Palin lied about her travel to foreign countries. She obtained a US Passport for the first time in 2007. And she told the press and the American people that she’s been to three countries: Kuwait, Germany and Ireland. But Ireland was a a short refueling stopover, which means her extensive Irish diplomacy might amount to buying a beer mug in the Shannon airport. Why does this matter? Because McCain is 72, has had 4 bouts of cancer, just picked Lyin’ Palin to replace him as president if he dies or becomes incapacitated. And she lied to beef up non-existent international expertise. She’s a liar. We know that very well in Alaska where ever ACR Alaska Conservative Republicans have a No More PA{L}IN Campaign….complete with basball caps, coffee mugs, bumber stickers saying NO MORE PAIN with the ‘L” lifted above so her name reads “PAIN”.

The NY Times says it’s “baffled” by McCain’s choice of the conservative Palin, as was I, initially. But the big-money donations are with the conservatives, primarily. But I shudder at the thought of President Palin, should McCain win and then pass away in office. She’s simply not qualified to be a vice president, because she’s never cast a single vote on a foreign-affairs matter.

Could everyone, please take a deep breath and stop gnashing their teeth for just a few hours? Listen to what she says and how she says it before the liberated women of America tear her to shreds. I, for one, choose to read and listen to as many news sources as possible and THEN make up my own mind. How about that for today’s suggestion?

Well, let’s discuss those news sources and stories here. I’m happy to oblige.

Did anyone see The View this morning? I NEVER thought I would agree with Elizabeth Hassel-whateverhernameis. I thought the sexism coming off that panel and out of the mouths of so-called liberals was appalling. Click. Off it went.

That’s so true sister! How dare they attack Senator McCain for his choice of a ultra-conservative novice as his VP. How sexist of them.

Elizabeth Bennett
You know I did see it, and I thought it was an animated discussion, but I would not characterize it as sexist. Those women on the View were speaking of their own experience. They knew that having an infant in the house contributes to sleep deprivation and the sleep deprivation lowers the I.Q. And I don’t think Sarah Palin has much of a cushion. You can’t just say that people you differ with are being sexist and let that be the end of the discussion. Elizabeth Hasselbeck had some good points but she could not really counter the fact that when you do too many things, some things get done sloppily. Would we not have the same discussion of the vice president had a job on the side? Motherhood takes time and is work as well as love, even with help. Frankly I don’t think we would be having this discussion if her youngest kid was just a little older, say preschool age. Does anyone think it is interesting that McCain picked someone from another state that started with A? Sometimes I wonder if he had a dartboard and a deadline.

It was so 1950s, Elizabeth Bennett. Didn’t you think? Joy was terrible and it even came out of Barbara’s mouth… someone who certainly never denied her glowing career. The whole through-line was, a mother with children can’t have a high-powered career. Gimme a break! Palin’s husband is already a very involved father. Do we think she won’t have help at the White House? Is a woman still expected to stay home, remain barefoot and pregnant and cook meals and do laundry? It was spew. I am disgusted with the media and the Democratic party. I thought the whole discussion very backward and sexist and frankly a manipulative attempt to oppose a candidate they don’t like. Barbara never even attempted to hide her disdain. On that note - if I was writing the SNL sketch this week I’d have Tina Fey as Palin juggling babies (literally) while vetoing legislation and taking meetings with world leaders, then pausing to hastily duck under her desk and deliver twins before sitting down for a coffee clatch with Condoleeza, Hillary, Pelosi and Snow. Might as well shine a light on the whole package.

Sorry, this was posted elsewhere, I was temporarily blinded. It was not sexist, Whoopi made an excellent point that even if you drew pictures would be lost on Liz. Whoopi was defending choice for women, not all women have the same options, some don’t have the money or support system in place. You can use the same condemnation many have used to against those who dare to question Sara Palin. I’ll say again if we would spend as much fighting hunger as we did in this political campaign there’d be a lot less children going to bed hungry tonight.

Sarah Palin is a LIAR and LIED on her first day running as VP/ In her very first speech, Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin has proven herself to be a liar. Governor Palin’s statement today: “…I championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. In fact, I told Congress — I told Congress, ‘Thanks, but no thanks,’ on that bridge to nowhere. If our state wanted a bridge, I said we’d build it ourselves.” (Source.) Yet, she specifically told the Anchorage Daily News on October 22, 2006 that: 5. Would you continue state funding for the proposed Knik Arm and Gravina Island bridges? Yes. I would like to see Alaska’s infrastructure projects built sooner rather than later. The window is now—while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist.(Source) It wasn’t until the bridge became a national joke that she finally decided to oppose it. Something like this is pretty par for the course in politics, but what bothers me most about it is the fact that (a) this is one of the issues that Governor Palin and her supporters have pointed to in order to show her “credentials”, and (b) she lied in her very first speech as the Republican VP nominee. She couldn’t at least wait until her second day on the job?

From ABC News: ‘October Surprise’ Over Palin Investigation? “Likely Damaging” Report on Governor Scheduled for Release Days Before November Election By BRIAN ROSS and LEN TEPPER Sept. 2, 2008— Is the McCain campaign afraid of an ‘October surprise’ involving vice-presidential pick Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska? The Alaska state senator running an investigation of Gov. Palin says the McCain campaign is using stall tactics to prevent him from releasing his final report by Oct. 31, four days before the November election.

From the Washington Post: Aides Say Team Interviewed Palin Late in the Process By Dan Balz Washington Post Staff Writer Wednesday, September 3, 2008; A01 ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 2 — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was not subjected to a lengthy in-person background interview with the head of Sen. John McCain’s vice presidential vetting team until last Wednesday in Arizona, the day before McCain asked her to be his running mate, and she did not disclose the fact that her 17-year-old daughter was pregnant until that meeting, two knowledgeable McCain officials acknowledged Tuesday.
