I did contribute, but not the maximum.
Sometimes a person just feels the need to give, to help out a candidate beat another candidate. This was the case. And I feel good about it.
My old party was boring, unwilling to change, flying by the seat of their pants, still using nasty attack tactics, against issues I feel are important, had some in the party who spoke before knowing the content of a subject, and made me feel, even though I am a responsible voter, like I was a dumb citizen just dying to vote for them and who would turn my head to their totally irresponsible antics.
So I contributed == not to them, but to someone else. I feel like I bought a new coat. Off with the old and on with the new. And this one has bright new shiny buttons, no scratches.
I’ve personally not given contributions to any of them. There are public funds available if they want to use them. How many millions (billions) have been spent on this election? It has become obscene. Not one of the candidates are worth that much hoopla.
I am going to start a Marjorie Fan club. Someone who does not have an Irish surname gets plenty from Wall St, including certain investment banks. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Star,
Exactly !! Let the fat cats open their wallets, my little donation wouldn’t amount to anything anyway.
Star,
I so agree with you. I know I need to watch every dime and dollar for my basic needs, and feel one’s individual contribution does nothing to alter a candidate’s stance on anything!
Thanks for the courage to state your opinion, though it appears to be in the minority. Hear hear for American rights, right?
I have not been able to help Obama, like Frank I have a budget for charity and most of it goes to the Salvation Army. It is a long standing debt that I owe them going back to WW2.
I’m registered as an Independent and donated to Senator Obama on the day they announced Sarah Palin as the best woman candidate that the Republicans could find.
If Senator Obama could get a Republican to name a woman for the White House (any woman… so it seems) he can probably convince our neighbors to make a few changes on the global front.
I haven’t done a lot because I don’t have a lot to do with, but I have ordered some campaign merchandise from the Obama store. I figured that the small contribution along with the bumper magnets, signs and t-shirts to help spread the word would be of more benefit than just a small contribution.
I’ve given about $250 to Obama and I make calls at the Chicago phone bank twice a month.
This is the first year I have ever contributed to a political candidate! It was to Senator Obama. It seems to important of an election to stay on the side lines and NOT do SOMETHING.
My pennies went to Sen Obama right after his formal nomination and then again after Gov Palin’s. I won’t be able to do that again, but it sure felt good!

Every time I hear something from the Republicans that makes me NUTS I go to Obama’s site and make a small contribution. It adds up, and makes me feel good! It is obscene that this much money is spent in the election though.
I am one of the people who donated to Barack Obama during Sarah Palin’s speech. I thought I would go crazy if I didn’t do something, and I hope my little contribution helps get him elected.
Instead of “pay yourself first,” I have made a few contributions to Obama over the past few months. I will do so again in October. In fact, I will send the largest contribution amount I can afford, as it will be my last chance to give before the election. I have a large Obama sign in the upstairs window of my house, so all my Rep. neighbors can see it, and I have a first edition Obama-Biden T-shirt on the way. I live on the west coast, in a state that will surely go for Obama, so campaign materials aren’t as critical here. But I wanted them anyway. And as Lorraine has been doing, I urge us all to make calls (especially into the swing states). That can make a difference. We must get Obama into the White House. We must reclaim our country. This is our last chance.
