wOw's Views on the News: Is It Time for Clinton or Obama to Throw In the Towel?

By staying in the race, are the Democratic candidates inadvertently sabotaging their party’s chances of winning the election? This weekend, Howard Dean called on Clinton or Obama to drop out of the race for the candidacy by June. "Either of these candidates, if it’s time for them to go, they’ll know it and they will go," Dean said, according to the Associated Press. But will they? Should they? And if so, should they wait until the Puerto Rico primary or should the move be made now?

Michael, I’m not even going to dignify your comment about Kerry with an answer.

Hey Michael - is name calling necessary? What is the point. It gets you no where and it is such old news. Time to make the future come true. The past is gone, can’t bring it back. I think both candidates are exceptionally smart, but there can only be one.

I agree. Hillary should not give up. Would people be asking that question if she were a male candidate? Joan Ganz Cooney: if you are fed up with this campaign, then maybe stop watching the news???

Yes Merrie M - they would be asking that if she were a man. The machine wants to get rolling towards the White House

>>Senator Clinton is showing her mettle in staying in. Why should she leave?<< I couldn’t agree more. I don’t want her to quit. I want her to be president and Obama to be vice-president. Together I think they can start to right all the wrongs caused by Bush. But I just can’t see Obama getting away from his ego to be second. I think with his enormously charismatic speaking style, he can bring back the leaders that Bush made into our enemies. He’d be a perfect vice-president.

What kind of logic is that? Clinton shouldn’t drop out but Obama should? He’s a spoiler, but she isn’t? He’s as much a valid candidate as she is.

No. What I SAID was, this is what I think and you think what YOU think and we can’t settle this amongst ourselves (and believe me we’ve all worked REALLY hard at it over these past few weeks, so….let’s finish the game the way it’s played. Actually, it used to be that the conventions were where the candidates were selected. So let’s play it out.

Actually, it used to be that the conventions were where the candidates were selected. And should be again—this nonsense about super delegates is ridiculous.

I agree, Frank and boy am I glad Howard Dean didn’t win when he ran for Prezzi. I supported Howard — vit money, too, but I’m pretty disgusted with the Dems in general. Stupid Idea — the super delegate. I know some of them and they ain’t all super. Guess I’ll crawl back into my Independent shell for awhile.

Michael, what do you think is the main problem in this democratic race, the candidates or the way they are elected? Electoral college vs. Popular vote. Because this is a mess. Sometimes it seems like a civil war when Barack/Hillary questions are brought up.
