wOw's Views on the News: Is It Time for Clinton or Obama to Throw In the Towel?

By staying in the race, are the Democratic candidates inadvertently sabotaging their party’s chances of winning the election? This weekend, Howard Dean called on Clinton or Obama to drop out of the race for the candidacy by June. "Either of these candidates, if it’s time for them to go, they’ll know it and they will go," Dean said, according to the Associated Press. But will they? Should they? And if so, should they wait until the Puerto Rico primary or should the move be made now?

So, Carole. You’re saying, the important thing is to blame the correct party for our troubles? I’d rather elect someone who can guide the solution-making process with a deep, ethical understanding of America’s Constitution.

I have no idea if this was addressed to me since there are so many other Carols and I don’t use the “e”. But I never said what you implied.

Carol, Obama is a professional politician. He has run for office 6 times in the past - he knows how to run. I don’t personally feel that he is of a higher consciousness - if he were maybe he would be doing something else. I do believe he stands for change. But remember, he is running for the highest office in our country, and will be one of the most powerful men in world negotiations. He knows what he is running for. I just wish he had more experience. It is a lot different trying to get stuff passed through all the shenanigans in congress - that is what happened to Carter. If we don’t get rid of the lobbyists it will be business as usual. He will have a tough go of it to try to change the things that I see people want changed. I like Hillary, but I don’t want Bill. It would be impossible for him to keep out of it. He is like the old fire horse hearing the fire bell. It goes off and he starts stamping and neighing.

Frannie, are you married? Ever been? Would you let your husband do what you fear Bill will do if you were the first female president? I’ve asked that question of a few of my women friends at my chruch and I always get the same chuckle and smile, and unhesitating response — NO WAY! Here’s my take on Bill — fundamentally he’s a decent man who knows that his flaws led him to betray his wife and his presidency. His second term was stolen from him for the most part. He was not and never will be considered a great president, but like Jimmy Carter, and Barak Obama, I believe he has a great heart. It will break his heart far more that Hillary’s should she lose, because, I believe, he truly loves her. I say this as a man who had a 35 year troubled marriage to a very successful politician from a very political family here in Hawaii. So —- I advise, not to worry. He will be content to be an elder statesman and a Jimmy Carter kind of “former president.” And anyway, Hill can take care of Bill. And if she need help, she’ll call in the big gun (Chelsey!) my churchwoman who have voiced the same concern as you

My final word on the matter. Where are the two Suzannes who write so well? Suzanne D and Suzanne C, if I remember correctly. Ladies, I hope you continue to participate in the WOW discussions. Your comments are missed.

I don’t think so, Ms. Dee. I think they’re doing other things, would be my guess.

dear dee, I’m thinking of fading away and coming back reincarnated and transformed. My evil twin could continue to haunt these hallowed halls to cover up my new identity and awesome avatar? What do you say? do you think I could pull it off?

Turn it off. The TV is selling and selling the drama and it can become toxic. The smart candidate will raise above it. Let a convention be a convention for once. So many are yelling “end it, end it, end it”. It started WAY to early. Move the New Hampshire primary to July of 2012 and make all the others follow. Any candidate that starts before June 1 is forever disqualified! Obama is a spoiler? I HOPE SO! This rotten government needs a spoiler to drain it of the awful, awful mess it is in. Then maybe it will heal. Too bad the nation is too stupid to pick Nader. He would have been wonderful.

Yes, it is time for Senator Clinton to drop out of the race. The only way that our country might re-gain the illusion of being a fair nation is election of Senator Obama as President. I think that a ticket of Obama/Clinton is the ticket to win the White house. By the way, did any body watched the Charlie Rose for April 28, 2008 during which he interviewed President Carter. I posted the following words as my comment to the content of the conversation: Charlie, please convey this message of mine to President Carter. His compassion (during listening to your conversation with him) caused tears drop down my cheek. I would like to say that I am proud of him and I wish I could meet with this with-heart-and-always-in-the-heart-of-the-conscienable-people-of-the-wrld President; to share with him some points about Iran, as well as telling him of the painful retaliatory experience of mine; that I never thought I would endure for scientific integrity and opposition to publication of made-up/fabricated data for never-ever performed sets of experiments at the UCD’s Department of Surgery. I was retaliated against severely. I need to tell him about the extreme unimaginable humiliation, the impoverishment, my loss of wife, and the indifference of the University to the experienced atrocities and black-listing by the University of California. I wish I could have the honor to meet with this good, kind President. Charlie, this interview was one of the descent pieces of journalism by you that are not that frequent. I congratulate you for this interview. But, unfortunately, our PBS station, here in Sacramento, showed it at 1:00 PM. It looks like that the manager of this PBS station is against the fair and just views of President Carter. Each time there is a program that opens the eyes of people to the truth i.e. the truth about peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program for example), it gets broadcasted late in the night so that people do not see it. On the contrary, this PBS station in Sacramento, broadcasts over and over again the distorted junk pieces of politically manipulating programs; such as this piece during which you hear several times the distorted name for the Persian Gulf, the “Arabian” Gulf, as if they are paid handsomely (by the various corrupt sheikhs of the region) to broadcast it.

M Morgan - Oh please, he is just trying to resurrect a failed presidency. So much has changed and some of the unintended consequences of the Camp David Accords are why we are in this mess. That was when we started paying Egypt (an incredibly corrupt nation) aid.
