wowOwow Welcomes All Women, 'Good Day New York'-ers! (Video)

Our fabulous four founders told all this morning on a guest appearance on Fox’s "Good Day New York." In case you missed it, or watched it, loved it and visited us because we piqued your interest, Joni Evans, Liz Smith, Lesley Stahl and Mary Wells spoke about their smart website, wowOwow.com.
The women explained that wowOwow, a website run by an all-star roster of female movers and shakers, including Whoopi Goldberg, Marlo Thomas and Lily Tomlin, appeals to all women.
"From Candice Bergen live blogging at the Oscars to brilliant women writers" offering words of wisdom, Lesley was full of compliments when speaking about the variety of topics offered on wowOwow. Lesley — who looked stunning in red lipstick — also revealed that she’s working on regular wOw interviews … You’ll have to visit wowOwow.com again to see who’s the next big name to be drilled by the veteran "60 Minutes" reporter.
wOw’s CEO Joni Evans was her clever self — even in the wee hours of the morning — as she explained how wOw began and her upcoming plans to revitalize the bleeding book publishing world.
Mary, the Grand Dame of Advertising, explained wOw’s unique edge in the competition.
And — even before most of us had our morning lattes — darling Liz wasted no time sharing gossip about the best actress Oscar-winner Kate Winslet.

And I you, my friend, for all the qualities I most admire in this reality: integrity, intelligence, tolerance and humor.
Peace and grace
Frannie E —- I, like you, have been on this site for almost a year. When I first arrived, I have to say, I was totally turned off because everyone posting at that time were very anti-Republican - anti McCain - anti-conservative. It was during the primaries and most of the "ladies of this web site" were at each other’s throat regarding Hillary and Barak Obama. I could not believe the very un-complimentary remarks directed at Hillary by some. After the primaries, it became just anti anyone who had a differing opinion as to their thoughts on Sarah Palin, John McCain,Cindy McCain, Liz Peek, Fox News, Rush Rimbaugh, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter — in other words anyone Republican or Conservative. They also went after the Independents — some stated that Independents were idiots because "they just couldn’t make up their minds".
The poster, you mentioned, with the various names, called anyone who defended any of the above, the following names……..Trailer Trash, GOP Airheads, dumber than rocks, scary nutcakes, blind, un-informed idiots, ignorant idiots, nazis, right wing nut jobs, knuckle draggers, rednecks, religious nutcakes, illiterate dropouts, icky hicks, vulgar, ignorant halfwits, thin skinned, lacking language skills, un-american, bible totin’ gun toters. She threatened one Independent with a law suit.
In other words, as you so eloquently said, questioned these posters on their ideology, mind and spirit. Many of the posters, Republicans, Independents and Conservatives left because it was repulsive to them. Some have returned now that they see there are more of their "like minded thinkers" posting. All of a sudden the numbers were more even than before. Granted, I agree with you, there are some who do get aggessive in their posts. However, there are two sides to all political discussions. Name calling begets more name calling and off it goes!
It helps to add humor whenever possible. However, there are times when even a try at humor is criticized. There are times when it appears that every woman on this site is in a PMS pattern.
I keep seeing some say, "who are these people". Well, by golly, they are people with opposing views — it almost sounds like they think they own this site and are saying to new posters, "We own this site, who invited you?" I’m sure the founders of this site just love that remark, especially since they keep inviting more ladies to this site. And, now, they appeared on the Fox News Channel (heaven forbid) so, be prepared, for more of the "dreaded" Republicans, Independents and Conservatives to come on board.
Frannie, I, like you, fear that the divide will remain.
Well stated, Lady Gator and Frannie! It is comforting to know that the arrival of the new conservatives was "business as usual" for the liberals. Because I am curious, I went back and read many of the old posts and I was shocked at what I read. So, this has been going on for a long time!!! And, we weren’t even here then!
It’s great that new republican women have been invited to this site. Looks like wow knows what is needed here!
deber b — There are many liberals who have posted on this site that I admire. There are now only a few remaining. I referenced the one above because, by far, she was the worst. There are still a couple of posters I prefer to ignore. Some of them probably feel the same about me. But, I agree with Frannie — always read the post — take a few minutes to let it sink in and ask yourself if you really want to respond!
How simple life would be if everyone agreed on everything. Also how boring! Sorta peps things up when you put the mustard on the hot dog!
Lady Gator
Just reread some of this thread and just wanted to say I appreciate you.
Lady Gator
I remember all of those names that were being thrown around on every other post. Gosh, she had a long repertoire. I had to stop reading them and just scroll on over them. The divide does seem to get wider and wider and that is too bad. I guess "if we can keep our heads when all else around are losing theirs….." we might be able to get back to more reasonable and intelligent posting on those hot button threads.
Lady: …the divide will remain.
It probably will. But, for what it’s worth, I think we’ve seen the nastiest it can become. After you’ve been called an idiot for the hundreth time, the word loses its impact. The ladies of WoW are wise to try to recruit an infusion of new blood. We need some moderation — moderate Democrats — moderate Republicans. All would be quite welcomed by me.
Frannie, I have to take issue with you on one remark —
"The conservatives used to mostly play fair, and after Palin got dubbed with so many unkind epithets, they got tired of it and now that there are a few more, they hang together in arguments, just like the liberals did with them. They used to be attacked from all sides by the liberals, now they are using the same tactics."
—I don’t think you could possibly say that the Left type posters are "jumped" quite like we were—honestly. I can still remember having 5 or more or them hanging off my arms as I tried to swim to the surface. For them—not so much.
Eleanor,
Yes, I would have to agree that there are more liberals on the site than conservatives, and the conservatives were getting a pouncing for a long time, and yes, you used to have them chasing you, and letting you know just what they thought about your posts. They didn’t spare name calling either. You hung in there pretty good, and you had a lot of courage.
Attacks of name calling, hurtful insinuations, putdowns of someone’s intelligence, and personal comments about anyone’s race, religion or individualized beliefs, demeans both parties in the conversation, and not much new is brought to a thread. So what difference does it make if there were more liberals doing it to conservatives, it is still not a method that promotes intelligent discourse, it is still unkind no matter who is doing it. So now it is the repubs that can let them have it? What is there to be gained by that? I don’t get it. You gotta help me out here Eleanor. I certainly don’t promote sitting around and getting the other cheek slapped, but I think the Golden Rule is golden for a reason. Do unto others as you would have others do unto yourself, and then I guess, try to keep up. Help me out here and let me know how it can be done better, because maybe it can’t.
Some posters have gotten my goat and I didn’t manage it well, but we live and learn.
Frannie, My issue was with the tactics, not necessarily the remarks. I don’t think you see a bunch of republicans deliberately attacking a liberal. Generally, it is usually in defense of an insult from a liberal and mostly the individual defends themselves, they don’t "call in the troops" for an "insult-fest" like the liberal gang does or at least used to. That was my point.
Hey, I really have no problem with what most people say especially if it is arguing positions—which are clearly opposite in some cases—that seems perfectly fine and acceptable to me—it’s to be expected—liberals and conservatives don’t think alike. The name-calling though probably unproductive, will happen. It seems now most anything even remotely offensive is removed by the site, so now noone really has anything to complain about. I think quite honestly Suzanne, Mugsy and some of the others don’t want conservatives/republicans on this site at all—regardless of the level of civility.
