I am going to make a ham dinner for a husband who won’t appreciate it, take my dog for a long walk to the park and watch other families have fun and hunt for eggs and such.

We will be worshipping our Precious Risen Lord - without Jesus, there would be no reason to celebrate. We had a joyous week last week when our granddaughter and her husband and darling baby flew down unexpectedly from Michigan. All of our Florida family was able to accept our dinner invitation, which was rather last minute, but a wonderful get-together. My husband and I really don’t enjoy eating out on holidays, so I will prepare our meal. The money we would have spent on our dinner was sent to the Salvation Army who will be serving the homeless and anyone else in need. Wishing each one a joyous Easter!

I’m off to Joshua Tree to photograph wild flowers. As a Brit, fairly newly arrived in L.A, I am still bowled over by the variety of landscapes in California and am assured that the desert in bloom is not to be missed. I am packing extra batteries so my camera doesn’t die in mid-shoot! Guess you guys don’t do hot cross buns, right? Haven’t seen any in my local stores.

Olivia, Welcome to America! You should also not miss the Blue Bonnets in Texas, the Cherry Trees in Washington or the Blue ridge Mountains. I could go on, but that’s a good start. What are hot cross buns and I’ll keep an eye out for them. I grew up eating fried minute steak, my husband grew up calling it chicken fried steak. It’s the same thing. Maybe hot cross buns go by a different name here if not just tell us how their made. I’ll check out some of Paula Deen’s cookbooks and see what I can find.

Olivia, We do have hot cross buns, too! They are a holiday tradition in our house. I wonder though if they may be more traditional in the Polish neighborhoods? Martha Stewart showed her recipe for them yesterday. Welcome & Happy Easter!

Since the name of this holiday is derived from the name of a goddess of spring, I shall be a goddess—dressed like Esther for Purim of course!

Two inches of new snow. Won’t be planting peas or picking daffodils this year!

My husband and I did a performance tonight (good Friday) at church. On Easter Sunday, we will again go to church and then come home and have some friends over for dinner. Our family couldn’t make it down because of other commitments. We will have our family Easter at another time.

For Easter my family will go to church and praise God for his matchless gift of Jesus who died and rose again for our salvation. Then I’ll come home and cook steaks on the grill with our wonderful spring weather in central Florida. Sun and Son Shine to you all

I’m doing the same thing as last year. I’m cooking for 12 and my husband of almost 40 years, is fly fishing in Belize. I could have gone, just didn’t want to. I don’t fly fish. At least it’s only 12 this year. Last year it was 20. I have nine children and only the ones in town will be here. The rest are on the west coast. We will have an Easter egg hunt in the back yard for the three little grandchildren, weather-permitting. Then everyone will leave and I will do all the dishes myself. Sounds like fun? Actually it is. I look forward to the peace and quiet as I do the dishes ( I do have a dishwasher) I adore my children and the people they have become, my daughters-in-law, my grandchildren, my inlaws, and any friends in town who just happen to drop in! The time has just flown by and now I have to wait for holidays to see everyone. My youngest child will graduate college in May and I will have all of my children out of college. There really is a light at the end of the tunnel! I am the luckiest mom in the world. Happy Easter everyone!

We moved from New Hampshire to North Carolina two-and-a-half years ago, and love the three seasons of spring in NC. The child in me wants to color eggs Saturday night and leave them on the doorknobs of our neighbors. The adult in me doesn’t want to clean up the mess afterwards. Not sure yet which self will win the egg-coloring decision. Regardless, my partner and I will spend Easter morning at Bogart’s in Raleigh for a scrumptious Jazz brunch. We were there last weekend for my 50th birthday. The food was delicious and abundant, and the music was lovely.

I’m cooking - as all retired chefs are want to do! Just for the fun of it. Will start out with a champagne brunch - with Huevos Rancheros Cups and move on to Leek and Walnut Fritters and a Lemon Tart to take to neighbors for dinner. In the morning, we will take a bottle (extra) of champagne to the neighbors with children to watch the easter egg hunt (in the rain…God bless the northwest…) because all our kids and their offspring are much farther south than is easy to get to for a morning treat! Happy, healthy Easter to all - and to all you travelers, have wonderful trips.
