Mr. wOw: Why Robert Gibbs's Hand Job Ain't Funny

Last week’s stunning double dose of Sarah Palin – her Tea Party stump speech and her FOX News interview with Chris Wallace – was enough to make a grown Mr. W. cry. (And as I commented elsewhere, it’s usually the boy shooting his pet deer in The Yearling that gets Mr. wOw’s waterworks gushing.)
The woman is running for president in 2012. She’s gonna take her capacious handbag of tricks and she is going to seek this country’s highest office. It’s going to happen. So, in a way, it’s a relief. Like you always feel so much better after vomiting, you know?
There’s no point in criticizing Palin’s recent appearances – for one thing, the estimable Margo Howard said it all right here on wOw. Sarah is Sarah; equally loved and loathed by millions with an almost terrifying fervor. She’s like the Grand Canyon or poverty – here for the ages.
| Of all the things to pay attention to, making fun of Mrs. Palin's inky palm is way down there. |
But what made Mr. wOw cry today? Why is he more convinced than ever that the Democrats just don’t know what the hell they are doing, cannot handle themselves when they win, and will likely lose everything in three years?
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs at the podium, mocking Sarah Palin’s hand notes to herself. Gibbs, one of the most inarticulate press secretaries to ever hold this position, wrote up a grocery list on his hand and read it. Hil-ar-i-ous! Of all the things to pay attention to, making fun of Mrs. Palin’s inky palm is way down there. Childish, pointless, the perfect opening for more "look-how-they-beat-up-on-poor-Sarah" responses.
If Gibbs, or the president, felt they had to say something about Mrs. Palin’s latest tumble down the rabbit hole, perhaps mention might have been made of her grotesque suggestion that the only way for Obama be re-elected is to, you know … kinda declare war on somebody. To prove he is a real-life true-blue American patriot.
This from a woman whose son serves in Iraq. Of course, who knows? Maybe Sarah is a true-blue Spartan gal from Alaska — "return either with your shield or on it."
Gibbs is an idiot. His vaudeville turn was not funny. I bet it’s backfiring as Mr. wOw scribbles. This is so typical. If I was in Mr. Gibbs’s position nothing short of bamboo shoots under the fingernails could have prompted me to even mention Mrs. Palin’s name, to give her power and validation by recognizing her. "The president and his staff are too busy with health care and the economy to pay attention to doodles. Next!"
There’s a phrase I’d love to use to describe what I think of Mr. Gibbs and whoever else thought this Palin pokin’ was funny. But … Rahm Emanuel said it first.

Well its so refreshing to see some people stand up for Palin the men stood behind Tiger for heaven’s sake. Well I saw this other story that offers a good narrative on this whole Palm Palin thing, have a look

Hey Mr. Wow:
I agree Margo Howard put it best, "Sarah Palin, the Paris Hilton of Politics"
I also think, w/o question: The World Has Gone Mad!
How anyone (w/the exception of Fox news) can give this huckster a minutes attention, is beyond me.
Imagine her as Prez, the "first dude" as V.P., Glen Beck as Sec. of State, Rush as communications director, and of course, the KKK acting as the rest of her cabinet.
PLEASE, somebody push the button now, why prolong the agonizing stupidity.
It was disgusting enough to listen to Elizabeth HASSLE-BUNK, on The View this a.m. - I can’t take anymore.
I REPEAT, PLEASE somebody push the button now.
HEY BITTSC: Don’t worry about it, maybe you can write in on the palm of your hand for future reference.
So glad to hear someone else is disgusted by E.H.’s phony rants and raves - followed by crocodile tears, sickening.
Wish they’d get rid of her. Would love to see an intelligent republican in her place, someone with credibility.
Hey Pdrde: She’s incompetent, imagine having to write her 3 main points on the palm of her hand. She couldn’t remember 3 main items? Its scary that these pro Palinites, have the vote. These are the same morons who supported the
BUSH-WHACKING OF America
Now they blame President Obama for the mess we’re in. As if anyone could clean up 8 years of ignorance and neglect in 1 year. If they were the "true Americans" they claim to be, wouldn’t they want to work together to help clean up the mess. This is not a partison issue, its the future of our country and our children. Of course, if you disagree with them ‘you’re a liberal, left-wing democrat. I happen to be an Independent and have voted both R & D, as well as for Ind. candidates, but they just want to keep ranting and raving and stooping to the lowest level, to try to justify their support of an un-informed Huckster.
If and when you leave, I’m coming with you.
How soon can we get to the 2012 election! What a bunch of "idiots" w/ "degrees"! did they really "attend" any classes?
God speed and good riddance to the "Obama Group".
I’ve lived in Alaska for 40+ years, now, and included in those decades is the traumatic semi-term Sarah served as governor (and I use that term lightly in connection with her administration). While I have often referred to Sarah as the "Paris Hilton of Alaska", a description I see others have independently arrived at as well, I would suggest she may also be the reincarnation of Aimee Semple McPherson.
There are innumerable reasons why she is unfit for duty even as dogcatcher (which, most likely, she would perform from an airplane and strafe strays as she approved being done for wolves and bears up here) but what has always lodged in my mind as supremely exempletive of her basic character is the fact that while governor she tried to institute a regulation charging rape victims the $82 a rape evidence kit costs the state. Mind you, this was at a time when we had over $29 billion in the bank. To me that epitomizes Sarah’s character or lack thereof.
As an Alaskan I almost feel compelled to apologize to the rest of the nation…even the world…for letting her loose on you but, frankly, even we were getting to the point where we couldn’t abide her any longer.
Mr. Wow, we just can’t make this stuff up, can we? Seems everything little thing Mrs. Sarah Palin does that is a bit offbeat…POOF….it turns into a major media recognition for her…If it’s not her hair, accent, enthusiasm, children, husband, by golly it’s about her hand. I don’t know of another woman who is orchestrating her own media blitz by simply waking up each morning. What a hoot!
And now, we have Mr. Robert Gibbs, who, in my opinion, doesn’t have an ounce of personality much less a comedic side fails miserably in his attempt to make fun of the media’s darling, Sarah Palin. I mean, really, Mr. Wow, no one can make this stuff up.
Robert Gibbs, again in my opinion, has hurt President Obama by being evasive and secretive with his answers to the journalists and the American people. He spews alot of words and by the time he is finished no one can remember, or care, what it was he was talking about. He is a perfect example of how we teach people how to treat us. He has taught us to ignore him…. Another how profile loser in my opinion taking up space in the White House.
I can’t wait for Sarah Palin to get out of bed tomorrow morning!
Sorry, Mr. Wow, I’m buying that line at all that most is made up by Fox News! They didn’t run the story until AFTER the left wing networks. All one has to do on this site and visit the Palin sites and you’ll see that the democrats hold much of the dialogue on Sarah Palin. I’m very surprised that you said that, actually. You see, Fox News wouldn’t go out of their way to make up things about Sarah Palin. Gibbs proved that the left has all eyes on Sarah all the time.
Former Governor Wilder (VA) said today that President Obama needs to replace his entire administration. Obama is in a heap of quicksand….I don’t believe anyone or anything can save him at this point.
