She lost me when she ended “Boycott Israel” on a thread about suicide rates during the financial crisis. I now skip all her posts.

I am getting to the point where I have to drag mnyself to this site—act of masochism…all the same stuff over and over and over.

Star, I enjoy your comments and hate it that you have to drag yourself to this site. Masochism is treatable with a mental health expert. Why don’t you look into it. I hate to think you are abused.

Don’t be mean, Dab-s-do. Star, you are not alone. A few other McCain supporters are here. :)

Alias, my comment was kinda tongue in cheek. I like Star’s personality and her comments. Just trying to lighten the mood a little bit. Guess it didn’t sound the way I meant it. Sorry, Star.

The comment was to My Alias, as in Yup, there is another McCain supporter here skipping through the pages looking for a friendly avatar. McCain/Palin 2008 for America’s sake

Marj, I’m not pro-McCain, but I’m friendly. And I get accused by the far-left liberals on this site if I occasionally say something nice about McCain or Palin, and I get slammed by the Republicans if I say something harsh. You can’t win being a moderate Democrat, and probably not if you’re a moderate Republican.

Star, I would miss your comments. We could always turn to AZ politics. I still have to vote for a Scottsdale mayor run-off and a half a dozen council members along with 8 zillion judges. I mailed my early ballot in today. It took me three nights (2 hours each) to read through all the yea’s and nay’s. So hang out with us…it will all be over soon. CA

No, Star, it taint Spam, it’s Eliza. You remember Eliza? The one I had the run-in with––the one who referred to you in a most unseemly way? Jesus rides on her shoulder and speaks to her on occasion and then she relates all that to us. I think she means well. I just don’t think she is well.

Star, I have gotten so tired of her and her spamming, I sent a note to the wow staff to take a closer look at her posts and pull them. Clearly, she’s still getting through, so I will just ignore them until she gets my ire up again.

What Is National Health Insurance (NHI)? To begin with, it is NOT “Socialized Medicine”, far from it in fact. Also, it does not mean that our medical system will be taken over by the government and run like the post office as many of our opposition friends would mistakenly have you believe. Basically, House Resolution (H.R.) 676, the “New Expanded Medicare” bill now in sub-committee in the House of Representatives simply creates a new and far more functional “single payer” method of paying for medical services while leaving the medical system itself completely alone and intact. This will eliminate the hundreds of complicated and redundant payment plans currently imposed on the system by private “for profit” health insurance companies and save literally BILLIONS of dollars every year by eliminating such wasteful duplication. This will allow your doctors offices and hospitals to function much more efficiently and serve your needs much more effectively as well. Just imagine what a huge benefit this will be! Taxes: We all know that nothing of any real value is ever free, but if you think of the taxes that will be required to support national health insurance as simply a lower cost alternative to the staggering private health insurance premiums that most of us already have to pay but which will be totally eliminated under the new system, then it becomes immediately clear that this could be a really good deal after all! “Health care is a defining right in a democratic society.” Congressman Dennis Kucinich Check out some of the tremendous benefits that NHI will bring and see what you think: Every resident of the US will be covered from birth to death. No more pre-existing conditions to be excluded from coverage. No more expensive deductibles or co-pays. All prescription medications will be covered. All dental and eye care will be included. Mental health and substance abuse care will be fully covered.(1) Long term and nursing home services will be included. You will always choose your own doctors and hospitals. Costs of coverage will be assessed on a sliding scale basis. Tremendously simplified system of medical administration Total portability – your coverage not tied to any job or location. Existing Medicare benefits for those over 65 will remain the same or be vastly improved in many cases. (1)The United States has the unhappy distinction of having the largest inmate to total population ratio of any modern country in the world. It is estimated that a full 53% of that inmate population is being confined due to non-violent drug and addiction related issues. The combined costs to society of maintaining such a huge prison population is staggering in so many ways and accordingly, the cost savings to society of this one enormous benefit of national health insurance alone, that all drug and addiction treatment will be covered, is simply beyond calculation. “This is an issue that has no political boundaries, it has moral boundaries.” Elizabeth Edwards Congressional testimony May 8th, 2008 The real irony is that this new system will be a lot less expensive and provide much better services than the largely dysfunctional system currently in place and still leave us with the best health care system in the entire world, only with the New Medicare… it will be even better! Don’t be put off by all of the misleading and often inaccurate rhetoric that you so often hear about changing our system. For example uninformed critics will ask “Do you really want your medical decisions made by some government bureaucrat in Washington DC ?” Well, the truth is that with NHI, just about every medical decision will be made privately by you and your doctor. But ironically, under the current system, many medical decisions about what’s best for you are now being made by some corporate bureaucrat working for a private insurance company whose main concern is making larger profits by denying your claims. How exactly does that work out to be better for you?? “Of all forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane.” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Change is indeed often a very scary thing to most people, but when the need is so great and the proposed changes are so much better than the status quo, maybe changing to a NHI system in the USA is something that we can all think about supporting, whether you are a moderate, liberal or conservative, after giving it a lot of careful study and thought. Please call your congressperson and let them know what you think. They really need to hear from you on this issue. _____________________________________________________________________________ What is… The Citizens Alliance for National Health Insurance HR676.org,Inc. We are a not for profit group of concerned citizens working hard to spread the message about the tremendous health care benefits that all Americans will enjoy when we change to a NHI system. Here’s the point. If you go up to a hundred people on the street and ask them if they know what H.R.676 is all about, how many of them do you think will know the answer? You say none? Well that’s probably a pretty good guess. Simply stated, our goal is to change all that by means of an on-going national multi-media (mostly radio and TV) advertising campaign. In short, we intend to make H.R. 676 a household word in every state, county, parish and district in this great country of ours confident in the fact that once the American people become aware of this bill and the tremendous benefits that it offers, a groundswell of popular support will rise up to demand its passage. Because of the influence of the very wealthy and powerful private health insurance industry, our political representatives will NEVER pass true health insurance reform without overwhelming pressure from the American people to do so. Our purpose therefore is to help generate that pressure. The fact that most Americans are totally unaware of the existence of H.R. 676 underscores the tremendous need for a massive and ongoing nationwide multi-media advertising campaign to promote it more aggressively and encourage citizens to put pressure on their representatives in Congress to finally pass this bill. Our goal therefore, is to raise money to pay for that advertising, and other forms of various educational outreaches as well. Accordingly private donations are gratefully accepted. People often ask, “I am only one person, what can I possibly do to make a difference?” If you are one of those people, then here is your answer… Membership in HR676.org, Inc. is voluntarily assessed at $.99 cents per month per person and accepted in an annual donation of $10.98 (one month Free). Larger donations are, of course, gratefully accepted as well and will help to increase our momentum and effectiveness that much more, but all gifts of every size are deeply appreciated. Consider this: We do not compete with all of the other groups working forNational Health Insurance They all provide invaluable sources of information and support. We just want to focus on implementing a solid plan of action to actually help make it a reality by funding a powerful and ongoing national advertising campaign to spread the word from coast to coast about the tremendous benefits that this program will provide for the American people. But it all starts with you, so please join today! Please note: Companies that offer health insurance coverage as a benefit for their employees will themselves benefit greatly from the significantly lower costs of that same coverage under the New Medicare. Accordingly, commercial sponsorships of HR676.org, Inc. are greatly encouraged for the mutual benefit of all concerned. Please call 800-680-9310 for further information. If not us, who? If not now, when?

