It is true: the next two elections are vitally important, because you’re voting not just for the next president, but for the sway of power in the U.S. Supreme Court for, potentially, decades to come. And I feel the Supreme Court will be wielding much, much more influence on the direction of this country in the years to come. Whether it’s abortion, the state/regional battle pending over diversion of Great Lakes water via pipeline to the increasingly parched Southwest states, and all the economic fights that will emerge between the needs of the increasingly populated states down South and the long-term economic crises of the Midwest manufacturing/automotive/steel states that are losing jobs and money at an astonishing rate.

The Q remains how do we feel about Gay marriage.
I am 43 years old. I grew up in a bigoted home. My family did everything they could to convince me that one race was better than another and that gay and lesbians were wrong and going to hell. I knew in my heart that this is was wrong and it seemed to a bigger sin to be a hate monger. And it is!
Gay and Lesbian rights should no longer be an issue in our courts. I do not look at my sisters and brothers that happen to be gay as a separate group of individuals. We should be able to marry who we please without the interference of government.
Gay and Lesbian rights are most important on account they/we/I are just as much of a human being than the next guy. I am here to tell you that every man and woman deserves the same rights under this flag we fly. And under Old Glory stands one and two every kind.
I personally can’t wait until the dead weight of the right wing moral majority with guns in one hand the bible in the other GETS OFF MY BACK!

Sultan Jahan (1858-1930)
ruled Bhopal (India)from 1901-26
When Sarkar Amman, also known as Shah Jahan, took over the states administration, the finances had been dissipated, to the extent that the state was heavily in debt and only 40,000 rupees were left in the treasury. Sultan Jahan resolved to put matters right and began the uphill task of rehabilitation and revival. For over a year Sultan Jahan built up her own team of upright and conscientious officials who helped her put the ship of state back on an even keel.
Sultan Jahan was a forceful ruler and great reformer, like her mother and grandmother. She further advanced the emancipation of women and established a modern municipality in 1903 and reformed the administration of state.
she reformed:
taxation
the army
police
the judiciary and jails
expanded agriculture
constructed extensive irrigation & public works
introduced free compulsory primary education
established an Executive and Legislative Council
established an appointed state council and legislative assembly,
instigated elections for municipalities
originated widespread inoculation and vaccination programs
improved sanitation, hygiene and the water supply

I think what I miss the most are the high quality news casts that we used to get. The ones without the "spin". We tuned in every single day to the morning news, and again at 6:00 PM and could count on hearing a straight forward report of what happened. Now, it seems the news is mostly entertainment type chatting or a very biased opinion of what they think of "the news". I miss the clear information of those old days and almost never tune in any more. Even the Weather Channel which I love for its factual information is being contaminated by "entertainment"..
Love Masterpiece Theater!!!!

I’d get home from school in the 70’s, fix myself a snack, turn on the television and watch The 4:30 Movie. I think The 4:30 Movie was local to NYC. Loved it.
I also miss Julia Child and The Galloping Gourmet. They were like an eccentric aunt and uncle that would visit for a while to keep me out of mischief and make me laugh while filling me with a love for good food, fun and a desire to learn to cook.
