Question of the Day | 01/07/2009 11:00 pm

Do you think Gov. Paterson will choose Caroline Kennedy as Sen. Clinton's successor? What could sway him in either direction?

He may. I personally wish it were up to the voters.

Joan Ganz Cooney: Cuomo vs. Kennedy

I don’t know what he’ll decide. He certainly will have his own 2010 election campaign in mind and want to run on a strong ticket. Caroline or whomever he chooses will be running in the same election. A recent poll shows Andrew Cuomo would do better than Caroline if the election were held today, but I have a feeling that she would be a good senator and would therefore be more popular a couple of years from now. The governor will doubtless factor in her relationship with Obama which can’t hurt her chances.

Liz Smith on the Ethical Drawbacks of Selecting a Kennedy

I firmly believe we will see Gov. Paterson select Caroline and what will sway him is the clout it would give New York City under a mayor who wants very much for her to be our senator. Supposedly it would strengthen New York City’s ties to the Senate. I see the ethical drawbacks to her selection, the idea of her playing on her famous name, not being ready, not having experience and those who are infuriated that she suddenly felt "entitled." But it really might be very good for New York and that would be good for America.

It seems that Sarah Palin is upset because the press is treating Caroline Kennedy differently, and with less ferocity and scrutiny in reporting Caroline’s bid for Senator Clinton’s Senate seat. This complaint, of course, is based on what Palin sees as an (unfair) ‘class’ issue. After reading Palin’s complaints, I realized that there might be a bit a validity to Palin’s opinion. Yet, I confess … If there is a choice between an ‘inexperienced’ candidate with a bit of ‘class’, eloquence, and intelligence, VERSUS a candidate who has a bit of ‘spit fire’ along with the reputation of a ‘pit bull’, a pretty face, and who has a second rated education … Well … I’ll vote for CLASS hands down. Sorry Sarah. But, you will lose if you continue to point blame to anyone except yourself for how you were ‘handled’ by the press … Katie Couric, et.al. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/01/08/palin-caroline-kennedy-ge_n_156… is this where you get all your ideas from…no wonder you’re all twisted up inside sarah palin has more class in her little finger nail—than anyone who would speak about her that way. poor delusional maizie…(is it dark in there)?

Which little fingernail did she have her class in when she did an on-camera interview in front of a guy slaughtering turkeys?

Sarah herself says she is low class and not in the same class as Caroline Kennedy. But to her it seems being low class is a good thing.

I don’t see this as an issue of class or grit or even experience. We need to hold our leaders to a higher intellectual and moral standard than we have been doing. The chickens are coming home to roost because of our misplaced priorities in the voting booth.

I think it will take real courage for patterson NOT TO PICK Caroline Kennedy since she has the clout do to her name and contacts. I don’t think he has the guts since he wasn’t elected either and even tho he claims to be for th people, he’s not. If he truly was for th people he’d let the people select the replacement bt them voting. So many cowards in politics today!

it was obviously a mistake on her “handlers” part” Actually, it was her decision to interview there. It was her mistake, her self-absorbed insensitivity expressing itself. She “obviously” thought they were concerned about her sensibilities, not the audience’s, when they asked if she wanted to relocate. She simply said, “No worries.” “jeez—is there no learnin’ ya?” http://www.wowowow.com/post/sarah-palin-turkey-slaughter-alaska-vice-pre… http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2008/11/20/2008-11-20_sarah_pal… http://www.rightpundits.com/?p=2449 http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/us_elections… http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,24689469-12377,00.htm… I tried to find a reference that you might find acceptable. I stay away from the “Ministry of Truth”.

It was her mistake, her self-absorbed insensitivity expressing itself. wow…you really think this mother of 5, public servant, governor of the state of alaska is “self absorbed”—just goes to prove—you guys just “think” differently than the rest of us—more power to ya—in your small little world. oh—and thanx for all the references to all the left wing media outlets—i really don’t have the time to listen to nutjobs.

When Sarah couldn’t take a hint from others about the positioning just so she could get to her precious sound-bite, that was self-absorbed. Yes, we do think differently. For starters, we think! We even read. Apparently, you do not have time to find out what you are talking about. You just make incorrect assumptions, which seem “obvious” - “in your small little world.” My first site referenced was this one. Obviously, you do find time to read al least part of it. www,rightpundits.com is right-wing, They would probably take offense at being labeled left-wing. You do that alot, doncha. The last reference was neither left nor right, it was foreign. Perhaps you think that Australia is part of the American political system. If you were not so quick to judge, you might have at least looked at where the links went. “poor delusional” offcoursei.

Of course he’s going to choose her. Burris. Dems always do their fake little protests, then capitulate. (This is the issue I have with Daschle - all bark, no bite.) Might even be part of a master plan - does anyone think the ousting of that hypocrite Spitzer for the adulterer Paterson was serendipity? Speaking of hypocrites - the Obama supporters who railed against Hillary calling her part of a dynasty, are the same ones now cheering on Kennedy, who has no political chops. No time as a mayor, a city council member, a congresswoman, nada. My take on her sudden curious need to be in the senate? She is being placed there by the family to keep an eye on Teddy. Back him up, shield, protect the legacy, stay close.