July 17th, 2007 I thought that many of you would find these comments that I recently found in an email from Michael Moore poignant and interesting: “THAT’S the only thing we should be talking about. How profit and greed are killing our fellow Americans. How profit and private insurance have to be removed from our health care system. CNN should join me in asking why our 9/11 rescue workers aren’t receiving medical care. Somebody should send a crew to Canada to find out why they live longer than we do, and why no Canadian has ever gone bankrupt because of medical bills. And all of the media should start saying how much it costs to go to a doctor in these other top industrialized countries: Nothing. Zip. It’s FREE. Don’t patronize Americans by saying, “Well, it’s not free — they pay for it with taxes!” Yes, we know that. Just like we know that we drive down a city street for FREE — even though we paid for that street with our taxes. The street is FREE, the book at the library is FREE, if your house catches on fire, the fire department will come and put it out for FREE, and if someone snatches your purse, the police officer will chase down the culprit and bring your purse back to you — AND HE WON’T CHARGE YOU A DIME FROM THAT PURSE! These are all free services, collectively socialized and paid for with our tax dollars. To argue that health care — a life and death issue for many — should not be considered in the same league is ludicrous and archaic. And trust me, once you add up what you pay for out-of-pocket in premiums, deductibles, co-pays, overpriced medicines, and treatments that aren’t covered (not to mention all the other things we pay for like college education, day care and other services that many countries provide for at little or no cost), we, as Americans, are paying far more than the Canadians or Brits or French are paying in taxes. We just don’t call these things taxes, but that’s exactly what they are.” Editors comment: Let me just point out that as many of you may have already noticed, there is a slight difference in our views with regards to the tax v. premium issue. Michael declares that the new taxes required to maintain a new government run national health insurance program are NOT additional costs to the taxpayers but instead simply replace all of those costs everybody in the system already pay such as monthly premiums, co-pays, prescription costs and so forth. On this we are in total agreement. Our position at HR676.org is simply that we ought to call these very same taxes “Premiums” instead simply to draw reference to the fact that these are indeed the same costs that millions are already used to paying and thus avoid any misunderstandings on this point right from the start. The reason that we feel that this semantical distinction is an important one is because the opponents of national health insurance who must rely on distorting the facts and misleading the public to get their point across will make the issue of any “new” taxes associated with national health insurance a major one in their attacks and conveniently neglect to remind the public that these taxes are in lieu of the premiums and co-pays that they are currently paying and purposely leave the misleading impression that these are instead new and additional taxes which they are NOT. We feel that calling the required assesment premiums instead of taxes from the start will significantly disarm their ability to mislead the public on this issue and allow the transition to national health insurance to psychologically seem like less of a leap and much more of a natural progression in that premiums are already a natural part of any health insurance program. So if you believe in this cause and the mission of our organization as laid out on our web site, please link back to www.HR676.org and JOIN TDAY if you haven’t already done so. Your membership is so important to us! The cost to be a part of this momentous project is simply .99 cents a month which is assessed in the form of a one time $10.98 annual donation. Our goal is to sign-up one million members by national Election Day - November 4, 2008. Together, with a budget of one million dollars a month, we CAN make a difference. Go to www.HR676.org and see how. Did you ever think that you could accomplish so much for only .99 cents a month?! Thanks and Best Regards, Larry Pius, Director HR676.org, Inc. PS.
