Angelina, so true. In many ways, I feel like those old arguments about men are a waste of time for me. They didn’t get me anywhere. There are definite issues that must be addressed for women’s causes, and many people here have their own, as I do, but one thing I know for sure - men don’t take away from who I am. The only person that can do that is me. They sure are frustrating, and many don’t want women to succeed, but all of that is changing.

Angelina—-Let me put it this way. I think most people emphasized the difference of men and women too much, therefore we have the wide gap between the two historically speaking. I am no expert on this subject, but I believe the book my Swedish girl friend lent it to me years ago,” The Birth Order Book- by Dr. Leman” was one of the best book I have ever read. There are first born presidents, the majority of them here in the U.S. throughout history. If there is any female president in the future, most likely would be a first born also. When you think about this, there is not so much to do with the sexes than to the birth order. Deny this is just like denying only the men are not monogamous, and the women are the monogamous animals. (I say sorry to the regilious people for me to use Darwin’s arguments!) It is not the baby born person, whether that is a man or woman, acting as a clown most of one’s life and one day waking up and to lead the most powerful country on earth, just because of some women’s- lib movement, etc. To me, it takes the perseverance and commitment to want to be a president—- In other words, it takes more than slogans and banners to do a super human job. Even that some times still not working out as expected—- for example, the young Bush (ironically a first born who is not so intelligent and still wanted to be a president and did that twice!) is no way near his father when it comes to presidency! Hillary, is an example of nothing to do with whether she is a woman or not, she only saw the opportunities using the woman and the homosexuals and the minorities, and to a great extent, before the black candidate Obama, She helped Bill Clinton to go to the white house was because she could get the black votes in 1992. My point is this —- Please do not overlook that there are so many other factors in the world to make something into something, and they are not always necessary of the equality of men and women that made it so! Finally, if Hillary ever gets elected as the president, You can quote me saying that IT IS ALL BECAUSE SHE IS A FIRST BORN; NOT BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN! If you are a first born, you could also be a president too! Provided you were born in the U.S.A. MAN OR WOMAN COULD BE A CANDIDATE! Since I was born in Hong Kong, although I am a first born,—-you can count me out!—- dancewu(dot)net

Suzanne Di: As to goddess societies I was talking about much earlier and Eastern European. Most of the book I recommended deals with the archelogical finds of Eastern Europe and Professor Gimbutas’ work from them. The book shows alsolutly wonderful plates as to pottery forms and designs going back 26,000 years. They were egalitarian with as much respect for the gods as for the goddesses. FRANK and IRIS, ya don’t wanna be without the Bucky! IRIS, I also gave this book as gifts to several back in the 80’s. For some reason, on my list of at least 15 years ago, I have the Sword & the Chalice. I don’t know if I have the title wrong or if possibly another work followed. If another work followed I would be referring to this one. However if I wrote it wrong then it would be as Iris stated and Suz Di verified. I mentioned THE CONTINUUM CONCEPT also and this is an important work and Geoge would like this also I suspect. Joseph Campbell begins to recognize and quote Dr. Gimbutas in his later work, respectfully. I think it is simply a matter of physics that men and women clash and bang in ideas and solutions. However to divide and not work and study at how to come together may cause the death of civilization. But I think we need to think rather than men/women, —instead as feminine intelligence and masculine intelligence. I think for woman to understand themselves on a deep level need to understand this and the purpose of each of the intelligence forms. Gawd this is heavy and I’ve only had a half of my cuppa Joe! To get into the goddess cultures all hokey as if the women were worshiped and strung in gold would be silly. To get into the goddess culture as a tension to men would be silly. To get into scholarly work we can easily understand is not silly and maybe quite important, to both women and men. The goddess culture didn’t say woman was God or that man was God but both women and men as gods and goddesses served and respected a higher power. It seems obvious tribes or northern and north eastern of fighting men brutally killed the goddess and gods societies and the question, I think, is why and why with such fevor? In scholarly work it suggests there was already language which had been developed by women and the societies were successful and happy. What was going on on the planet that caused these murdering raiding men to be absolutely bruttal? I have my own theories of course but I think it’s fun and helpful for folk to study with as little bias as possible.

This guy is boring! Too bad most of the comments here have to do with him. I would vote for blocking this guy from this site or at least limiting the number of comments he can make.

Mary, I am unclear as to which guy, you are referring to.

Possibly MARY MONAHAN can check her dictionary for the definition of Crone. SUZ DI and IRIS; you are correct on the title. Checked it out for sure. Not another book but my reference was wrong. Do you know about www.dogpile.com as a search engine. It searches all the others. I’ve got it on my favorites. Oh and Mary Mary quite contrary, you have a goooood day!

Can’t we ban men from these discussions? Do we have to have them around 24/7?

