The Allure of the Blagojevich Trial

Our Dear Margo covers the closing moments of Blago on trial ... UPDATED with a new TNR article!

I feel like the old horse who pulls the fire wagon. Because I went to Chicago for the opening statements in the Blagojevich trial, I felt a pull to return for the closings. And, of course, to hear the verdict – unless the jury is locked up for days, in which case I will have to return home to do my laundry. A hung jury would be beyond disappointing, but you pays your money and you takes your chances. Part of the allure of this trial is that Blago is nuts. I do think he is in the Diagnostic Manual somewhere between "narcissist" and "delusions of grandeur." I can imagine his reaction were all 24 counts to come back "not guilty." (Unlikely, but possible.) I see him leaping up from his chair at the defense table with his fist in the air yelling, "Yesssss!" With results that are mostly guilty, I imagine him running his hands through that glossy, black roadkill of a hairdo and then vehemently shaking his head No. Anyway, I hope you’ll be there with me for what will clearly be the best show in town.  This has to be the best article you’ve posted on this site.   It read like a comedy and had me in stitches.   You are very talented indeed!

I don’t know what else to say except when you look Blago up in the dictionary his picture will be beside "narcissist."

Blago has serious ethical and ego problems.  I hope they lock him for a while.  His stint with Celebrity Apprentice showed what a foolish and incompetent idiot he is. He sees himself as a player.  Well, he can’t even carry the canteen.

I won a bet with my sister.  Because he was so vocal about testifying I said it’s because he doesn’t plan to.  They’ve already got a plan where he’ll say there’s nothing more to say or that they haven’t made their case.  Sure enough.  

My biggest question is did he think he was fooling anyone?

I can’t say with certainty, but I think he may have fooled the prosecutors.  They were so sure he would testify, they were (at least it sounds like) saving the most incriminating evidence for the cross examination.  Assuming that is accurate, either he or his lawyer was dumb like a fox.

That’s not nice B_G_ - Justin Bieber seems unspoiled, kind, polite and considerate and he’s talented - very different from many young celebrities today.  His mother keeps a tight rein on him and he seems to be fine with that - he gets a rather small allowance, has rules and regulations to follow and he does.  Nice kid!  Don’t burden him with Blago!

Pdrde….I believe B_G_ may have only been referencing their similar mass amounts of hair as there is definitely zero similarity in the two otherwise! (your description of Bieber is spot on)
