NP,
She has lots of “spalining to do”. About her remarks about Hillary to Deborah Roberts on Today show. Her thesis whch stressed working ONLY on behalf of African Americans, and her comments about how “mean” this society is. Someone please tell Michelle that lots of whites, muslim americans and asians also have suffered discrimination. AND she must address women’s rights as Obama flicked us off is shirt, and show how much he will do for all women of all ages, and”sweetie I’ll get to you later”.
She’s got to stop lecturing to us. It’s obnxious, And it caused lotsa people to turn off Al Gore. I do not want to be “sold” on how much smarter Obama is than anyone on the planet. And she should ask Obama that when in in Michigan as Gov Granholm was booed by Obamatons when inroducing Obama as she was a Hillary supporter. to conrol the Obamatons.
Before the obvious and odious P.R.“Jackie Kennedy makeover” is finalized I suggest she address her anger, bad manners, tendency to lecture, and last…when she turned around in Michigan, Obama gave her a little “ass tap”. You know, the kind of tap in public that is
gross bad taste that we have seen Bush to do Laura. Demeaning and Unpresidential, and not First Lady material. The Jackie O buildup is awful. I assure you Jack Kennedy did not touch Jackies’s backside in public. So Michelle has to be her own person to be authentic. I knew Jackie Kennedy, and believe me. Michelle Obama is NO jackie Kennedy. She has to learn how to be an acceptable and authentic Michelle.
Mrs. Obama
You are beautiful and you have wonderful style. Protect your children and when you wear brighter colors you look even more beautiful

Julia Reed said it best. Mrs. Obama should remember the election is not about her. Voters still remember that remark, “for the first time…” so her speeches should continue to be vetted by the campaign. Otherwise, she appears to be a lovely woman. Oh, and any acrimony shown to Hillary Clinton would be disastrous.
Nancy might have been rolling her eyes at Ronny…….but from what I remember, she ruled with an Iron Whip behind the scenes….

But her devotion to Ronald Reagan was and still is undeniable.
The sleeveless dress thing reminds me that the brief moment I said hello to Nancy Reagan at a Friday night wedding at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. She was wearing a long sleeveless white chiffon sheath that had a ruffle down one side shoulder to hem, and big splashy red-pink flowers on it…not too many. She was standing all alone at the foot of the red carpet, no one around at all, and I noticed her as I was cutting across the stairs to the reception tent, this was perhaps in 1997. People in the small park across the narrow street noticed her and clapped she seemed really pleased and made a little wave back. She was tiny, but the long dress and high hair elongated her. The wind was blowing her dress but she seemed very rooted in the moment and had a frank gaze….rather than an
averting one. I had the impression that this was a lady who placed very high value on her femininity and that she faced things head on.
I felt so sorry for her at her husband’s burial at his library, she could hardly leave the casket. And she raised a darling son….Ron Jr.

I didn’t take your remark as disrespectful. Not at all. And I do believe that both Mike Deever and Ed Rollins have commented on her tenacity in the White House. She was not a shrinking violet, that is for sure. She was not a policy maker and devoted much of her service to the “Just Say No” program to help children stay off of drugs. Otherwise, I think she was a typical First Lady of style and grace. I think Edith Wilson was the first to step out of that mold and to some extent Eleanor Roosevelt; and then, of course, Rosalind Carter who had a place at the Cabinet table. Interesting side discussion.
Does anyone remember how Barbara Bush used to handle questions about abortion? She said I’m not allowed to talk about that issue, and when the press would comment on it from the presidents point of view, she would smile and say she didn’t agree with him. They seemed to survive just fine disagreeing on a very important issue. The Obama’s will probably learn to handle hot topics in a similar way. It’s time for the president’s wife to have her own view on things. If I remember right Barbara just avoided it until he was elected.
Nancy might have rolled her big browns at Ronny, but meanwhile back at the ranch and the White House she ruled the roost, fired some people, protected Ronny from all things evil and set certain schedules according to her horoscope. I concur with you, Lily, and Mary. Michelle is someone worth jumping fences for. And I hope she keeps her sassy.

Obama Supporters,
There is a great new website established by the Obama campaign called FightTheSmears.com. It is a place where they disabuse viewers of every rumor that has existed. check it out.

It is right that women take their place. We are the majority 51% of population. Change is good and it is already happening, by leaps and bounds. We have an African American as the nominee of the democrat party. THat is change. But many people in the country are straining against change. They like our country the way it is. How do you win them over? Politics is a heavy duty game, and you have to play it. I didn’t take those comments as trying to hold women back, I took it as - part of strategy to get the democrats elected. Remember when President Clinton was running and Hillary was outspoken on certain issues, the public took umbrage to it and she became the quiet, nodding participant. He got elected and she then had a better platform to do her works. In the last 40 years the democrats have taken the presidency only 3 times, and two of those were the Clintons. He is running, not her. She can do it later. This is a very large country with a wide electorate. It will be interesting. She just has to say it better. It is not always what you say, but the way you say it.
