Hi Mary Lou!
The quote is the brainchild the Ad Council and United Negro College Fund for a public service advertising campaign . The campaign slogan, “A Mind is a Terrible Thing To Waste,” has remained unchanged for more than three decades.
Dan Quale addressing the United Negro College Fund, actually said:
“You take the United Negro College Fund model that what a waste it is to lose one’s mind. Or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is.”
Hysterical, no?

LOL!
Well people have said that Bush Sr. picked Quayle as his VP, because he reminded him of junior!
If you want a good laugh, look up Quayles’ quotes.
If you want to watch a great YouTube, check out this 1:11 minute gem, of Lloyd Bentsen and Dan Quayle, considered by many to be one of the best verbal put downs in debate history “Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine”

Thank you President Bush for the tax cuts you gave our family and the additional child credits. It’s helped us enormously.
Thank you for keeping us safe for 7 1/2 years, when almost no one thought it was possible.
Thank you for fighting for those without a voice in Africa and, according to Bono, creating more improvement than all the previous presidents combined. People here may not appreciate you for it, but those Africans who are helpless, sick and dependent, and now have some relief, absolutely do.
Thank you for liberating 50 million people and giving them the right to vote. An Iraqi citizen says:
“The turnout in Iraq was really like nothing that I had expected. I was glued in front of tv for most of the day. My mother was in tears watching the scenes from all over the country. Iraqis had voted for peace and for a better future, despite the surrounding madness. I sincerely hope this small step would be the start of much bolder ones, and that the minority which insists on enslaving the majority of Iraqis would soon realise that all that they have accomplished till now is in vain.
“Another surprise was to see some Iraqis who had fled the country in fear of reprisals, such as the families of ex-regime figures and ex-Ba’athists, actually voting and encouraging others to vote! I know some of those from school and college and I imagined they would be bitter about the whole process, but many were not.”

God bless you Pres. Bush for having the courage and vision to see this through, and thank you for restoring dignity to the White House.
The US won WWII in under 4 years on multiple fronts. Iraq: a country that didn’t launch one plane the night of Shock and Awe when the US attacked a defenseless urban center of 5M people, 50% children under 15 asleep in their beds. Over 1 million dead, $3T wasted, 2.3 M made refugees.

Your hero’s done this over a million times over FOR NO REASON and he knew it going in.

True to form, a Republican’s first sentence “Thanks for cutting our taxes”
How blind can a person possible be?
“Thank you for our tax cuts”
Thank you for deliberately destroying and making our common air, water and land toxic so that 3,000 Americans die every single day from environmentally related cancers, and pulmonary disease is at an all time high in children:

Thank you for lying us into a war that has killed over 4,113. This video was in 2004 when the US KIA was 1,000…..

And Thank You for the $8,708 BILLION Federal Debt to pay for YOUR PHONY war that according to the Bi-Partisan June 2008 Senate Intell report you lied the US public and Congress into, knowing that there were no WMD and that there was NO connection between Saddam and 911 or Al Qaeda.
Who’s profitted? Cheney by tens of millions by handing no-bid contracts to Haliburton, Exxon, and other Bush Admin friends. US citizens ultimately pay because this is who Bush has borrowed $$ from to pay for his illegal war:
US Citizens: $2674B
Japanese:$649B
Chinese: $354B
Brits: $249B
OPEC: $102B
Koreans: $66B

Bush KNEW they were lying us unto a needless war PER the Bi-Partisan Senate Intell Committee Report:
The Center for Public Integrity:
http://www.publicintegrity.org/WarCard/?gclid=CL_f8f-TqJQCFSEbagodyGyWtw
“FOLLOWING 9/11, PRESIDENT BUSH AND SEVEN TOP OFFICIALS OF HIS ADMINISTRATION WAGED A CAREFULLY ORCHESTRATED CAMPAIGN OF MISINFORMATION ABOUT THE THREAT POSED BY SADDAM HUSSEIN’S IRAQ.”
New York Times:
“The 170-page report accuses Mr. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and other top officials of repeatedly overstating the Iraqi threat in the emotional aftermath of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Its findings were endorsed by all eight committee Democrats and two Republicans, Senators Olympia J. Snowe of Maine and Chuck Hagel of Nebraska.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/06/world/middleeast/06intel.html?hp
In a statement accompanying the report, Senator John D. Rockefeller IV, the West Virginia Democrat who is chairman of the intelligence panel, said, “The president and his advisers undertook a relentless public campaign in the aftermath of the attacks to use the war against Al Qaeda as a justification for overthrowing Saddam Hussein.”

I’ve been thinking we should talk to the Italians and buy Elba for him; that would save us the $16,000,000 a year we are going to have to spend for security after he leaves office. And there’s room for the entire administration. Maybe the French could make us a little uniform with a feathered cap, like Napoleon had? I’m sure the entire world would love to see them someplace where they can do little harm and we can keep an eye on them. Rove, Chaney, certainly, and Rumsfield. We wouldn’t want George to get lonely…..
This may not be a good time to tell you this Mugsy, but Rove got his people into managing McCain’s election from now on.
Saw that yesterday in the paper, Carol. Until they’re dead with stakes through their hearts….
Mugsy…Now be nice otherwise Jr. will not share her candy with you.
All politicians suck blood. And we can’t go around with stakes. If you want to be Buffy, do it on Election Day with your vote.
And silver bullets. And fire. And a bucket of water just in case they have that Wicked Witch of the West thing going on.
Carol
If McCain does that, it may be the last nail in his campaign’s coffin. Don’t they get the nation doesn’t like Rove.
Carol L, there is an email option on www.mugsypeabody.blogspot.com, as well as the comments. The email option also gives me your email so I can respond. All best, MP
