamo. 6-Renew science funding. 7- Bring home troops. 8- Open doors to Cuba. 9- Keep and eye on Putin. 10-Get puppy, And that’s just Day One.

I’d also say that we need to open a dialogue with Syria and especially Iran if there is to be peace in the Middle East. Without them and Russia too there will be no peace.

I heard that they “worked something out” regarding the use of a Blackberry. Whatever that means!
