The family of missing Missouri mom Renee Pernice has offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to their loved one.
Pernice, the 35-year-old mother of two boys, went missing from her home January 2, and hasn’t been seen since. Her husband, Shon, was the last to see her. Police suspect foul play but so far have no clear suspects.
“There is no reason why the people who have hidden Renee from us can’t let us have her back and take the money,” Pernice’s father, Rick Pretz, said Tuesday, reports The Kansas City Star.
Shon Pernice has been accused of stealing a neighbor’s handgun a few weeks after his wife went missing, then returning it a few days later. He has pleaded not guilty and was in court Tuesday to deal with that felony charge. Renee Pernice’s mother says the children’s grandparents have limited supervised visitation. They have been trying to gain custody from Shon Pernice, saying he’s unfit to care for them.
"There’s a chance, I think, that Shon’s going to go to jail for this, and we want to be the safety net that catches them," Lisa Mooney, Renee’s sister, told KMBC-TV.
The Pernices were in the process of getting a divorce when Renee went missing, according to court records, and police had collected blood and carpet samples, among other evidence, from their home. Shon remains a person if interest in Renee’s disappearance, but he claims he had nothing to do with it.
"I didn’t harm my wife, not one bit, not at all," Shon told FOX4KC in March.
