A radical violent group attacked the US…..I don’t blame our presidents. I blame the terrorists. Maybe you should direct your frustration where it belongs. Most Americans supported retaliation when it happened. We didn’t get the immediate gratification/results and everyone changes their mind and starts to condemn. Just think about it objectively.
Yes, most people supported invading Afghanistan. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. And instead of doing the job in Afghanistan, we diverted almost all of our attention and money to the country that didn’t do anything to us and now Afghanistan is back to what it was before we went there.
You should pay attention to what has really happened before you go around telling others to “think objectively”.
“Most people” are ill equipped to make such a determination. I appreciate the dialogue but clearly we are not listening to the same news venues.
He should just go away from public scene and do no harm. He has done enough. I know he is not a thinking man, but may be it is time to reflect on consequences of his actions here at home and around the world. He should definitely stay away Mr.evil, Dick Cheney.
Even though Mr. Bush fell from the graces of the world, including mine, I must give him credit for not showing any lack of courtesy on inaguration day.
President Obama was hard on Bush in his speech, yet Bush’s facial expressions didn’t change. Bush also quietly murmured something to the effect that it is a great day for America. Yes it was Mr. Bush.
Yes, I have critcized him. Yes, I got to the point of longing for the day he was out of office. But he did make some good decisions along the way. He brought us closer together as Americans during 9-11 and he dealt with Katrina the best way he could. And there were other good things he did. I doubt that half of the people who critcize him the loudest could have done a better job.
Mr. Bush, your green pastures await you. Enjoy your ranch and I’m sure Dallas will enjoy having a new resident, especially one who entered the front door of the White House as Mr. President. Enjoy retirement. And even though I felt things could have been better during the last 8 years, I will thank you Mr. Bush for being a part of the history of my country. Now a new history chapter begins.
Rainbow Power, you are a beautiful example of how all Americans should feel. I agree with every single word you posted.
People who constantly have to be blaming someone must be miserable individuals. I say, accept what has happened, learn from it and feel grateful that we have a new president with a new vision for all Americans.
Some people find joy wallowing in the mud.
Rainbow P. —-You expressed it beautifully. “And there were other good things he did”. ” I doubt that half of the people who critize him the loudest could have done a better job.” A President is only as good as the advisors he has in his administration. Some day he will possibly tell that story. I found it disturbing that he was booed by spectators who booed the large viewing screen as his image appeared
and he was boarding his helicopter. I also found it disturbing that as his helicopter flew away several of the spectators broke into chants of “Na-na-na-nah, hey, hey, hey, goodbye” — a sports taunt. If this is indicative of the “in coming” supporters of the new President I truly believe that President Obama would be appauled! I think one of the classiest images was one of Joe Biden giving President Bush a salute as the chopper left for Andrews Air Force Base!
No, hs wasn’t a perfect President — not by a long shot. However, he does deserve the respect given to all departing Presidents. I think that all of us not judge the man — we can let history do so. I think that personally he was a good man — for that I will give him the utmost respect. I will also thank him for being a part of history in the country.
I hope he and Laura have a wonderful life. I wish him the best in whatever he does.
thank you Lady Gator, my sentiments exactly. I too noted what a classy thing it was for Joe Biden to do in saluting the former president as he was leaving. A little civility goes a long way. Listen to what your new president is saying and strive to become better people, hating Bush serves no purpose, hate hurts you. Hind sight is 20 20, had the war gone differently many of the people willing to blame everything that went wrong on Bush would be singing his praises now. It is now part of history and will unfold as it should. Let the new show begin!
If he is only as good as his advisors why did he not chose better advisors. Part of what I respect with President Obama is that he is going for intelligent people in most areas. Such as Nobel Prize winners.
Sandee —“He is going for intelligent people in most areas”. Well there are a couple I would have to disagree with — a guy who “honestly” forgot to pay his taxes! Now that’s intelligent! Oh, and Eric Holder — wasn’t he Janet Reno’s bag boy? Wasn’t he the one who echoed Janet Reno’s decision to send E. Gonzales back to Cuba after his mother gave her life to bring him to the US. Yeah, that’s the guy! Now, IMO that was another intelligent person and another intelligent decision.
There are always a few bad apples in all barrels! I’m sure President Obama will experience a few. And, I have no doubt that the two afore-mentioned will be approved by all the intelligent people vetting them!
Rainbow Power, That’s true that Bush was very gracious in the transition and we can all be thankful for that.