Dr. Klein—- You came from a marriage of four children. with the exception of the difference in our bank accounts, I believed that both you and I came a long way. We were probably married to a dominent, first born, controlling wife.( people already gave it a name, “Jewish mother”. I was married to a Chinese-Jewish mother for 21 years.) Now we are free! we are searching for the answer of who we really are. Any way, all I want to say here is that we are on the right tracks to search for humanity that we did not quite get it once before in our lives, and now we have the opportunity to do all our own thinking. We do not want to give roadblocks to the nice ladies who are also in a very difficult path to search for their freedom too. Their grievances were longer—- ever since the stone age when the women were the dominent spices. It was the women who practiced the polygamy then. Any way, it is my belief that people like us men and women are on the way to recovery. Discussions like these were wonderful for me from 1983 to 1995— the pre- AIDS singles world of the discussion groups, dances, dating, book discussion groups, drop-ins, etc., when we had 3,000 members in our single group, and we met more than once a week,… and that saved my life! —-dancewu(dot)net

What men do not know about women is that we are looking for a companion. One person who will be by our side for the good times and the bad. This companion might not live in our home 24/7, but, for some (as noted here before) might be more of a space away. As men have that drive to look for the sex partner, women look for the emotional partner. Society created marriage, not biology. So, living inbetween is fine with me and most of the current culture. Women desire passion, communication, connection and security (refering to biology again). Most women do not need them in this order, but, some do….As I hit my sexual peak, being single, I did. In 2004 I read a book by Lundy Bancroft titled “why does he do that?” It hightlights all the things women don’t want. Many of the abusive/verbal or actions I have to admit that Dr. Klein seems to have shared with us by his comments. This is sad, but, our country has agreed that Free Speech is a valued thing. He voice counts just as much as ours. But, we do not have to buy it! Choice is also a right, thank our country for agreeing to that too. Back to the question, A date asked me “Why are women so complicated? they have spagetti for brains and I am just a lazana brain guy?” It does sum up what they don’t see. We are the females who need respect, to be cherished and valued. Given communication and joint interest and values to share and a physical attraction, we are the best thing you can give yourself. My best comment to men is marriage is created by society, make yours better by communication, passion and valueing your partner than all the bad jokes your buddies who ignore their marriage. You will be the one very happy to see your wife in the morning and make them all jealous with that smile when you come into work from the reward that you got that day.

From the reward you got that day? Look guys a reward on your head!!!!!!!! Just couldn’t let this slip by. Reward for the day, indeed. Well are we really any closer to answering the question at hand? “Reward that you got that day.” Yup, quote of the week from the ‘woman’ of the day’ passin’ out sticky gold stars.

I think what men don’t know about women is we don’t have a clue as to who we are on a deep level or what we’re really supposed to be about. Helllllpppp. You guys are good at takin’ stuff apart and puttin’ it back together again in better condition!

I think what men don’t know about women is we don’t have a clue as to who we are on a deep level or what we’re really supposed to be about.” I’ll say: I was married for 20 years to a woman I adored - and I’m a very secure guy. She also talks all that “Founding Mother” nonsense you spread here, but she left me for a homeopath (a guy who sells water and calls it medicine) and, once we divorced, she started doing and becoming everything she told me she didn’t like. I saw a lot of signs of a mental disorder that she, nor her unstable (and very-single) girlfriends, will ever consider confronting. My take: women live in a world of solipsism, fostered by mysticism - women call it “spirituality” - and it’s only by having that “companion” you speak of can they keep their mind’s right. Like this is supposed to be this intelligent group of women on this site - with a button, up top, saying “find your sign”? Are you kidding? What century are you living in? Tell me that’s not proof that even so-called “intelligent” women aren’t swimming in the deep end of the New Age cesspool? I say “good riddance”: I can take care of myself - and still have sex when I want it - without having to endure listening to nonsense. Breakfast alone - ordering from the menu, without considering weight, or health, or anything other than what I want to eat - that’s the way for me as well. And that’s the world you’ve created: one where no man worth knowing would want to be near you for very long. And, with that, I’m out. http://themachoresponse.blogspot.com/

Is my wish that Suzanne de Cornelia and Mark Klein get their own websites a minority opinion? So much of their dialogue for this and previous questions are so tangential that the intent of the question is completely lost. A query such as this can be answered far more succinctly as a numbered list of reasons the respondent believes will suit the purpose. The war, politics, links to other sites and the like are not germane to the question! This is the kind of shuffle that the talking heads on Sunday morning news shows engage in when the answer is likely to be too revealing. And now, my answer to today’s question: 1. Remember that Adam was a rough draft, and his descendents carry that as their original sin. 2. Even so, they are good for sex and heavy lifting.

Crack Emcee, the New Age Movement and much of the Femnist Movement are places little girls went to try and become Women, —rather than use their brains and study and put the results into the world. True spirituality is simply ‘being of use’ to other than your own ego. But Crack Emcee haven’t you done the same thing, differently? Studying ‘egonomics’?
