IF you can find Clinton’s speech that he gave at least three years ago on his world tour (sounds like a rock star) you would find it interesting. He was talking to the very rich sheiks all over the world about using their money buy up equatorial land to build a grid at and around the entire equator so that when the oil ran out they would have a continued source of wealth. I thought that was interesting.

Yes, Amelie, that advice from Dubya continues to haunt me. He said that immediately after 9/11, told people to get back on the planes, take vacations, go shopping, continue their lives as though nothing has happened……..otherwise “The terrorists have won.” Since then I’ve had a free floating anxiety that always brings me back to our leader telling us to disengage from the enormous problems ahead for our country. Well, the terrorists have won; we just didn’t know they were operating from the White House. Over the years I’ve often thought it pretentious to call the POTUS the leader of the free world, but now, clearly, our next president will have to look globally in an effort to rebuild our country internally and guide other nations’ citizens out of the ditch we’ve all fallen into. Maybe we didn’t cause it, but Bush/Cheney’s fingerprints are all over the falling markets. John F. Kennedy’s greatest strength was as a true beacon to draw out strength and dignity, respect and honor among people around the world. Barack Obama has the passion, confidence and respect for the human condition to do the same. Time for pragmatism to replace pretension. Brownie has left the building. Peace and grace

Just a beautiful post Beth. Bravo! I agree with your JFK comments and thoughts on the WH. I am not sure how America earned the title of Leader of the Free World. But if its out of fear because they were the only ones insane enough to drop nu-kl-ar weapons on other human beings, then the title is dubious at best. Personally, I hope Obama can change that. The WH could use a little elegance in rough times. And the American people need little hope. A reason to get out of bed in the morning. Because without hope all there is is time. Luv to you all in these turbulent times.

Yes yes. In these turbulent time we need to revert to kindergarten rules. Get one big long string that joins us all at the heart and hold on to it like kids on one giant field trip. Who knows where we’re going?

What if……. What if McCain knows he is not going to win this election? What if the mcCain smear tactic started over the weekend was NOT intended to pull votes from Obama? What if the whole purpose for Palin, is to divide and separate the unity of the Democrat party? What if Palin is purposely bringing up a veiled ‘race card’, so that when Obama gets elected, things will be even more difficult for him? What if the REAL reason the McCain Campaign spends very little time on the issues, is because his effort is not focused on winning, so why bother?

Well, Patty, that sounds like a recipe for a civil war………talk about oxymoron. Peace and grace

Living in VT I get Canadian news and they are having an election in which both parties would never think of their country running a deficit budget. As they said there seems to be no small deficit.
