Candice Bergen Wishes Lauren 'Betty' Bacall a Happy Birthday

Betty Bacall is one of the great all-time broads. Savvy, stylish, sophisticated, bawdy, witty, irreverent, opinionated and sexy. I wish her the happiest birthday and that she would live forever.

I’ll never forget you in "To Have and Have Not." All of us teenagers wanted to look like you. Have a happy birthday today and many more to come.

Why Cynthia McFadden Admires Lauren Bacall

To Betty Bacall — who I am proud to call a friend — on her birthday: I love you for your courage and even for your bark which rarely bites. I admire your embrace of high standards and your wickedly funny wit. Your talent, of course. To this day, when you walk into a room men of all ages and women, too, pause in the face of real old-fashioned, honest-to-goodness glamour. But best is your kindness, your generous heart and, of course, the fact that you can whistle. Happy Birthday!

Hello Chris ……. Yes, her movie roll performances are stellar! And if my memory serves me correctly …… have you been following the Chicago Cubs?

When I was in high school I use to get all the old, wonderful movies Saturday afternoons on one of our local stations. I miss enjoying them all. (I know there’s the movie channel, but we just don’t want to pay for cable when we only want three channels!!!) Oh, and yes I am a Cubs fan (i.e. fanatic!)

Of COURSE she’s a Virgo. Why does this not surprise me?! All of the intelligent, sophisticated, multi-talented women I admire turn out to be Virgos. (So why is the one who raised me such a lunatic???) Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Lauren! I always thought she had one of THE most stunning faces of the silver screen (as well as Liz Taylor; sorry but physically Marylin never held a candle to those two IMO). And that VOICE - holy hell on wheels!

Ms Bacall you are my hero. You incarnate the spirit of New York City, you got all the ingredients: beauty, style, guts & chutzpah (just love the word is sooooo New York!!!!) & the talent to live a dignified life. But you also have the makings of “une grande amoureuse”. Lucky lady, you got it all!!! Felicidades Señora!!!
