Yes, I often have put my health at risk for beauty but never for my own beauty.

Yesterday I read about some drs. and dentists in the med. Without naming names we can all see who has had bad face plastic surgery; but, if you all could put up a list of extremely good and gifted facial plastic surgeons I am sure many of us would really appreciate it.

I had breast implants 11 years a go, I did it for me and haven’t regreted it. Thanks to my mother, I’ve grown to be assertive, funny and very appreciative. As a 32 year old mother, i appreciate my body more and wouldn’t have plastic surgery. Not only because I feel that “aging” shows a “road traveled”, but also because strange things are ocurring in this world. Who knows what could happen to my health, all due to being vain. I guess, i’ll just buy a new pair of shoes or fun hat…..to take away any wrinkles that might be visible.

Phen-fen. It was a beautiful thing for a while there.

I spent about 6 months once eating a MAXIMUM of 300 calories a day. Sheer lunacy, which made me feel like death and gave me hideous palpitations and headaches.

Love what E. Jean Carroll has to say about plastic surgery. It’s at askejean.com

I tried a couple of weird diets in my time. One was a “eat certain things at certain times” diets & included hot dogs, cheese, & ice cream. That worked for two weeks, then stopped when I switched shifts. Another was mostly lamb, eggs, & grapefruit. It worked fine; but I grew to loathe all three within two months & had to stop. The “diet” that worked the best for me was a virus that screwed up my digestive system & gave me constant diarrhea for nearly six weeks. Broth & Lifesavers were all I could tolerate: I lost nearly forty pounds. Of course I eventually gained that…& more…back. Now I have to contend with IBS, which picks & chooses what I can & can’t eat on a changing schedule. Sometimes it’s red meat, right now it’s most fruit except for bananas. I am trying to lose some weight in spite of my digestive system. I’ve had one knee replaced & hope by losing a couple of sizes I can put off replacing the other until I retire & get off blood-pressure pills. When I was younger, I avoided the sun (not for health reasons, but because I do not tan; I burn, peel, & then turn yellow…ick). I gained a few pounds each winter but lost them without doing anything each summer. Until I hit thirty. I dye my hair, but have since I was in my twenties because I was bored with my own color. The way I see it, because I’ve been coloring my hair so long, I don’t have to say I’m covering the gray. Poor dental hygiene as a youth have caused most of my teeth to be crowned or replaced, but the current set are straighter & prettier than my real teeth ever were. I have a pair of lines from the corner of my mouth to my chin that (to my mind) make my face look like a marionette’s; that my chin will drop each time I speak. I was saving to have that corrected until the local Squirrel Mafia chewed their way into my attic & I learned how much my kitchen & bath re-do will cost. I can hide the lines in my face by grinning like a maniac in public; I NEED a kitchen I can cook in rather than one I just heat Lean Cuisine meals in.

I’m still trying to find a healthy diet - one that I can live with. Now, however, I’m totally confused. I’ve been doing some research and came up with this one site where there are debates by experts on various subjects – not only food and dieting. There is one debate called: “Are Low Carb Diets Healthy?”. I like the idea that these people are experts in their fields, but this one guy says something that gives me pause. He says something to the effect that eating whole plant foods is associated with having good health but that diets high in animal protein and fats are not. He also says that In a global sense, the adoption of sustained low carbohydrate diets which come primarily from animal foods create significant challenges for the planet and also other health issues for humans such as antibiotic resistance. What do you guys think he means when he says that a diet which comes primarily from animal proteins is bad for the planet? That’s the first time I ever heard that. If you have time, take a look and let me know what you think. Thanks! http://www.opposingviews.com/questions/are-low-carb-diets-healthy
