Liz Smith's Birthday Wishes to John McCain, How He Broke Her Heart

Happy Birthday, John. You are the first politician I ever gave a financial contribution to and I did live to regret that decision because you broke my heart when you decided to go the George W. Bush road. But I wish you health and happiness and the chance to go back to Arizona and enjoy your very nice, generous and philanthropic wife’s great fortune.

I just wouldn’t want you putting another conservative on the Supreme Court no matter how much I like you.

I wish Senator McCain a few more happy years in the Senate and then a happy retirement with his wife and family and 225 homes.

Senator McCain Well, you’re a virgo. Have a good one. Are you doing one of your famous bar -b-ques? Stay on point and for your birthday, give yourself the gift of learning how to use a teleprompter, and a blackberry. For some reason people think this will help you. Good luck.

Forget any nice wishes. It is OUTRAGEOUS to think that a woman with 18 months as Gov of a state with a population 606,000 and previous exp as a Mayor of a town of under 9,000, with no foreign policy or International relations opinions let alone exp should be a heatbeat away from the presidency. THERE ARE 17 MAJOR U.S, CITIES WITH POPULATIONS GREATER THAN ALASKA; New York 8M, LA 4M Chicago 3M, Houston 2M, Philadelphia 1.5M, Phoenix 1.4M, San Antonio 1.3M, San Diego 1,3M, Dallas 1.2M, San Jose 912K, Detroit 886K, Indianapolis 784K, Jacksonville 783K, San Francisco 740K, Columbus, 31K, Austin 690K, Memphis 672K Someone tell me that a Mayor of one of those cities with 18 months exp. And previous exp as a mayor of a town of 9,000 were the largest concern is a Moose crossing. And with a degree in journalism from a third rate school should be a VP candidate. Not to mention that she didn’t care about Iraq, believes in teaching creationism, doesn’t believe in Global Warming is man made, and had ONE MEETING with McCain. This ‘decision’ shows so much contempt for the other GOP candidates with somewhat credible experience (if you approve of the GOP platform which I most certaintly do not). So much contempt for COMPETENCE in general and in women in particular. Would anyone even buy a car on seeing it ONCE?? It shows total contempt for HIS RESPONSIBILITY to choose someone who can actually take over the presidency. It shows total disdain for the challenges facing the world and the US. Obama’s speech the night before had the largest global TV audience in the history of US politics. Over 40M. More than the opening of the Olympics, More than the Oscars, most Superbowls. Double the closest other most watched political event. McCain/Rove pulled this cheap PR stunt to take the spotlight off that incredible feat, and the spotlight off the serious issues that he raised.To ensure there would be no national discussion of what he spoke of. And no convention ‘bounce.’ McCain has demonstrated such enormous contempt that it takes ones breathe away. just as he had contempt for his marriage vows when he dumped his crippled wife for one 20-years younger with a $100M checkbook. Just as he has contempt for ordinary Americans when he votes consistantly for his corporate paymasters and against ordinary people. He selected Miss Congeniality after ONE MEETING to be one heatbeat away from the nuQUEleer button, as she said, when she has absolutely no foreign policy OPINIONS let alone experience. My birthday wish is that a Katrina level storm of contempt rain down on his head and that he is voted out of the Senate ASAP, he does not deserve the presidency or to continue in the Senate. He is truly a contemptible man who has said all he needs to say about his beliefs about women with the choice of this PR Puppet. Of course he called his wife a C**T…he has contempt for her too.

Lynn, Yes, well said. Happy Birthday to you Senator McCain. A personal story: my son Ben was absolutely “taken with the Moment of history” when he happened to be on the floor of the US Senate in 2006 when he saw Sen. McCain,and also Sen. Kennedy and Sen. Specter all in deep conversation together. You were trying to work out a bill for immigration.

As Obama has mentioned once or twice: This election is about Change. When all is said and done, McCain changed American’s minds - about John McCain.

Best wishes that he gets his act together; i.e. come back down to earth with the rest of us little ol’ humans, maybe take an anger management class…or three. A little meditation and some compassion can’t be bad for someone trying to become friggin’ commander in chief.

Happy Birthday, John. It is a testament to your courage, your faith and your ability to know and trust your fellow Americans that you have reached this time of your life. You have my sincerest best wishes for your named day. I hope you will be able to utilize all of your experience, both legislative and military, as you become the next President of our great country. You will be one of the great ones, I am sure.

Amen to that! And I wish you much joy with your wife’s inheritance & all your homes (Think you could donate some of them to those who lost theirs, thanks to Wall Street’s & deregulated banker’s greed? ;+}
